1962 Lincoln

Up for auction is my beautiful 1962 Lincoln Continental soft top. Perfect example of an original and rust-free classic that's never left California. Only 3000 of these convertibles were built back in 62' and they are getting harder to find each year especially in this condition. This beauty has just over 50k original miles, it's always been stored indoors and only driven on sunny days in dry weather. Absolutley no rust issues anywhere and it has perfect original body panels throughout. As you can see from the pictures it's very straight and everything lines up just as it should. Doors open and close perfect and everything lines up just like the day it rolled off the assembly line. The car underwent cosmetic restoration in 2008 with a new paint job, convertible top, interior upholstery, trim re-chroming, and a few other additions. It runs excellent and it's safe to say you can fly down here to Orange County and drive her back home without a concern.

The car has the original 430 engine and C-6 trans that were both rebuilt back in 2002. I just had the original carburator rebuilt last month, replaced the power steering pump, and had the full exhaust system replaced earlier this year. Car runs amazing and feels like you're riding on a cloud at any speed. This Lincoln has lots of power and picks up fairly quick for such a large car. Engine bay is very clean and the motor was pulled out when the car was repainted to have the color in the bay walls match the exterior. The suspension, power steering, and power brakes all work perfect and the car drives with great ease. It has new wide white-wall Cooker tires (paid $1,000 for the set). No squeaks or rattles anywhere and the engine runs very quite as a Lincoln should. All 4 power window motors were just rebuilt and go up and down well. Exterior lights, wipers, turn signals, power seat, ect all work fine. I recently spent over $5,000 on the convertible top system and replaced the hydraulic pump, all new hoses, electrical relays, rebuilt all 4 hydraulic solenoids, replaced 4 new deck cylinders, and rebuilt the worm gear mechanism. If you know early 60's convertible Lincolns then you know how complex these systems were designed and you know they can cost a small forture to have operating properly. The interior was all done about 2 years ago which included seat upholstery, door panels, interior carpet, trunk carpet, custom tire cover, and new vynil convertible top. The Lincoln was painted in 2008 with a nice two stage "Royal Red" paintjob that still looks great. There's a couple minor paint imperfections from average use but nothing noticable. Car has all original sheet metal and it has never been in an accident. It's never had any rust issues or metal repairs done to it either. Original glass all around in excellent shape as well. All the exterior chrome and stainless trim is original and looks very clean for being over 50 years old. Most of the interior trim has been re-chromed and polished so there's no pitting showing which is common for these old Lincolns. The only things that still need attention are the A/C system and original radio. I pulled out the factory A/C compressor a few months to have it rebuilt but never got around to it. I still have it and all you have to do is rebuild or replace it (about $300 on ebay for a new one) then recharge the system with freon and you're good to go. The original AM radio works but just needs new dash speakers hooked up.

This beauty turns heads and gets thumbs up wherever we drive it. If you don't like being the center of attention when you're on the road then this car is not for you. I've got a clean CA title in hand with current registration ready to be transfered to its new owner. Car is available for inspection by any serious bidder during this auction so feel free to send me a message with your phone number and I will call you to set up an appointment. As all other classic cars it is being sold in AS IS condition and there is no warranty included in this sale. Please ask questions if you are unsure of anything prior to bidding. This is a NO RESERVE listing so the car will go to the highest bidder no matter what. View my feedback and bid with confidence. Thanks for viewing my listing.

2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year entries announced

Wed, Jul 6 2016

Over 40 vehicles will compete for the 2017 North American Car, Truck, and Utility of the Year awards. If that name looks a little strange, it's because the competition added a third category. In years past, pickup trucks, crossovers, SUVs, commercial vans, and minivans competed for the same award. That's why there were occasionally weird comparisons, like last year's competition between the Volvo XC90 and Nissan Titan XD. The new format separates pickups and commercial vans into the truck contest and CUVs, SUVs, and minivans into the utility competition. A complete list of eligible vehicles is below, but here are a few highlights. For one, the entire list of entries has a luxurious lean. Of the 43 vehicles, nearly half of them are from premium brands. There are two eligible Bentleys – the Bentayga and Mulsanne – the Rolls-Royce Dawn, Jaguar F-Pace, Audi Q7, and the Mercedes-Benz GLS-, E-, and S-Class Maybach. The performance ranks are lofty, too, with the Audi R8, Acura NSX, Alfa Romeo Giulia, Mercedes SL- and SLC-Class, Porsche 718, and F-150 Raptor. The mainstream entries are just as comprehensive. From the Chrysler Pacifica to the Chevrolet Cruze to the Fiat 124 Spider to the Mitsubishi Mirage, NACTOY has covered an enormous price range with this year's contestants. Of course, these are only the eligible vehicles. They'll need to run through three rounds of judging, starting in September at NACTOY's traditional Hell, MI, test drive. The Canadian and American journalists involved in the judging will announce this year's nine finalists – three in each category – on December 6. Lincoln and MKZ propose brand reinvention

Mon, 03 Dec 2012

Lincoln made a rather assertive statement about the future of its products at the 2012 LA Auto Show. Rather than put any new vehicle on display for the first press day, the American premium brand placed a collection of classic cars from its past on the show floor. For the second day, that assortment was replaced with more than a half-dozen examples of the all-new 2013 MKZ. Following that, Lincoln teased a new ad campaign that was in the works, and it appears we now have the first extended promotional video.
Entitled "The Lincoln Motor Company," the spot acts as more of a mission statement, rather than an ad, featuring (once again) cars from Lincoln's past, as well as certain bits of Americana usually reserved for a Levi's ad. The video concluded with Lincoln reintroducing itself to the world, accompanied by a new name: The Lincoln Motor Company.
The video is likely to be the first of many in a large advertising blitz by the automaker, in concert with the rolling-out of the new MKZ. The sedan was the only new vehicle featured in the video, and Lincoln is betting heavily on this "reinvention" to bring customers in to see its new sedan. We want to know what's next. Scroll down to watch the video.

From Expedition to Navigator: our predictions for Lincoln's SUV

Tue, Feb 7 2017

In the midst of all the buzz surrounding the new aluminum Ford Expedition and Expedition Max, we remembered the other large SUV the Ford Motor Company showed last year, the Lincoln Navigator concept. And since the Navigator has historically been built on the Expedition platform, we figured there's no better time to focus some of our predictions for the big Lincoln. First off, let's take a look at design. Having seen the new Expedition, we're fairly confident that the Navigator will look almost exactly like its concept. The strong similarities between two mean the Expedition serves as a preview of what a production Navigator will look like. For example, both vehicles' greenhouses we can see that the shape of the C-pillars are nearly identical. The only difference is that the Expedition's are painted body color, while the Navigator's are painted black. Additionally, the character line running along the top of the doors on both vehicles is roughly the same height. The same goes for the more subtle crease near the bottom of the doors. We also see no reason why Lincoln wouldn't use the full width taillights, fender vent, and grille treatment it used on the concept. Those are all easy design changes to create differentiation, and they're all right inline with the cues set by the Continental. View 15 Photos For powertrain, we're pretty certain the 400-horsepower 3.5-liter EcoBoost V6 previewed on the concept is a certainty now. The Expedition and Expedition Max will be offered with a 3.5-liter EcoBoost as well, so we know it will fit. We expect the Expedition's engine will produce 375 horsepower and 470 lb-ft of torque as it does in the F-150. That's less power than the Navigator concept, but it would be reasonable to make the production Navigator a bit more powerful than its lowly Ford brethren to help justify the increased price tag. Towing capacity will probably be about the same between the Ford and Lincoln, which should be something over 9,000 pounds. The Navigator will probably use the same two-wheel-drive and all-wheel-drive drivetrains, too. Inside is where the Expedition and Navigator will likely differ the most, particularly in seating. The Expedition offers seating for up to eight with an available second-row bench seat, and the Navigator concept had captain's chairs for every row. We're expecting the Navigator will only offer second-row captain's chairs since the cramped third row would be a waste of nice buckets.
