I am offering up my 1962 Lincoln Continental 4 door convertible with 65,000 actual miles.

The car was purchased in the spring of 1991 from the estate of Henry Shakespeare (owner of Shakespeare Rod and Reel Co. in Kalamazoo Mi.) I was told Mr. Shakespeare purchased the convertible in the fall of 1961 for his wife, and it remained hers until it was sold at auction in 1991.

62 Continental 4 door convertible

Automatic Transmission

Suicide doors

Power windows and locks

am-fm cassette

Power seat

Shortly after I bought the car I replaced the complete 4 muffler exhaust system, front and rear brakes, front and rear shocks and all four whitewall tires (Firestone sup-r belt deluxe champion J78-14) and are 95% of new. My wife and I drove the car every summer from 1991-1995 and always stored it in a heated garage during the winter.

In 1996 I began a restoration project to the right side of the vehicle. There were a couple of thin spots behind the right front wheel and behind the right rear wheel, I cut these spots out, and just never found the time to finish the project. The right front and rear doors are rustfree with a few small dings that have been repaired and primed and are ready to be reinstalled. (see pics) The undercarriage appears to be solid.

The car needs a good overall cleaning from sitting so long, but the black and white leather interior and the chrome should clean up nicely.

We always enjoyed driving the Lincoln, it rode like a couch, and turned alot of heads everywhere we went. We entered it into a few local car shows, and took home a trophy for people's choice and earliest entry, just to name a couple. We enjoyed driving and showing the car so much that I decided to make it perfect, so the restoration project began. Shortly afterward I was in an accident, broke 4 ribs and my collarbone, so I couldn't finish. In retrospect, I wish I had just left well enough alone, the car was nice like it was and was already winning trophies.

So now you know as much about the Lincoln as I do. Hope you enjoy looking at it.

Happy Bidding!!

Woman keying luxury car caught on tape

Thu, Nov 12 2015

Toronto police are on the hunt for a disguised woman who was caught on camera Sunday keying a car. The woman sported a red bandana over her face and baseball cap as she ran up to the Lincoln MKS in a driveway, the Toronto Star reported. She then went to town with a sharp object, gleefully scratching the car's paint job. She runs off after nearly a minute of enthusiastic damage. Police believe the victim and the vandal know each other, since the Lincoln is the only car in the neighborhood she hit. This is also the third time this particular car has been damaged. They suspect this woman is responsible for the previous incidents. Toronto police told the Star that it will likely cost Lincoln owner thousands to have his car repaired. Security cameras are great for catching vandals in the act, though the videos are difficult for any car enthusiast to watch. Take for instance this video from London in April of a man scratching an Aston Martin while pushing a baby stroller. News Source: The Toronto Star Lincoln Videos vandalism scratch

Ford launches pair of recalls affecting fullsize sedans and Transit Connect van

Wed, Jan 28 2015

Ford has announced a pair of pretty significant recalls affecting the 2010-2013 Ford Taurus and Police Interceptor, as well as their platform-mate, the Lincoln MKS. A separate recall covers the 2014 Transit Connect. The fullsize sedans include 205,000 vehicles built at Chicago Assembly over a variety of timeframes, ranging between December 1, 2009 and November 30, 2012. The vehicles, 194,889 of which were sold in the United States, have an issue with the spring controls on the interior door handles that could cause the door to open in a side-impact crash. The Transit Connect recall, meanwhile, includes 16,100 vans built between November 6, 2013 and September 20,2014 at the company's Valencia, Spain factory. In these vehicles, the seatbelt fasteners may not have been tightened properly, which could cause them to loosen over time, a condition that's obviously bad news in the event of a crash. Ford says it is not aware of any accidents, injuries or crashes in either recall. Owners will, of course, be notified and asked to report in for inspections and if necessary, free replacements. Scroll down for the full press release from Ford, which includes the complete breakdown of dates during which the affected sedans were built in Chicago. JAN 28, 2015 | DEARBORN, MICH. FORD ISSUES TWO SAFETY RECALLS Ford is issuing two safety recalls. No accidents or injuries are attributed to either of these conditions. Details are as follows: Ford issues safety recall for certain 2010-2013 Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Ford Police Interceptor sedans for interior door handle issue Ford is issuing a safety recall for approximately 205,000 2010-2013 Ford Taurus, Lincoln MKS and Ford Police Interceptor sedans due to an issue with the spring that controls the interior door handles. If the spring is unseated, the door may become unlatched in a side-impact crash, increasing the risk of injury. Ford is not aware of any accidents or injuries related to this condition. Affected vehicles include certain 2010-2013 Ford Taurus vehicles built Dec. 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010 and Feb. 1, 2011 to Nov. 30, 2012 at Chicago Assembly Plant; certain 2010-2013 Lincoln MKS vehicles built June 2, 2011 to Oct. 31, 2011 at Chicago Assembly Plant; and certain 2010-2013 Ford Police Interceptor sedans built Dec. 1, 2009 to July 31, 2010 and Feb. 1, 2011 to Nov. 30, 2012 at Chicago Assembly Plant.

Lincoln takes to the Super Bowl with Twitter schizophrenia

Fri, 01 Feb 2013

Lincoln has officially pulled off the wraps on its ad for this year's Super Bowl. As you may recall, the company invited people to send in their tweets to help craft the spot's story line with Jimmy Fallon in the director's chair. The company chose five tweets and ran with them, and the result is, well, about as focused as your average online comment thread. We do get plenty of shots of the all-new Lincoln MKZ, as well as at least one comment on the interior leather's suppleness.
Do we learn a single thing about the brand's new honey? Nope. But there's a turtle crossing, a band of bikers, a German farming student and herd of alpacas. Mostly, the ad just makes us tired. You can check out the full spot before it airs during the big game by watching it below. We'll be busy preparing for the alpacalypse.
AOL Autos' associate editor Peter Bigelow went deeper in his criticism. Have a read: Lincoln's Super Bowl Ad is A Flop.
