Up for sale is my 2002 Lexus SC430 Convertible

The interior is in incredible condition, no rips/splits/cracks/worn seams, the interior is just amazing.  Full power and heated front seats, headrests lift and tilt, very comfortable to drive.  Although the rear seats are in equally great condition, they are also the reason we decided to sell it; we need more leg-room for backseat passengers.  The exterior is a nice deep gloss black, takes well to a good wash/buff/wax, very sharp.  Navigation system works fine, the Mark Levinson stereo system sounds really nice, Cd player can be a bit finicky (doesn't like to play particular CDs), the power antenna does not extend but the radio still picks up my local channels just fine.  The climate control center has a couple of dead pixels (see pic, basically where a "5" doesn't show up as a full five, or a "9" doesn't show as a full nine - only on a couple of spots, not the entire screen), it's still easy to view and understand.  The air conditioning is not ice cold.

The exterior has a couple of dime-sized pings here and there - I took a picture of one of them to help describe what I mean.  There is an area on the bottom of the front bumper (passenger side) that has some curb scratches below the fog light, see photos for more details.  The convertible top goes up and down smooth, no grinding or stalling - very fast operation.  I'll be posting a video shortly that shows it in operation, along with the engine starting/running.  Please review the video to see top functioning and engine start & run.

The engine runs good, transmission shifts nice and smooth, no issues with rear-end, brakes are nice and solid, car tracks good and straight, tires are in good healthy condition appear to have plenty amount of tread left, the rims have some scratches on the edges but nothing overly critical, exhaust is nice a crisp deep sound.  Timing belt was changed about 52K miles ago, so you have about 38K miles before it should be changed again according to Lexus.

Although the car has a lot of miles on it, it certainly doesn't show.  Toyota/Lexus has used this engine in a number of models, and there are plenty running around with well over 300K miles on them.  This is not a cheap 150K/mile throw-away car, Toyota/Lexus is known for building long-life cars.  I cannot guarantee anything will not go wrong, but the likelihood is certainly much lower than most any other manufacturer.  I'm selling the car as-is/where-is, no warranties expressed or implied.  I'm more than happy to answer questions, and I'm also willing to help your shipping company get the car loaded.  Buyer is responsible for making shipping arrangements and paying any shipping fees.

I apologize for the pictures being a little dark, I didn't want to take the car outside because of the ice and rain.  As soon as we have some good sun I'll switch out the pictures for some sunny shots.  I have the title in-hand and ready to transfer.

Thanks.

J.D. Power: Vehicle dependability at all-time high, Lexus and Porsche lead

Wed, 13 Feb 2013

Each year, J.D. Power and Associates surveys original owners of three-year-old vehicles to find out what kinds of problems they have had experienced over the last 12 months, and then it uses this data to create its annual Vehicle Dependability Study. This means that the models in the 2013 study are 2010 model year vehicles, and J.D. Power rates each make as well as the top individual models based on how many problems were experienced per 100 vehicles (PP100).
Debunking the idea that carryover models are more dependable than new or updated models, the 2013 study found that the average carryover model experienced 133 PP100, while all-new or redesigned vehicles for the 2010 model year had 116 PP100; vehicles that received minor changes fared the best with just 111 PP100. The overall average for all makes was 126 PP100, which is the lowest figure since the findings were first issued in 1989.

Cars most likely to be involved in accidents

Tue, Nov 30 2021

Data from Insurify shows which models have the most accident-prone drivers behind the wheel. It also shows the proportion of the drivers of said vehicles with an at-fault accident on record in the past seven years, based on Insurify’s analysis of over 4 million car insurance applications. For reference, the national average is 10.78%, and each of these vehiclesÂ’ drivers represent a statistically significant increase over that. Now, it would be easy to infer that these cars are dangerous, but such is not necessarily the case. Remember, drivers cause accidents, not cars. These just happen to be the cars that accident-prone drivers drive. YouÂ’ll notice that many are mainstream, affordable cars, often with decent crash ratings. Also keep in mind that vehicle accidents are up since the beginning of the pandemic, so no matter what you drive, please drive safely. 10. Hyundai Ioniq This affordable, electrified vehicle platform sneaks into this list with 14.45% of drivers with a recent at-fault accident on record. 9. Lexus CT Another hybrid, this Prius-powered Lexus beats the national average at 14.57%. 8. Toyota Prius V Yet another hybrid, the larger but discontinued member of the Prius family sees 14.72% of its drivers with recent accidents. 7. Mazda CX-3 The Mazda CX-3, which is discontinued for the 2022 model year, sees the accident-prone making up 14.9% of its drivers. 6. Infiniti Q60 The second and final luxury car on this list has more accident-prone drivers than average, at 14.93%. 5. Subaru Impreza The first of two Subarus on this list has 15.1% of drivers with recent accidents on record. 4. Hyundai Genesis Coupe The Genesis Coupe was only on the market for a brief span before it was discontinued and Genesis spun off into its own luxury brand. That said, it too beats the national average for accidents, at 15.29%. 3. Subaru WRX Despite its standard all-wheel drive, the boy-racer WRX has 15.44% of drivers with a prior accident in the last seven years. 2. Kia Stinger We love the Kia Stinger, and had great luck with our long-termer that graced the Autoblog garage for a year. That said, 15.75% of its drivers represent have a recent accident on record. 1. Scion FR-S This fun two-seater attracts the most accident prone drivers, with 15.87% with recent at-fault crashes. Lexus GX has quietly more than doubled its sales this year

Sat, 26 Jul 2014

There are some things in this industry that we're perplexed by, like the infotainment system on our long-term Subaru WRX or why the Mitsubishi Mirage is allowed to exist, among other things. Let's add one more to that group, with the Lexus GX. It's not a particularly bad vehicle for a big, body-on-frame brute, remaining one of the only true SUVs in the mid-size luxury class, alongside the equally old fashioned Land Rover LR4.
Considering these things, then, what we're about to tell you makes very little sense - sales are up 135 percent through last month. The Japanese luxury marque has moved over 5,300 during the first six months of 2014, owing in no small part to a significant price drop over the 2013 model. Today, a GX starts at $49,085, while a year ago, it was $53,445.
Don't mistake this price decrease for charity, though. Lexus specifically built a lower-cost GX to lure in customers. According to WardsAuto, faux leather covers the cabin rather than the real stuff, while the overall package is decontented relative to what you might find in a typical Lexus.
