1968 Lincoln Continental Sedan2-Owner California Car, Ice Cold Air Conditioning......please be patient while the many photos load.....1968 Lincoln Continental Sedan for sale in Sonoma California. This old Suicide Door Continental is a pleasure to drive. It starts, runs and drives great with nice suspension, newer tires, excellent brakes and a quiet exhaust system. The car is highly functional with ice cold air, working gauges, power antenna, clock, map light, trunk release, etc. All windows in working order with exception of the left rear window which is not getting power from either switch. The gentleman who owns the car loves his classical music so the stock radio has been by-passed and a great sounding aftermarket stereo was been installed. Additional gauges are installed below the stereo, amps, temperature and oil pressure so you can keep an eye on things. The car has great oil pressure and runs nice and cool. This pretty, old California car falls into the survivor category. With one respray of it's original Colonial white paint and still mounted are the original issue black and gold California license plates. This sedan has been well taken care of as evidenced by it's original door panels which are in exceptional condition along with it's original, factory leather seating and headliner. All and all this Continental is in excellent condition and is so opulent and comfortable. The body and floors are solid as well with just a hint of typical surface rust near where the vinyl top meets the deck-lid. This nice, old Lincoln has had the same owner for around 20 years now and he has cared for his vintage Continental, keeping it tuned and ready to enjoy at the drop of a hat. Ford rethinking vehicle launch strategy
Tue, 07 May 2013With a new boss at the helm, Ford is looking at new ways to improve its vehicle launches in North America to prevent recent issues that have popped up with models like the Lincoln MKZ, Ford Escape and Ford Fusion. Speaking with Automotive News, Ford's new president of the Americas, Joe Hinrichs, revealed a few ways the automaker plans to avoid early build issues such as the engine fires on certain 2013 Escape and Fusion models and months-long delays for customers to receive their MKZs.
It sounds like the root of the problems may have been Ford's relationship with suppliers compounded by the fact that the product surge came on the heels of the recent industry-crippling recession, and in the AN article, Hinrichs says improvements are being made to reduce problems during the launch of new or redesigned models. Three such improvements that were implemented during the first quarter of this year including more rigorous quality comparisons, better use of computer technology to catch major problems sooner and hiring engineers to work closer with suppliers.
Never mind the naysayers; Lincoln is worth saving

In the case of Henry Leland, naming his new car brand after the first President he cast a vote for in 1864 seemed a jolly good idea, on paper.
You should always be careful about the name you choose to give your new baby. The power of association can work in many ways, not always positive.
Ford faces class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles without brake override systems
Fri, 29 Mar 2013A total of 20 Ford customers are suing the automaker in a class-action lawsuit for selling vehicles "vulnerable to unintended acceleration." According to Reuters, the suit names 30 models built between 2002 and 2010 with electronic throttle control systems but without a brake override system. Those include the 2004-2012 F-Series pickups and the 2005-2009 Lincoln Town Car. Adam Levitt, a partner with the law firm of Grant & Eisenhofer says the plaintiffs in the case want "to be compensated for their economic losses by having overpaid for cars that contained defects." Levitt contends that the plaintiffs would not have bought their vehicles or paid less for them had they known there was no brake override system in place.
Ford began installing brake override systems in its vehicles beginning in 2010. In response to the lawsuit, Ford has pointed to research by the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that indicated that unintended acceleration is mostly caused by driver error, saying in a statement that, "NHTSA's work is far more scientific and trustworthy than work done by personal injury lawyers and their paid experts."
Belville et al v. Ford Motor Co. will be heard in US District Court in the Southern District of West Virginia.
