1996 Lexus Lx450 Pearl White, 190k Private Owner, Moving Sale on 2040-cars
Philadelphia, Pennsylvania, United States
I am selling my SUV. It is a 1996 Lexus LX450. I brought it from a dealer in Florida as a trade-in in 2003 when it had 96k miles. It now has 190K. As I have been traveling overseas extensively since 2011, it has not been driven much in the past 3 years (3,000 mile a year). The car has been parked near my house in University City area, Philadelphia. Over the years, it developed dents and scratches on the bumpers and sides. Other than that it looks fine, especially for its age. In the 11 years I owned it I replaced breaks and rotor, alternator, a condenser for the AC. Overall well maintained. The car did not develop any major mechanical problems. Minor issues that I need to disclose: front power seats could not move backward. Right rear power door lock does not work, need manual lock. In addition, the cable that locks the hood down is jammed and need repair. The hood is currently is locked down by improvised lock nut. It is still driving well and smooth, giving 18mpg on highway and 12 local. I am moving, must sell. The car has current PA emission until Sept. 2014. Out of state buyers is responsible for your own state's emission test. If you state's law says otherwise, please do not bid. Local pick up only, no shipping. |

2013 Lexus ES earns five stars from NHTSA
Wed, 05 Dec 2012The 2013 Lexus ES has earned a five-star crash rating from the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration. The 2013 ES 350 and ES 300h hybrid earned the highest ratings in each of the government's crash evaluations, including overall driver safety, frontal crashes and overall side impacts, save one. The sedan only achieved a four-star rating in the NHTSA rollover protection test, but that fault wasn't enough to keep the vehicle from earning a five-star designation overall.
The announcement doesn't mention the recent Consumer Reports claim that the ES comes with a faulty emergency trunk release that can be easily broken in a panic situation.
As you may recall, the 2013 ES 350 carries an MSRP of $36,100, plus an $895 destination fee and offers buyers a 268-horsepower 3.5-liter V6 good for 248 pound-feet of torque, as well. The ES 300h, meanwhile, stickers at $38,850 plus the same destination charge.

Lexus pushing upmarket as others move down, LF-LC production hinted [w/video]
Mon, 09 Dec 2013Jeff Bracken, Lexus' US group vice president and general manager, knows his company lost its position as America's biggest luxury brand back in 2011, and it's a mantle that his employer probably won't be getting back any time soon. That's because Lexus is electing not to follow the luxury segment's downmarket trend any more than its $32,500 CT 200h hybrid hatchback. "Since we won't be going down below $30,000, it will be very difficult for us to ever regain luxury leadership," Bracken admitted on Autoline After Hours late last week.
Rivals Mercedes-Benz, BMW and Audi all have new low-end entries on sale or in the wings to entice new buyers and fortify their CAFE scores, but Lexus has Toyota and Scion to capture sales underneath its lineup. Instead, Bracken hints that Lexus is going upmarket and higher-performance, fueling ongoing rumors of a LFA successor, or perhaps a new offering based on the lauded 2012 LF-LC coupe concept shown above, a production version of which could also slot in where the unloved SC convertible left off. "We need to begin bringing to market luxury performance... higher performance vehicles. IS-F certainly was the beginning of that, maybe on the lower end," says Bracken.
Later in the online video interview show, Bracken gets even more candid:
