This is a fantastic 1947 Lincoln Continental. It was restored by well known Lincoln enthusiast Ron Bloom who has owned the car for more than 40 years. Due to Ron's health the car hasn't been driven much in the last decade but it has been well stored.

Ron Bloom bought this car in 1964 it was his dream car since he was 10 years old,  Ron fully restored the car. Engine, transmission, exterior and interior where all refurbished over the following 10 yrs.

The car was repainted 10 years ago and then a new cloth top installed

Car has all the factory options available at that time including windshield washers.

Ron bloom was a board member for the classic car club of America and the Lincoln owners club for many years. He also was best known for his fabulous
stainless steel replacement parts manufacturing for classic Lincoln's. A true craftsman.

Some locals may recall Dennis Johnson of the Seattle supersonics riding in the back of this Lincoln after the 1979 championship parade in Seattle with
300,000 supporters looking on.

The body and chassis are in extremely nice condition. No rust to be found at all. The paint is quite nice with just a few very minor blemishes showing. The glass is all great.

The Interior too is in excellent condition. The Red leather seats have just a tiny bit of patina showing. The dash is beautiful. The convertible top and tonneau cover are great.

The engine starts easily and the car is quite drivable. It runs great when cold but starts to run a bit rough as it warms up and I suspect the ignition system needs attention. The gauges all work. It has a new battery. There are a few things not working such as horns, wipers, clock probably due to not being used much in recent years.  The brakes work great. The gearbox shifts easily and smoothly through all gears. The vacuum powered top goes up and down great.

It comes with a clear title, Lincoln manuals and lots of Lincoln club literature.

This car is in overall fantastic condition and will likely only need minor tuning and attention to be in extremely usable condition. this classic continental has not been driven for about  8 years. With a new battery, spark plugs and fresh fuel we were able to get it running and driving but would advise new owner to have the car serviced before any long driving adventures.

Buyer is responsible for shipping costs and arrangements.
The Lincoln can be viewed by appointment in Snohomish WA.
I reserve the right to end the auction at any time.
Must be picked up within 30 days.

Please feel free to ask any questions.

Please watch the video of this car in action:

How long will the 'golden age' of performance last?

Sat, Mar 26 2016

High-powered sports and luxury cars were everywhere at the New York Auto Show, prompting the obvious question for enthusiasts: How long will this golden age of performance last? Industry leaders have some time before regulations elevate the Corporate Average Fuel Economy level in 2025. Even then, they expect cars rippling with power to survive in some form. "Is it the end of an era," I don't think so," said Ola Kallenius, Daimler AG board member for Mercedes-Benz cars marketing and sales. "That performance element of individual mobility I don't think will ever go away." Kallenius, who oversaw the company's AMG division from 2010-2013, expects it to continue to grow. Last year, AMG sold a record 68,875 units around the world, an increase of 44.6 percent over 2014, with strong growth in the US, China, and Germany. Still, there's always the potential for gas to spike, and pending fuel economy regulations are looming. That could lead AMG to add electrification to its products, Kallenius said, pointing to the electric SLS as a test case. Chevy is also thinking ahead, said Al Oppenheiser, chief engineer of the Camaro. He wouldn't bite when asked about electrification for the Camaro (he did say "never say never"), but admitted in 2025 "it's going to be pretty tough to sell V8s." For now, things are rosy for muscle cars, and Chevy confidently showcased the 640-hp Camaro ZL1 in coupe and convertible form in New York. "I think that this is truly the golden age of performance," Oppenheiser said. It's hard to disagree. News & Analysis News: The 2017 Mazda MX-5 Miata RF was a show-stopper in New York. Analysis: There was a palpable energy when this RF — for Retractable Fastback — was revealed the night before the show at a trendy off-site venue near the Hudson River. Even as a parade of SUVs and flashy luxury cars rolled out the rest of the week, the Miata remained a hot topic. The Retractable Fastback is really a clever targa top, with part of the roof stowing behind the seats, adding about 100 pounds compared to the standard convertible. It makes the car more practical and arguably more attractive. The RF continues Mazda's tradition of selling the Miata with a hardtop variant. The first and second generations offered a detachable one, and a power retractable hardtop (a $1,700 option) was available on third-gen models. Judging by its reception in New York, the RF could prove to be even more popular than its predecessors.

Conan O'Brien takes McConaughey's Lincoln ad to its logical conclusion

Thu, 11 Sep 2014

We all had to see this coming. Conan O'Brien has released a parody of Matthew McConaughey's new ads for the 2015 Lincoln MKC and remixed them with lines from one of his most critically acclaimed recent roles.
The now much darker commercial probably isn't how Lincoln would prefer the MKC to be marketed, but really in a few of the actual ads, McConaughey already seems moments away from breaking into a full Rustin Cohle from True Detective impression. The cadence and tone of his voice are just so close to that character, especially in the one where he's talking to the bull standing in the middle of the road. It very nearly verges on parody anyway; Conan is just turning all of this up to 11.
It's a little surprising that the writers didn't dig a little deeper into the McConaughey oeuvre for the parody. Maybe McConaughey could have taken the MKC for a party at the Moon Tower from Dazed and Confused. In any case, it's worth a quick watch, so check it out.

Ford announces free brake pad offer if customers stop by dealers

Mon, 04 Aug 2014

These days, when you buy a new car, it's not unreasonable to expect a certain period of free maintenance to come along as well. Sometimes this is through the life of the warranty, in other cases a little less. But Ford Motor Company is going beyond those deals for at least one part of its cars. As of now, if you buy a set of Motorcraft brake pads for a Ford, Lincoln or Mercury model, you get free replacements for as long as you own the vehicle. The offer is good at Ford or Lincoln dealers and Quick Lane Tire & Auto Centers.
"We will replace the pads for as long as you own the vehicle," said Elizabeth Weigandt to Autoblog. She did clarify that the Motorcraft pads are generally for models from the '90s or newer. Also, to take advantage of this program, a person must return to the same dealer each time to get the free parts.
Of course, Ford isn't just handing out brake pads to anyone who walks by; there are certain stipulations. First, the components have to be worn down to less than three millimeters to be eligible, and the buyer still has to pay for the labor to install them. If the model is used as a fleet vehicle for commercial purposes like as a taxi or limousine, this offer also doesn't apply; the same thing for racecars. On the plus side, if you recently bought a set of pads from one of the participating locations, you're still in luck. The deal covers parts purchased as of July 1.
