1966 Lincoln Continental Convertible-totally Original -one Owner Since 1970 on 2040-cars
United States
A True Classic 1966 Lincoln Convertible with the Infamous Suicide Doors. Royal Maroon is the color and this car has never been repainted. This Convertible has only 84,929 miles and has been owned by One Owner since 1970. In addition, it has been stored in doors since that time. The motor turns over and starts right up when it was recently started on a temporary fuel cell. The main fuel tank should be cleaned or replaced. The Interior is original and is in very good to excellent condition for being original. The Dash is in excellent condition with no cracks or fading. The Convertible top works and goes up and down smoothly. The top is water tight and may be used as is and it is not necessary to replace. The radio works well and the antenna operates smoothly. The Clock works as well. The lights work along with the turn signals and back up lights. However it will need a few bulbs(one headlight bulb is burned out along with the passenger side front turn signal). The only negative thing about the car is the rust behind the rear wheels and behind the front left fender and a few other spots. The floors and trunk are solid. The glass is all good with no cracks. The power seat works well. The tires and brakes will need to be replaced although they will work enough to move the car. The car should be given a thorough cleaning and would probably look a lot better as it is in the same condition since coming out of storage. This car also has the rare factory ski/luggage rack.
Overall the car is in pretty nice shape and with some TLC it will be an awesome car. This is an excellent opportunity to own a desirable 1966 suicide door convert! In addition, it has a very reasonable reserve. Whoever buys this vehicle will be able to put a few dollars into the body and restore it to desired condition. All potential buyers are more than welcome to come and inspect vehicle before the auction closes. Please ask any and all questions. Happy bidding! |

Lincoln says MKZ supply crisis over
Mon, 25 Mar 2013After an excessive number of recalls on the 2013 Escape and Fusion, we can't really fault Ford for being a little extra cautious with the launch of the 2013 Lincoln MKZ. Last month, we reported that dealer supply of the car was extremely limited due to more attention being paid to quality checks of cars rolling off the assembly line, which led to a 73-percent drop in MKZ sales from last year on top of a 32-year low in monthly sales for Lincoln in January.
The reason for the delay was that the sedans were being shipped from the Hermosillo, Mexico assembly plant to be inspected even closer at Ford's Flat Rock, Michigan plant before they were able to head to dealers. Things seem to be straightening out for Lincoln and the MKZ's production now, as Automotive News is reporting that supply should be up to a "normal level" by the end of this month.
Ford recalling 830,000 vehicles to replace side door latches
Thu, Aug 4 2016The Basics: Ford is conducting a recall for roughly 830,000 models. The affected vehicles include the 2013 to 2015 Ford C-Max, 2012 to 2015 Ford Focus, 2013 to 2015 Ford Escape, 2015 Lincoln MKC, 2015 Ford Mustang, and 2014 to 2016 Ford Transit Connect. The recall is focused primarily in Arkansas, Alabama, Florida, California, Arizona, Hawaii, Georgia, New Mexico, Louisiana, Mississippi, Texas, Nevada, Utah, Oklahoma, Washington, and Oregon as the problem mostly affects cars in states with warm weather. The Problem: The pawl spring tab in the side door latch in the affected vehicles could break, preventing the door from latching and could even cause the door to open while driving. Injuries/Deaths: There is one reported injury and one reported accident. The Fix: Dealers will replace the affected cars' side door latches. If you own one: Reach out to your local Ford dealer to schedule a service. Ford hybrid sales rebound following MPG controversy
Sun, 31 Aug 2014Ford hybrid customers apparently have very short memories. With two EPA fuel economy reratings in the last year, sales of the C-Max, Fusion Hybrid and Lincoln MKZ haven't been too terribly dented, Ward's Auto reports.
All three vehicles saw sales dips following the August 2013 rerating, although sales of the MKZ Hybrid had begun to rebound as early as November of that year. C-Max sales, meanwhile, took slightly longer, with sales on a steadily improving course as early as February of this year.
The second rerating, in June of this year, has had an even smaller effect on the Blue Oval's hybrids. The C-Max has actually been subject to a sales increase, while both the MKZ and Fusion saw minor sales drops (less than 400 units between the two in the month following the rerating).
