Up for grabs is my personal commuter car. It is a 1998 Lincoln Mark 8. Don't let the miles scare you.
Lincolns in the past were meant to put miles on. I have a 01 town car with 289k and it still runs mint.
This is my second Mark 8 and it runs better then most cars with 80k on the clock
No accidents and no stories. My feedback speaks for itself. I have driven this car to FL about three months ago and it gave no problems.
The good
Engine runs very smooth and idles exactly where it should.
Transmission shifts very crisp, no slippage or anything of the sort.
The paint is still glossy and shiny.
Navigation system with Bluetooth and iPhone compatibility.
Excellent commuter car.
Everything works as it should except what's noted in "the bad" section
17.7 miles to the gallon Keeping in mind I always hit major traffic on the 495 and gwb
300hp fun to drive v8
The Nav tells you whee traffic is so you can avoid it with no monthly fees
The following things have been replaced in the last 15k
Motorcraft Spark plugs
Motorcraft Coil packs
Thermostat
Engine coolant flush
Motorcraft Transmission filter and fluid using Mercon V
Lower control arms ( left and right)
Inner and outer tie rods ( left and right)
Rear tires
Battery (die hard platinum)
Evap canister holder
134a (ac freon)
The following things have been replaced in the last 50k
Front and rear springs (no more air ride)
Upper and lower radiator hose
Radiator
The bad
The passenger-side mirror housing is broken. Please see pic
Suspension makes squeaky noises.
The passenger side upper control arm needs to be replaced.
Normal dents and dings for a 15-year-old car.
Driver power seat does not work
Drivers heated seat doesn't work
Washer fluid sensor
Drivers side front speaker goes in and out. Lose wire
I use this car to drive about 100 miles a day to and from ny to nj and
everywhere in between. It's a solid car with awesome features but it's time to
move on up! I'm not in a bind and I do not have to sell. This will be my down payment on a new car if it sells, if
not i'll keep using it. This is not a brand new car! If you want a car without
any flaws then go to the dealership. Call me with any questions or for a test
drive. Roy 914 364 0778

Ford's J Mays feels vindicated by Fusion reception
Tue, 25 Sep 2012It's hard to think back now, but the same man overseeing the design of the 2013 Ford Fusion also presided over a rather lackluster period in Ford design, highlighted by vehicles like the Five Hundred and Freestyle. With the redesigned Fusion receiving high praise, J Mays tells Automotive News that he feels vindicated from criticisms suggesting he's not a daring enough designer.
When Mays took over as lead of design in 1997, he admits to having quite an ego ("My head would barely fit through the door some days. I've long since gotten over myself") and the workload to match. With the Blue Oval's portfolio full of premium brands like Aston Martin, Jaguar, Land Rover and Volvo at that point, along with the bread-and-butter Ford, Lincoln and Mercury models, Mays certainly had quite the challenge.
It was in the mid-2000s that Mays took over just the premium brands, and took on the new title of Chief Creative Officer. At the time, Mays endured some criticism for looking backwards to retro styling, rather than setting a new standard for American car design - criticism that Mays says he is free from with the all-new Fusion.
2015 Lincoln MKC
Mon, 09 Jun 2014Back in 2012, Lincoln claimed its comeback bid was finally underway with the new-for-2013 MKZ. But don't you believe them - the renaissance won't actually begin in earnest until the shapely compact crossover seen here reaches showrooms in big numbers. That's because while the four-door MKZ was indeed a proper step toward rebirth, the 2015 MKC is the first wholly conceived vehicle under Lincoln as a standalone brand, a move first announced back in 2012.
That's an important distinction, because Lincoln's newfound emancipation from Ford's design and development processes has given the struggling marque both the corporate wherewithal and the will to develop a more fully formed product. The four-wheeled result seen here is a surprisingly cohesive luxury CUV, one with significantly more aesthetic and dynamic separation from its Ford Escape sibling than the MKZ and its Fusion counterpart. Said another way, after flogging Lincoln's latest for hundreds of miles over canyon roads outside of Santa Barbara, we've come to understand that this is far from a re-grilled Dearborn special with luxury tinsel - it's a bona fide standalone product that readily displays the sort of clear differentiation seen in platform cousins like the Audi Q5 and the Volkswagen Tiguan. It's the real deal.
Ford recalls over 953,000 vehicles to replace Takata airbag inflators
Fri, Jan 4 2019DETROIT — Ford is recalling more than 953,000 vehicles worldwide to replace Takata passenger airbag inflators that can explode and hurl shrapnel. The move includes over 782,000 vehicles in the U.S. and is part of the largest series of recalls in U.S. history. Included are the 2010 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX, the 2010 and 2011 Ford Ranger, the 2010 to 2012 Ford Fusion and Lincoln MKZ, the 2010 and 2011 Mercury Milan, and the 2010 to 2014 Ford Mustang. Some of the recalls may be limited to specific geographic areas of the U.S. Takata used the chemical ammonium nitrate to create an explosion to inflate airbags. But it can deteriorate over time due to heat and humidity and explode with too much force, blowing apart a metal canister designed to contain the explosion. At least 23 people have been killed worldwide and hundreds injured by the inflators. Ford says it doesn't know of any injuries in vehicles included in this recall. Dealers will replace the inflators. Ford will notify owners about the recall starting on Feb. 18, and the company has replacement parts available for dealers to order, said spokeswoman Monique Brentley. In previous Takata recalls, parts availability had been an issue. Owners can go to this Ford website and key in their vehicle identification number to see if their cars and SUVs are being recalled. The same information will be available soon at the NHTSA recall website. More than three years after the U.S. National Highway Traffic Safety Administration took over management of recalls involving Takata inflators, one third of the recalled inflators still have not been replaced, according to an annual report from the government and a court-appointed monitor. The report says 16.7 million faulty inflators out of 50 million under recall have yet to be replaced. And 10 million more inflators are scheduled to be recalled this month, including the Ford vehicles. Safety advocates said the completion rate should be far higher given the danger associated with the inflators. The recalls forced Takata of Japan to seek bankruptcy protection and sell most of its assets to pay for the fixes. The inflators grow more dangerous as they get older because ammonium nitrate deteriorates due to high humidity and cycles from hot temperatures to cold. The most dangerous inflators are in areas of the South along the Gulf of Mexico that have high humidity. Related Video:
