1964 Lincoln Convertible on 2040-cars

Year:1964 Mileage:34628
Location:

Dearborn, Michigan, United States

Dearborn, Michigan, United States

Car has been in dry storage for about 43 years. A friend of the family bought the car from the original owner in 1968 ( have cancelled title) and drove the car until about 1971 when he had an issue with the car not starting by the key.  He put the car in a dry garage and did not get the time to fix it. After he passed away, my father bought the car from the family around 1994 and again put it in dry storage. . Car has 34,628 miles as shown on the odometer, (see photo), and to my knowledge are original.

My father attempted to fix the ignition issue by replacing the ignition key cylinder, the starter solenoid, plugs, points and condenser which did not resolve the issue. He left the car that way as he had other things going on. That is why the cluster face, glovebox and a few other small items associated to that attempt at fixing are not installed. (seen in photo). He put all fasteners/parts in plastic bags and a box then stored them in the car.

Car has been started several times over the years we have owned it by turning the ignition switch on, jumping the starter solenoid and hooking up a fuel line to a gas can. The car runs very well. Transmission operates also. Coolant and oil have been drained, new coolant, oil and filter were installed two times, once when bought and once several months ago. The car was brought out for photos for this ad, put on stands, started and ran for about a half hour with no issue. (as seen on stands in photo). Car has not been driven as the brakes do not function from sitting so long. Car does roll freely. The windows operate except for the drivers door. Glass is good. Power antenna operates, seat works.

The power top did work when first purchased but does not as of now. There is no evidence of leaky/faulty pumps/actuators. Top is in nice condition. There is a little filler at the left side rear wheel well and at the right wheel wells, applied by the previous owner (example seen  in photo). There is a very small rust through at left rear quarter at bottom by rear bumper. Otherwise the body and underside do not appear to have any rust through. No obvious dents. The underside looks to have been undercoated. Interior is very nice with minimal wear. Bumpers, grille, stainless are all there and not damaged. No sign/s of previous accident damage/repaint. The car has not been abused.

I feel the car would be an easy restore or custom, but that is my opinion.

The background information is to the best of my knowledge/memory. Both persons are no longer alive.

Please, contact me ONLY if you are serious about the transaction and have the funds available to purchase. Do not waste my time or yours. Thank you.

Please inspect the photos well.

If you have any questions, please CALL ONLY. NO TEXTS. I can be reached between 8 am and 6 pm, Michigan time please. You are welcome to schedule a time to see the car. I will do my best to answer your questions. My number is 313-231-0283. Title is free and clear.

Car is sold as is.

DO NOT NEED HELP SELLING, NO SPAMMERS/SCAMMERS/CHECK CASHERS/TIME WASTERS...........don't even think about it! Thank you!

World's dumbest carjackers livestream themselves committing crime

Thu, Oct 13 2016

Warrants were issued Monday for a trio of Cleveland carjackers who, after beating up a limo driver and stealing his car, livestreamed themselves joyriding around the city in the stolen limo. According to Cleveland.com, Brandon Lynch, a limo driver and National Guardsman, drove a couple in a hired limo from New Philadelphia, Ohio to Cleveland for game one of the Indians/Red Sox AL Divisional Series last Thursday. After dropping off his passengers at Progressive Field, he drove the stretched 2001 Lincoln to a McDonalds at Carnegie Avenue and East 30th to grab a bite and wait for the game to end. After finishing his dinner in the car, Lynch stepped out for a breath of fresh air in the parking lot when he was approached by three young men on bicycles. One of them asked Lynch if he could take them through the drive-through in the limo. "I laughed at first because I thought they were kidding," Lynch told the website. "I can't just drive someone in the limo." Lynch said no, and that's when the trio jumped him. During the scuffle the three youths choked Lynch out, punched and kicked him in the head. They then rifled through his pockets and made off in the limo. The next day, a young Cleveland resident named Jessee Varner fired up Facebook live and filmed himself and his two accomplices–Ty'Juan Philpot and Norman Henry–reenacting every 90's hip-hop video ever made from inside the stolen Lincoln. During the video they drove around town, smoke some weed, drank some 40 ounce beers, stuck their heads out of the sunroof, and generally made a nuisance of themselves while posting the evidence online. Eventually they crashed the car and fled the scene. Using evidence from the video and from DNA samples collected from a bicycle at the scene of the crime, Cleveland Police issued warrants for their arrest. The three criminal masterminds, who are well known to Cleveland's law enforcement community, remain at large. Despite a bad concussion and the loss of his car, Lynch is looking on the bright side of things. "The Indians won, so it wasn't all bad!" he said. 2016 Lincoln MKX spied in production form

Wed, Dec 17 2014

We're getting our first quality look at the next-generation Lincoln MKX in production guise thanks to these fresh spy shots, and they suggest styling that hews very closely to the concept from earlier this year. Compared to the showcar, the headlights aren't quite as well integrated into the grille, but these LED units still attempt to nicely wrap the split-wing grille across the entire face of the vehicle. Beyond that, the two vehicles quite similar, though. The shape of the lower air dam is practically identical – just with some extra plastic for the production version. The hint of a character line running down the side also makes the resemblance easy to spot, despite this tester's polka-dot camouflage. At the rear, the taillights stretch across the hatch with integrated exhaust outlets below. Even the twin-spoke wheels are comparable to the concept. Also, look carefully at these spy shots, and you can notice Lincoln apparently testing two different trims. One has LED headlights with front and rear parking sensors (pictured above), and the other shows projector lights with the sensors only at the rear. The next-gen MKX will launch in 2015 and will be the first model in Lincoln's lineup to benefit from the deal with Harman to use its high-end Revel audio system. Check out the gallery to get a mildly camouflaged sneak preview of the company's future luxury crossover.

Lincoln reveals MKC compact crossover ahead of LA debut [w/video]

Wed, 13 Nov 2013

It used to be that if you wanted a luxury SUV, you had to go big. Just look at the first high-riders released by some of the major luxury automakers - Audi Q7, Cadillac Escalade, Lexus LX - and you'll see what we mean. But since 2009 the small premium crossover segment has grown a whopping 200 percent, so it's no surprise that each has followed up with smaller luxury crossovers. And this is the latest.
At the other end of the utility spectrum from the Navigator, the new Lincoln MKC is based on the Ford Escape (much as the old pseudo-premium Mercury Mariner was), but completely rebodied and luxed up to put it in another league. Although we're still not sold on Lincoln's family fascia, the grille treatment on the MKC is certainly one of the better variations on the theme to date. The Dart-like rear lights dominate the wrap-around tailgate, and the overall shape looks taut and upscale. The same can be said of the dynamically-designed interior, taking the concept revealed in Detroit earlier this year to production fairly seamlessly.
Power will come from a choice of EcoBoost four-cylinder engines with turbocharging and direct injection: a 2.0-liter with 240 horsepower and 270 pound-feet of torque, or a slightly punchier new 2.3-liter with 275 hp and 300 lb-ft. Lincoln didn't disclose what transmission they'll be mated to, but did note that the MKC carries the brand's "signature" push-button gear shifter. It comes standard in front drive, but buyers who upgrade to all-wheel drive (or tick the right box) will also benefit from a new adaptive suspension Lincoln calls Continuously Controlled Damping. Other features include an approach-detection system that lights the car up and projects a Lincoln "welcome mat" on the pavement when you get close to the car, and a "bread-crumbing" feature that lets you track where your vehicle has been.
