Every once in a while, you owe yourself a little indulgence. No matter the economic climate, your position in life or the price of tea in China, we owe ourselves a little bit of affordable luxury.....and this car has it in spades! A certainly popular and sought after car by the well heeled in 1973, this excellent example of the Lincoln Continental luxury 2 door still stands today as a testament to American pride, engineering and what we stood for back then. It is a well cared for luxury YACHT! Measure your garage before bidding on this behemoth because it is over 19' long and in return for that space will give you one of the best and most luxurious rides imaginable. This car was built back when Detroit still used REAL American STEEL! Powered by the venerable 460 cu In Ford Big Block V8, the only thing that deterred this car was the Oil Embargo of 1974....kind of like a meteor killing off the dinosaurs, this car just couldn't make it in the gas crunch 70's.

Fortunately, it DID survive and here it is in great condition, well heeled and well cared for and ready to provide unending service to it's new owner/owners. This car features all of the power accessories one would expect and demand on a luxury ride. Power Steering, Power Brakes, Power Seat, Power Windows, Power Door Locks, Power Antenna, Power trunk release, PowerFUL engine...Power Power Power!

Factory supplied fender skirts accompany this car and are in great shape as well. They make this car look so long, sleek and classy that I doubt they have ever been off for very long...only long enough to add the "like new" Michelin White Wall radial tires that adorn this beauty. Factory hubcaps with great condition and no curb checks are still in place as well. The original jack, tire tool and a spare tire still reside in the spacious trunk.

The original drivetrain is still in place including the 460 Cu In engine, C6HD Automatic Transmission and 2.75 geared Traction Lok rear axle. The engine HAS been converted to run on today's unleaded fuel.

This is a good car, plenty of past documentation and ownership history rides along with you in the glove box and you will smile and get big waves from passersby as you ride and guide this bastion of 70's luxury down to the Dairy Queen with the grand kids in the spacious backseat.

Lincoln Continental death looms with changes at Flat Rock Plant

Tue, Aug 20 2019

Ford's Flat Rock Assembly plant just south of Detroit produces the Ford Mustang and the Lincoln Continental. Automotive News reports that the automaker plans to produce two battery-electric crossovers at the facility, the EVs scheduled for sale in the 2023 model year. The EVs were previously meant to be built in Ford's Cuautitlan Stamping and Assembly plant in Mexico, which builds the Fiesta. According to the AN piece, moving the EVs to Michigan means the end of Lincoln Continental production in the U.S. Sunset is expected in "late 2021" for a sedan that is just three years old, and that never got the momentum to assert itself and reassert the Continental nameplate. The Continental has been on death watch since at least March 2018, when Ford Authority reported that the luxury sedan wouldn't get more than one generation. The changing of several guards in the top ranks scotched a plan to move the Continental onto the CD6 platform for rear- and all-wheel-drive vehicles. In September 2018, Jalopnik put more meat on those crossbones, saying Flat Rock workers alleged the big Lincoln could bid adieu as soon as this year, and automaker insiders had seen production merely scheduled — not approved — for 2020, with nothing beyond that. Then, as now, Ford appears to be leaving open the possibility for Continental production to continue in China, and just maybe be exported here. The two twinned midsized EVs, using the codenames CDX746 and CDX747, would come in Ford and Lincoln flavors. Said to be roughly the size of the Ford Edge/Lincoln Nautilus platform siblings, the automaker has requested suppliers gear up for annual production of up to 65,000 units between the two models. When they arrive, they'll form part of the 16 EVs Ford plans to have on the market worldwide by 2022. The others we know of so far are the crossover that will channel the Mustang, an electric F-150 pickup, and an EV project with Rivian.

Lincoln MKC prototype caught partially covered, reveals some changes

Tue, 14 May 2013

When Lincoln pulled the wraps off the MKC Concept at the Detroit Auto Show earlier this year, we said that the very attractive concept was going to closely mirror the production vehicle. With few exceptions, a clad prototype recently caught running on public roads seems to substantiate our statement.
From what the pictures reveal, the disguised Lincoln MKC production mule and show concept seem to share the same waistline with identical sculpting over the wheels. The midsection of the two also appear to match with the same flare and styling. The lower rockers have been cleaned up a bit, mainly to be more practical in the real world (the deep chisels on the show car would have collected mud and snow).
Taking a look at the exposed front bumper, we see a very similar lower fascia complete wtih the metal skid plate on the chin. The window profile also seems to match the concept, though we're still unclear exactly how that C- and D-pillar section is going to look. Of course, and it always seems to be the case when concepts evolve into production vehicles, the MKC gains four normal door handles, standard-sized mirrors and a slightly smaller wheel/tire package. We expect the production version of the Lincoln MKC to debut later this year.

Lincoln putting perfume on its sales

Mon, 18 Aug 2014

Lincoln has a scent. But unlike those from Mustang, Lamborghini or even Shark by Tara, you can't buy it and you have to visit a Lincoln dealership to inhale its notes of jasmine hedione, mate tea leaves and tonka beans. Essence of Lincoln - that's what it's called - is being piped through the ventilation systems at some showrooms to help "create an emotional connection between the luxury brand and its customers," and olfactorily promote the idea of "luxury and warmth." Where it's not run through the ducts, visitors can sample it on scent cards.
Master perfumer Rene Morgenthaler worked with aroma house SensoryMax to design Essence of Lincoln. Also including traces of Earl Grey bergamot and green tea, whenever you encounter it you're meant to enjoy "a feeling of belonging to an exclusive, forward-thinking group that values style and success." And then buy an MKC. There's a press release below with details and an image to explain more, if you're still having a little trouble smelling the orange blossoms.
