1966 Lincoln Continental 4 Door Sedan - older restoration in overall good to fair condition.  Believed to be California car with just a few owners.  Last owner purchased car in early 1980s.  Sale includes service manual and many, many spare parts (see trunk picture).  Great original example.  113K Original Miles.  White with Aqua Leather interior.  First place in class at LCOC Western Regional Meets in 1983 and 1985.  Mechanically sound and well maintained.  Engine runs well but probably needs a tune up.  Transmission has been well cared for and brakes seem good.  Needs paint and some cosmetic work.  Chrome and bright work is straight and in overall good condition.  Body is in very good condition with the exception of surface rust on 3 of four doors/quarter panels (see pictures).  Leather is worn and discolored in spots, but not ripped.  Headliner is in very good condition.  Dashboard is not cracked.  Clock is not currently working.  3 of 6 windows do not currently operate (but are in the up position).  Gauges work.  Air conditioning works but may need a charge.  Tires are good.  Car has been stored in garage.  This is an estate sale and seller is not very familiar with car's history and many of the details.  The information provided above is to the best of the seller's knowledge but is not guaranteed.  Contact seller for additional information or to arrange a time to view the car.  Serious inquiries only.

Lincoln Continental prototype breaks down, requires a tow

Wed, Dec 2 2015

Sometimes, cars break. Sometimes, said cars happen to be prototypes covered in camouflage. And sometimes, spy photographers are on hand to capture the sad sight. Such is the case here, as our trusty long-lenses have captured images of a stricken Lincoln Continental getting a tow back the shop. It's not clear what happened with the wounded Continental, but its unfortunate breakdown has given us a great look at the car's sprawling glass roof. Like the current MKZ, it looks like the Conti's panoramic roof can slide back, although we doubt it will cover up any element of the rear window, like its smaller sibling. And unlike our previous round of spy photos, this latest gallery gives us a look at a rather substantial set of integrated exhaust tips (i.e. fakes that have been fitted directly to the rear bumper cover). We can also spy a bit of the interior, although it's nowhere near as good as our last round of images. These shots do, however, show off a full roll cage and a fire extinguisher, but we wouldn't count on those being offered with the production model. Their presence here, though, leads us to believe that the car in question is probably some kind of vehicle dynamics tester. Look for a full introduction of the all-new Continental next month, when it debuts at the 2016 Detroit Auto Show. Related Video:

NHTSA closes rollaway investigation into 1.56M Ford SUVs

Mon, 11 Mar 2013

It's taken four years of study, but the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration has finally closed the books on its investigation into rollaway accusations surrounding 1.56-million Ford SUV models.
The probe, which centered on the 2002-2005 Ford Explorer, 2002-2005 Mercury Mountaineer and 2003-2005 Lincoln Aviator, ends without the federal agency calling for a recall. According to The Detroit News, the investigation was closed due to a "low number of complaints" - NHTSA documented 180 such complaints that resulted in 14 crashes and six minor injuries, but the number of incidents have been slowing. The suspected defect rate for the trucks' automatic transmissions was found to be 4.4 per 100,000 units, and the brake-shift interlock mechanism failure rate was judged to be even lower at 3.4 per 100k.

2015 Lincoln Navigator puts on a brave face, offers EcoBoost V6 only

Lincoln has finally given its SUV a facelift after seven long years.
Seven years is a long time. For the auto industry, though, seven years is an absolute eternity. Most vehicles receive clean-sheet redesigns within the span of seven years, usually getting a facelift of some sort after year three or four. Not Lincoln.
