2002 Lexus Is300 Sportcross Wagon! Rare! Factory Nav! Unmolested! Adult Owned! on 2040-cars
United States
I have up for bid here a very RARE Lexus IS300 Wagon, also known as the SportCross model. This is a very rare car first because there were only a few thousand SportCross ever made, plus this one has all factory options including heated leather seats, CD changer, HID headlights, yellow fog lights, sunroof, and factory navigation! What tops it off is this one was always adult owned - unmolested - with no aftermarket parts or modifications. Completely stock vehicle. NON SMOKER! NO PETS or funny odors. The main selling point for this car is the fact that it was obsessively maintained. I am the 3rd owner, and I can tell you that I am very meticulous when it comes to my cars being mechanically perfect. The car has a spotless CARFAX report and it shows. It was purchased new at a sticker price of $43k and spent most of its life in Florida as a daily driver and that is where it got the bulk of its mileage. A neighbor bought the car from him and very shortly after I convinced him to sell it to me.
The following is recent maintenance done to the car: @ 135,000 miles:
@ 140,000 miles:
@ 149,000 miles:
This is a true turn-key used car that needs no work and won't need any work for a long time. Please do you research - simple google and Lexus forum searches will teach you that the most common mechanical work needed to this car, is already listed above as being changed. All work was done from my mechanic at a Toyota Dealership. Don't let the mileage fool you - if you buy one with 100k you will dump $3,000 in the next couple years doing exactly what I already did. My car didn't even need it all - I'm just super anal and want my cars to be mechanically perfect so I changed anything that showed even slight sign of wear. The car's interior is still in great condition with a few minor imperfections. Study the pics. 2 issues worth noting: The patch on the passenger seat to cover up a 2 inch rip from getting worse. That patch never bothered me too much but you can get the bottom section of the seat re-upholstered for around $150 or buy a used is300 seat from a junkyard for $150. if it bothers you. The other issue is the CD player/changer doesn't always work the first time you turn it on. The AM/FM/Tape works fine, but the CD sometimes skips and if you turn it on and off a few times, it stops skipping. I've tried copied CD's and non copied and it does it for all of them. This also didnt bother me much but if it bothers you, there are plent of these OEM head units on eBay as well. The car's exterior for the age and mileage is in above average condition. No dents or dings or bodywork or paintwork that I know of. All panels are showing the VIN # sticker and the CARFAX reads clean. It has some scratches like any daily driver would - nothing major - just surface scratches that I couldn't even get to show up in pics. Has some hood rock chips, and the rear bumper has the most imperfections. I captured them in 2 pics so you can see. Overall the body is in great shape. Paint is good too - but keep in mind you are buying a used car. Please come with realistic expectations; you are buying a used car. Engine, Transmission, Suspension, Exhaust - main components of the car are in outstanding condition. Bring your mechanic. When I take my car to the mechanic I say make it perfect and hand me the bill. I trust him and anything he recommends, I fix. Not cheap about it. No matter what this car sells for I am losing a lot of money on it. I'd rather sell a perfect car than try to hide something and be dishonest. The service you see done listed above which was done at 149k was "I am going to sell this car so I want to give it to the shop one last time to make it perfect" service. Changed things that still had life left, just because they were showing age, just so that you or your mechanic don't find a reason to say something is "wrong" with the car. I've described the car to the best of my ability. It is a used car being sold as-is no warranty obviously. Feel free to test drive or bring your mechanic to meet me near the King of Prussia PA area if you want to see the car before the auction ends. The title transfer and notary work will be done at Grisafi Insurance and Auto Tags in Trooper PA near KOP. I've sold 3 BMW's on eBay in the last few years - all my personal cars. All received positive feedback. My overall eBay feedback speaks for itself and should give you confidence when buying. I am selling this car because I bought another BMW. NO RESERVE!! GOOD LUCK!! |

What does a million-mile car really tell us?
Fri, Sep 18 2015A million miles. Nearly every car brand and motor oil company plays the million-mile marketing racket at some point. The typical recipe is to take a car that experienced a ton of low-stress highway miles, and make it a rolling testament to the long-term qualities of whatever reputation you're trying to prop up. Saab, Lincoln, Toyota, Honda, Ford, Chrysler. It's a tired game that I would normally just consider one of the pointless ranking exercises of our time. But the truth is, when it comes to a car's longevity, it's almost always the owner that makes the real difference, not the brand. Like a pitcher at a baseball game, the owner mostly determines the victories and the defeats for his car. Some specific models are the basement dwellers of our time – I'm looking at you, Chrysler car with the 2.7-liter engine! But a lot of cars and trucks hit right around the average that is a powertrain whose longevity is mainly determined by that person who turns the key and hopefully learns that patient art of long-term ownership. The best owners are the ones who deserve the attention. So with that in mind, let me introduce you to Matt Farah's Million Mile Lexus. This content is hosted by a third party. This Lexus could be written off as another cynical marketing exercise in this business, performed by those who didn't do the real driving in the past and have no plans at all on doing the bulk of the driving in the future. Matt's actually doing a few things that are genuinely cool, though. Letting other auto journalists and enthusiasts drive it along the way and giving Regular Car Reviews a crack at it. Focusing on the rare virtues of the first-generation Lexus, which, to be frank, can out-diesel a diesel. There is a great story to be had with this car. This isn't a car that was "going to the junkyard" and magically given the kiss of life. That story is far more vast than a guy who bought a high-mileage car in great overall condition. This isn't a car that was "going to the junkyard" and magically given the kiss of life so that it can endure the ages. This Lexus, like all other high-mileage models worthy of our love, has been given one hell of a good maintenance regimen by the prior owners. It was taken care of and primarily maintained at the dealership, where it probably received the best parts and service, thanks in enormous part to owners who were willing to pay that exorbitantly high bill.
Lexus IS to get Deviant at SEMA
Wed, 21 Aug 2013It's time to start gathering intel on SEMA, and it starts with this drawing of a modified 2014 Lexus IS. Lexus ran a competition on DeviantART, an online community for artists, to find a suitably modified IS that it could build and display at the temple of all things aftermarket in Las Vegas. The winner, as judged by a four-person panel from among more than 600 entries, is the IS rendered above by Rob Evans.
The winner looks like the beginning of a build for an IS entry into Japan's Super GT series, with a seriously exaggerated front spoiler and rear diffuser and fender flares that aren't just punched out, they're throwing 12-punch combinations.
Evans will have his car built by VIP Auto Salon and plastered all over Lexus materials promoting its presence at the show. Oh, and he gets an IS F-Sport for a year, among other prizes. Second place went to Lucia Lee, third place to Guangho Huang. A press release below has more on the competition and the winner.
Pontiac Aztek enjoys rebirth thanks to Millennials
Fri, Sep 11 2015Apparently, Millennials – those between 18 and 34 – aren't afraid to look different on the road, and they like performance, too. A new study by Edmunds is discovering some surprising vehicle choices by this group. Among them, the long-derided Pontiac Aztek is getting a new day in the sun with 25.5 percent its buyers coming from this generation in the first half of 2015. For comparison, Millennials represent an average of 16.8 percent of used car purchases. The Aztek is slowly shaking its reputation as a styling abomination, which seems tied to its appearance on Breaking Bad. The show premiered in 2008, and the Pontiac has been on this list for four of the past five years, according to Edmunds. It even led the pack in 2010. A recent Retro Review from MotorWeek also showed that the crossover wasn't always so hated. While it's still a shock to see the Aztek on any popularity list, the awkward-looking crossover only ranks sixth among Millennials. The vehicle with the biggest portion of buyers from the generation is the Dodge Magnum with 27.6 percent. According to Edmunds, the bluntly styled wagon is especially popular in Detroit and Chicago. The Chrysler Pacifica comes in a close second at 27.3 percent. When it comes to used cars, value and utility appear to trump just about anything else for many Millennial buyers," Edmunds analyst Jeremy Acevedo said in the report. Young buyers aren't afraid of sporty rides, either. The Subaru WRX has 26.4 percent Millennial buyers to rank third place on the list, and the Volkswagen R32 takes fifth at 25.7 percent. Just a few points lower in seventh place is the Nissan GT-R at 25.4 percent, and the final performance machine in 10th place is the Lexus IS-F with 24.7 percent. Related Video:
