Up for sale is my 1964 Lincoln Continental.  The car has 84000 original miles.  Car is all original minus the 24" wheels.  The car runs great and gets compliments everywhere it goes.   I have the original hubcaps but don't have the original wheels.  All chrome is there and in great shape.  The interior is all original.  The dash, headliner, and carpet are in excellent shape.  The front seat could stand being recovered.  It has the typical cracks of a 50 year old leather seat.  The original paint is on the car and is probably a 7/10.  It has a few nicks in the paint.  There are two dents, one on the drivers door and one on the hood, that could use some bodywork.  Easy job for any body man.  The original spare is still in the trunk.  The engine is the original 430 V-8.  It has a new distributor cap, plug wires, plugs, new radiator with new fan, new clutch fan, new battery, new alternator, new regulator, new oil pump, and new motor mounts.  All stock suspension with new tie rods, ball joints, and brakes.  The a/c is not working.  The compressor turns freely and is not seized up.  Should just be able to hook everything up and charge the system.  I have tons of pics and can get any pics you want that I don't have.  This is a rust free California car that still has black California plates on it with the original dealership plate frame on the front.  Car is available to be seen any time.  I will answer any questions to the best of my ability.

Car is going to be sold with No Reserve and will go to the winning bidder.  I will work with shippers and buyer is responsible for shipping charges.  Feel free to ask any questions.  Thanks for looking and good luck bidding.

J Mays retiring from Ford design, succeeded by Moray Callum

Tue, 05 Nov 2013

Ford's highly influential head of design, J Mays, has announced that he'll be retiring from his position after 33 years in the industry, 16 of which were at the Dearborn, MI-based company. Upon departure, he'll be succeeded as group vice president of design by Moray Callum. If that last name sounds familiar, yes, he's the brother of Jaguar's Ian Callum.
It's difficult to explain just how big of a role Mays had on not just Ford's design over the years, but on the entire industry. Before heading to Dearborn, Mays worked for Audi, BMW and then Volkswagen, where he was involved in concept cars that paved the way for design icons like the first-generation Audi TT and the Volkswagen New Beetle. As for his Ford resume, it's extensive.
Mays joined the company in 1997 as design director for Ford, Lincoln, Mercury and Mazda, as well as the Premier Automotive Group (Volvo, Land Rover, Jaguar and Aston Martin). He was heavily involved in the Ford Fusion, Focus, Fiesta, Taurus, F-150 and Mustang, while also contributing to concept cars like the Atlas, Evos, 427, Forty-Nine, Shelby GR-1, Lincoln MKZ and the MKC.

Weekly Recap: New bosses try to jump-start Cadillac and Lincoln

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

Both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.
It's ironic that Cadillac and Lincoln got new bosses within days of each other this month. It's also a commentary on the fact both of America's domestic luxury brands seem to be stuck in neutral.

Rebranding When Reinvention Is Requisite
Lincoln - pardon us, the Lincoln Motor Company - assures us that Ford is committed to its success. The awkwardness of the statement (which feels vaguely like your mother telling you that she loves and supports you regardless of what everyone else thinks) was hard to escape when we recently spent a few days with the all-new second-generation 2013 Lincoln MKZ.
Launched earlier this year at the 2012 New York Auto Show, the MKZ is a midsize premium sedan that shares platforms with the Ford Fusion (also all-new for 2013). The sedan's primary competitors, according to Lincoln, include the Audi A6, BMW 5 Series, Cadillac CTS and Lexus ES Series sedans - each an established, accomplished player.
