2001 Lexus Rx300 Base Sport Utility 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Cincinnati, Ohio, United States
We bought the car is 2003 with 65,000 miles we understood to be mostly highway. My wife drove it until early 2011.We kept this car thinking our son who is now 17-1/2 would eventually drive it. He shows absolutely no interest in getting his license (I cannot relate!). It has been in our driveway, driven occasionally for the last three years. The battery was purchased in January, so I could drive it for a month while waiting for parts for my car. It performed really well, especially considering the brutal month that was last January and that this car sits outside. This car has had religiously regular oil changes every 3,500 miles, has never been wrecked and has rarely been sat in, except for the driver seat, which looks as good as the rest of the interior. Everything works but the power antenna, which happens to be up, so the radio works fine. The CHECK ENGINE and VSC lights are on. It thinks the rear O2 sensor is bad. I bought a new one and it still thought it was bad. I changed it with the front sensor and it still thought it was bad. I checked the wiring and it all looks good to me. Past that, it's out of my realm. The exterior shows some scuffs and scratches, but nothing surprising for a car of this age and mileage. If you're buying it for a kid's first car, they'll do this much to it in the first month.

Calgary Airport converts handicap parking to Lexus-only stalls
Wed, Aug 23 2017At the YYC Calgary International Airport, travelers found that the usual accessible parking spots (referred to handicap or disability parking here in the U.S.) near the doors had been painted over, no longer saved for the people who need them. Instead, they were reserved for Lexus drivers as part of a marketing campaign. Understandably, the airport received a complaint after a family with access needs entered the short-parking area to find the Lexus logos painted where the accessible parking had been, as CBC News reports. The airport had sold the spaces to Lexus as a way to generate revenue as part of a marketing campaign. Even worse, YYC hadn't replaced the accessible spaces yet, though Calgary Airport Authority spokesperson Jody Moseley told CBC News the airport was in the process of moving them when it started to draw attention. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The story ends well, however: The Calgary Airport Authority is converting the Lexus spaces back to accessible parking, and said in a statement of apology that the new accessible stalls meant to replace the original ones will also remain in place, so it's a net gain for disabled travelers. YYC also apologized to Lexus Canada, which it says "did not play a role in selecting, and was not aware of, the locations for the campaign." Lexus issued its own apology, saying it would "more carefully scrutinize the details of these types of marketing campaigns" in the future. Toyota may put Mirai hydrogen fuel cell powertrain into a Lexus
Wed, Dec 24 2014Toyota is hoping to define the world of hydrogen fuel cell vehicles with its uniquely styled Mirai sedan in a fashion similar to the way the Prius pops into people's minds when they think of a hybrid. The Japanese automaker believes it can sell about 700 FCEVs worldwide in the first year alone and build rapidly from there to an estimated 3,000 sales in the US by 2017. Of course, not everyone is completely enamored with the Mirai's design. Toyota is rumored to have an alternative in the works to quell some of those naysayers, possibly taking flagship form with a new Lexus LS powered by fuel-cell tech. The LS FCEV could be unveiled by 2017 to sit at the very top of brand's lineup. According to an inside source speaking to the Australian website Motoring, the front end would feature larger air intakes to cool the electrical components. The fuel cell would reportedly be positioned under the front seat, and the hydrogen tanks would be located under and behind the rear seat. Somehow, Motoring claims that all of this might be lighter than the current LS600hL hybrid, to the tune about 440 pounds. The model is also claimed to offer a range of about 239 miles, just a bit shy of the Mirai's roughly 300 miles. Assuming this vehicle actually exists, the cost for buyers of this flagship would almost certainly ring up at more than the LS600hL's $120,440 base price. Autoblog has reached out to Toyota for any further info about this rumor, one way or the other. If we hear back, we'll update this story with the details.
