Autoblog Minute: New car customer satisfaction down according to latest ACSI report

Show full video transcript text [00:00:00] Customers have spoken and automobile satisfaction is down in 2015. I'm Chris McGraw and this is your Autoblog Minute. The American Customer Satisfaction Index or ACSI released its updated numbers and according to the survey, new car buyer satisfaction is down for the third straight year. According to an ACSI press release, customer satisfaction with new automobiles has fallen 3.7 percent, to 79 on its 100-point scale. The ACSI report is based on over 4,100 customer surveys collected in the second quarter of 2015 Sitting at the top of the industry in customer satisfaction is Toyota's Lexus brand with a score of 84. Which was good enough to dethrone Mercedes-Benz, which fell 3% to a score of 83. Of the Big Three, Ford was the only domestic automaker to maintain overall customer satisfaction with its score of 81. General Motors slipped 3% to 79 and Fiat Chrysler had a 5% drop, registering a score of 75 out the possible 100. What's driving this trend of customer dissatisfaction? 2015 Lexus RC F configurator heats up

Just over two weeks after Lexus activated its online configurator for the 2015 RC350, the Japanese luxury marque is flipping the switch on the car we really want to customize – the 467-horsepower RC F. In addition to letting us play about with various configurations for the new sports coupe, Lexus' latest builder is decidedly different and more visually pleasing. It also does away with the brand's typical, and occasionally unintuitive, grouping of options. In its place, we have a trio of simple, logical packages. There's a navigation pack that adds, um, navigation. It also includes in Lexus' Enform telematics suite. You can also select a Premium Pack, that adds luxury features like heated and vented seats, park assist and LED headlamps, while an all-weather pack tacks on a heated steering wheel, headlamp washers and a deicer for the wiper blades. There are some secondary options, too, including an attractive set of 19-inch wheels, an updated leather interior, adaptive cruise control and a moonroof. All in all, pretty standard fare. Lexus LF-1 Limitless looks like a curvy crossover concept

Lexus released a teaser for a new concept that will make its debut at the 2018 Detroit Auto Show, and it has quite the name. The company calls it the LF-1 Limitless, a name that wouldn't sound out of place on a battleship. According to Lexus, the name was chosen because this concept "is a flagship crossover that redefines the boundaries of luxury." Frankly, the boundaries that make up the high-dollar crossover segment are definitely well-tread by now. What we can tell is that the concept's heavily raked D-pillar suggests it will have a coupe-inspired look similar to the BMW X6 and Mercedes-Benz GLC Coupe. The bodywork features many curvy lines and exaggerated wheel arches. It will be interesting if this LF-1 has flagship size to go with its flagship description, which would put it in competition with the upcoming Audi Q8. This concept is well-worth keeping an eye on, since Lexus has a history of previewing future production models with the LF moniker. Examples include 2009's LF-Ch that became the CT 200h, 2012's LF-LC coupe that became the LC 500, 2013's LF-NX that became the Lexus NX crossover, and 2015's LF-FC that became the new LS sedan. Not everything makes it to production, such as the LF-SA mini car, and the LF-C2 that suggested an RC convertible. But there's a strong enough history of production cars coming from LF concepts that this LF-1 could be the preview of a new production model. Related Video:
