1992 Lexus Sc400, 1jzgte, R154, Mkiv Parts, Bw Turbo, Original Paint on 2040-cars
Athens, Alabama, United States
HISTORY: Up for sale is my 1992 SC400. I am the fourth owner and have had this car for over seven years now. The original owner was a doctor out of Birmingham, AL., who ordered it from a dealer in Wisconsin. The second owner was a lady who owned it for about 7 years. She owned it locally and had it serviced at the local Huntsville, AL., Lexus dealership. I have the receipts. My buddy bought it from her. He only owned it for about 6 months. I just turned 40, and I have come to realize that this is getting old, and I need a truck. I am in no way shape or form, hurting for money, so I ask each of you who are interested in this car, please don’t waste my time, if not a serious buyer. No joyrides please. It is the very first year of the Lexus luxury coupe. It has the following modifications all done by myself, minus some of the wiring. The color is the original factory pearl white paint with SEM black landau painted interior. I had the front and rear bumper painted with the gas tank cover when I performed the swap. The body itself has about 300K but the ODO is showing only 135K, but the original paint is still very glossy and shiny. Anyone who has seen this car, knows how clean it is. The 1JZ had only approximately 54K miles. When I did the motor swap, I had the power steering rebuilt, new valve cover gaskets, new clips on injectors, new water pump, had alternator rebuilt, flow tested the injectors, and ALL seals were replaced. Still have ALL receipts of work and the ORIGINAL window sticker. The trunk still has the original full size spare tire, jack and first aid kit. I removed the 12 disc changer and the console cellular phone. Everything on the car works, with the exception of power antenna (which is still on the car and I have it unplugged in the rear), and cruise control (removed with swap, still have module). The door hinges do not pop, climate screen has NO bleeding, and cranks up every time after allowing the fuel pump to prime for 2-3 seconds. It has been my DD for almost a year. I did not originally build this SC to be my daily driver, only occasional.
I am asking $11K for this car. Where else can you get a very nice clean car that has been through completely, for this amount? Car made 467rwhp at 16psi on 93 pump gas, and 522rwhp at 21psi on pump gas, without any early detonation. I have videos of the dyno to prove it. It was also over 100 degrees in the bay when this was done. Pulls pretty strong, no noise, no nothing. Just the whistle of the BW singing to yours ears. I can do 117mph by GPS in the 3rd gear. I might be missing a few things here and there, but the car has been garaged since the day I bought it. I spared no expense and you can feel free to look it over and under at your expense or use my garage. I actually encourage it. I have provided plenty of pictures, and if you need more of a particular area, feel free to ask. I have saved over 1K photos of this build and for insurance purposes.

BAD: Rear main seal is leaking I believe it is due to the original oil catch can setup was not allowing the crankcase pressure to properly vent with me using a wye to split the valve cover vents into one inlet on can. The new one was installed two days ago and has a vacuum port through the intake and two separate inlets, size -10 AN. It has an idling issue at random. At dead cold up to operating temperature it is perfect, but after driving for about 10 miles or so and completely warmed up, the idle starts to surge, making the wideband go crazy. It doesn’t do this all the time, but most of the time. With the A/C on, it idles perfect, at 12.3-13.8. I have adjusted the AEM several times to adjust it, but I only made it worse. I am NOT a tuner. The tuner bill alone with the upgraded lines, were over $3700 bucks with a receipt to prove it. My email address is 1jzsc400@gmail.com or call me directly at 205-482-5533. If you TEXT ME, I WILL NOT REPLY, IF YOU ARE SERIOUSLY INTERESTED IN THIS CAR, THEN CALL OR EMAIL. Thanks for viewing and have a great day.

Why the Lexus GS death rumors aren't surprising
Wed, May 3 2017For months, rumors have persisted that the Lexus GS is dying, to be replaced in the lineup by the ever-growing ES. After spending some time with one, we can't really figure out why it hasn't happened sooner. For a long time, the smaller, less expensive, more efficient front-wheel-drive Lexus ES has been growing in size and dominating the rear-wheel-drive GS in sales. As customers move from sedans into crossovers, Lexus' five-car lineup of the CT, IS, ES, GS, and LS is looking a bit too crowded. We shouldn't lament the loss of another rear-wheel-drive sedan. Lexus customers sure as hell haven't. There are better options available. Outside of the GS F, the Lexus GS isn't a car that encourages you to drive in a way that would take advantage of a rear-wheel setup. In the rain and the snow, the front-wheel drive ES is likely to be a more stable and sure-footed car. If you want power, the less expensive ES 350 actually has a more powerful engine than the base GS 200t. It's nearly a second quicker to 60 mph as well. Stepping up to a GS 350 puts a nearly $12,000 divide between the ES and the GS. Yes, you can get the GS with all-wheel drive, but how many people well and truly need it? Size-wise, the ES is nearly identical to the GS, with the ES being longer but narrower by just over an inch in either direction. Being front-wheel drive, the ES has better rear packaging, meaning a roomier rear seat. The GS does beat the ES on cargo capacity, but on nearly every other measurement the ES is roughly identical or better. Another editor noticed the exact same thing when the current ES debuted nearly four years ago. That goes for pre- and post-refresh models. The ES isn't quite as handsome as the GS (as long as you ignore the spindle situation up front). From some angles, the ES looks like nothing more than the tarted up Toyota Avalon it is. From behind the wheel, the GS fails to convey any sense of excitement or occasion. It's simply a shoulder shrug of a car. When competition like the BMW 5 Series or Mercedes-Benz E-Class offer both refinement and a decent infusion of fun, it's hard to make a case for the Lexus. The ES isn't any better, but with a base price of $39,895 it's a far more reasonable proposition than a $47,305 GS. Our test car was starting to show its age, as the competition has long sailed by when it comes to noise, vibration, and harshness. Lexus quiet this GS 200t was not. All that said, it seems that customers have already spoken.
Cars most likely to be involved in accidents
Tue, Nov 30 2021Data from Insurify shows which models have the most accident-prone drivers behind the wheel. It also shows the proportion of the drivers of said vehicles with an at-fault accident on record in the past seven years, based on Insurify’s analysis of over 4 million car insurance applications. For reference, the national average is 10.78%, and each of these vehiclesÂ’ drivers represent a statistically significant increase over that. Now, it would be easy to infer that these cars are dangerous, but such is not necessarily the case. Remember, drivers cause accidents, not cars. These just happen to be the cars that accident-prone drivers drive. YouÂ’ll notice that many are mainstream, affordable cars, often with decent crash ratings. Also keep in mind that vehicle accidents are up since the beginning of the pandemic, so no matter what you drive, please drive safely. 10. Hyundai Ioniq This affordable, electrified vehicle platform sneaks into this list with 14.45% of drivers with a recent at-fault accident on record. 9. Lexus CT Another hybrid, this Prius-powered Lexus beats the national average at 14.57%. 8. Toyota Prius V Yet another hybrid, the larger but discontinued member of the Prius family sees 14.72% of its drivers with recent accidents. 7. Mazda CX-3 The Mazda CX-3, which is discontinued for the 2022 model year, sees the accident-prone making up 14.9% of its drivers. 6. Infiniti Q60 The second and final luxury car on this list has more accident-prone drivers than average, at 14.93%. 5. Subaru Impreza The first of two Subarus on this list has 15.1% of drivers with recent accidents on record. 4. Hyundai Genesis Coupe The Genesis Coupe was only on the market for a brief span before it was discontinued and Genesis spun off into its own luxury brand. That said, it too beats the national average for accidents, at 15.29%. 3. Subaru WRX Despite its standard all-wheel drive, the boy-racer WRX has 15.44% of drivers with a prior accident in the last seven years. 2. Kia Stinger We love the Kia Stinger, and had great luck with our long-termer that graced the Autoblog garage for a year. That said, 15.75% of its drivers represent have a recent accident on record. 1. Scion FR-S This fun two-seater attracts the most accident prone drivers, with 15.87% with recent at-fault crashes. Houston road rage incident devolves into all-out brawl
Tue, May 17 2016The video is no longer available. It appears the associated account has been terminated. Chaos erupted on a Houston freeway last weekend when an altercation spiraled out of control and ended up in a battle-royale style brawl in the middle of traffic. According to KTRK, David Dao and his daughter were traveling along FM 1960 on the morning of May 14 when they came upon a white Honda and a blue Ram truck parked in the right lane. The drivers and passengers of the vehicles were engaged in a spirited argument about something that had happened moments before Dao pulled up. Dao parked in his lane to block traffic in an attempt at making sure other drivers didn't hit the people fighting in the right lane, and instructed his daughter to start filming the incident in case they were needed as witnesses. As Dao's daughter filmed, the incident quickly escalated–harsh words were exchanged, a drink was thrown in a woman's face, and then the driver of the Ram kicked in the Honda's grille. "I couldn't believe it. As soon as he kicked the grille, I was like, 'This is going down now," said Dao. "I was thinking this is going to be bad. At that time, I knew because there was physical damage." As soon as the Ram driver kicked the Honda the entire situation went sideways and devolved into a huge brawl, with the people from both vehicles throwing wild punches and grappling with one another. A woman who was a passenger in the Ram attempted to break up the scrum but took a haymaker in the face for her troubles. Eventually, the fight broke up and the people returned to their vehicles which Dao assumed meant that the altercation was over. Apparently though, the Ram driver felt he hadn't made his point, and he reversed at high speed into the Honda, smashing the fascia and buckling the hood. The Ram then sped off westbound on U.S. 290 with the Honda on its tail. According to the Harris County Sheriff's Office, the incident was not reported and there is no word what happened to the brawlers after they left the scene.
