Performance:
Engine and transmission are in like-new condition. Very smooth ride and very good and powerful (306 horses), silky-smooth acceleration with a 6-speed automatic transmission. This is not the 4-cyl engine - it's the big powerful one that is also in the GS series. It is a naturally-aspirated V6 with 306 horses that will do 0-60 in 5.6 seconds according to the reviews. These cars also come with steering-wheel paddle shifters that you can use when driving in steptronic (pseudo-manual) mode, although I normally drive it in auto mode all the time where there is an abundance of power already. I have never hot-roded it (too old for that), but it's nice to know that you have all this power when you need it. It's also the perfect blend between power and gas mileage (20 mpg city, 27 mpg hwy, which is very good for a sports sedan). It also has factory equipped 18 inch wheels with V-rated low-profile tires, a rear-spoiler, dual exhausts and a very sporty look.
Condition:
This car is a beautiful gray metallic (not black) 4-door sedan with tinted windows and rear spoiler - a beauty just to look at!, with Lexus-style supple black leather with maple wood trim and accents. It just turned 101k miles, but has been very well maintained and drives like new (no exaggeration). Free Carfax is available upon request. In 2010, 30k+ highway miles were put on the car. The exterior has a few scratches (it's a 2006 model) but the interior is immaculate! The tires are still new (about 70% tread left). The spare has never been used. The trunk is clean and has a grocery shopping (cargo) net built in. I just had the brakes done on all 4 wheels - brand new rotors and premium ceramic pads. This car uses a timing chain so there is no need to do a "timing belt" replacement. This car has been babied as long as I have owned it, and it drives like a dream! with synthetic-oil changes. It has never been wrecked and the paint is original (vehicle history is available for free). This car is very dependable and reliable - you can get in it and drive anywhere without worries - just put gas! Car is 1 out of 4 vehicles, now driven only on occasion (replaced by a new car.) Please email me if you have any questions.

Toyota and Lexus recalling 235,000 hybrid CUVs and sedans over separate issues
Wed, 04 Sep 2013When it rains, it pours. Toyota has announced a pair of separate but voluntary North America recalls covering approximately 235,000 vehicles built between 2006 and 2011. The larger of the two recalls targets Toyota's hybridized crossovers, the Lexus RX400h and Toyota Highlander Hybrid. 133,000 units, including 2006-2010 Highlander and 2006-2008 RX crossovers are covered in the campaign. The other recall affects 102,000 IS350 sedans, IS350C convertibles and GS350 sedans built between 2006 and 2011.
With the CUVs, the faults in the parallel circuits of the transistors can cause heat damage in the inverter assembly, triggering an abundance of warning lamps and sending the vehicle into limp mode. The Lexus sedans are being recalled due to loose bolts on the variable valve timing controller. Detected by unusual underhood sounds on startup, the issue can cause the engine to stop while driving. The inverter issue is also triggering similar recalls in Japan and Europe.
At the moment, it's unclear if any of these issues have caused any crashes or injuries. Toyota says it plans to notify owners of the recall via snail mail. Additional information for owners can be found on the recall sites for Toyota and Lexus or by calling Toyota's customer service line, at 1-800-331-4331. Lexus GX and LX future may be in doubt
Fri, Apr 3 2015With the debut of an all-new RX, Lexus is in a position for continued strong sales in the luxury SUV arena. The fourth-generation RX has grown, making room for the new NX model beneath it. But further up the ladder, things could change for the GX and LX. In an interview with Autoblog at the 2015 New York Auto Show, Lexus executive vice president Mark Templin gave some hints at the future of his brand's SUV lineup. "With NX and RX, we have a really good one-two punch in the crossover segments, and we think we can cover most of the markets with that," he said. As for the larger, three-row GX and LX models, which are built on a traditional ladder-frame chassis, things aren't so clear. Templin noted the the success of both models all over the world – the LX is the best-selling Lexus in Saudi Arabia. The same is true for sales here, he said: "We do very well with those products in the United States – GX has been a great product for us in the US for the last couple of years since its initial introduction. But the future of those vehicles longer term is in doubt because of regulations that are being driven by governments all over the world." Don't start stockpiling LX 570s in anticipation of shortages just yet. Templin didn't give any specifics; he just notes that tightening fuel economy and emissions regulations could affect product planning. In our analysis, if and when GX rides off into the sunset, Lexus still needs a midsize, three-row SUV to fill that gap. The most likely candidate for that is some variation on the RX. Whether or not that's the case, don't expect a BMW-like proliferation of body styles from Toyota's luxury division. "It creates problems. It creates complexity, that's hard for every step of the process," Templin said, nothing that too many models stresses the design department, manufacturing, and even dealers inventory selection. As for the bottom end of the lineup, Templin wouldn't comment on a compact SUV below the NX, saying "I think there are more potential options for us in the future, but we're not trying to grow the number of models we have in our lineup. It's not really what our core business is about." For now, Lexus and Templin are focused on launching the RX, which accounts for three of every 10 Lexus models ever sold. The 2016 model, available in RX 350 and RX 450h hybrid versions, goes on sale by the end of the year. Related Video:
Lexus regrets not doing 3-row CUV before RC coupe [UPDATE]
Tue, May 12 2015UPDATE: The source clarifies that rather than planning new small cars and crossovers, Lexus intends to rely on the ones it already has in its lineup. The text below has been revised accordingly. Automakers try to give its dealers (and by extension, their customers) the vehicles they're asking for. In Lexus' case, that's come down to a sport coupe and a three-row crossover. The Japanese luxury automaker ended up prioritizing the former with the launch of the RC coupe, but in retrospect, it feels it should have gone with the seven-seater instead. This according to Toyota's North American chief Jim Lentz in speaking to Automotive News at its provisional headquarters in Plano, TX. "In hindsight, if I was making this decision 10 years ago, seeing what I see today, the three-row [crossover] probably would have been the better play to come out first," Lentz to AN. "Strategically that's a more important vehicle to have than necessarily a lower volume, higher priced image product." Crossovers and SUVs represent big business for Lexus, whose five-seat RX (pictured above) is its biggest seller. The more compact NX is off to a solid start as well, but the brand's only three-row offerings are truck-based sport-utes like the GX and LX. Even without the three-row crossover, however, Lexus has been performing admirably. Rising sales have it trailing only BMW and Mercedes in the US market for luxury automobiles. Adding a three-row crossover to target the likes of the Audi Q7 and Mercedes GL will evidently be the next top priority for Lexus, but it's not the only plan the luxury brand has for the near future. Lentz indicated that the company plans to rely on its lineup of near-luxury and entry-level luxury sedans and crossovers moving forward, but isn't interested in going after the Mercedes CLA and Audi A3. "Luxury cars cost a certain dollar amount for a reason," said Lentz. "I don't want to cheapen my cars just to offer a lease that's $20 a month less."
