I've got a nice used Lexus LX470 with low miles (139,500) for sale. I've done lots of baseline maintenance on it and was planning on keeping it. My family is growing by 1 more soon, and I can only have one Land Cruiser. So here's the info....

The Good:

  • All OEM Parts
  • New Timing Belt
  • New Waterpump
  • New Thermostat
  • New Toyota Red Radiator Fluid
  • New Valve Cover Gaskets
  • New Spark Plugs
  • New Power Steering Rack
  • New Tie Rod ends
  • New front OEM U joints and balance driveshaft
  • New Air Filter
  • New Cabin Filter
  • New Strong Arm Hood Support Struts
  • Pfran LED Interior Light Kit
  • New 285/75-17 Nitto Terra Grapplers
  • New Method Racing Wheels (Double Standard)
  • Garmin Nuvi Navigation and a Cell Phone Dock
  • Plastidip coated Front Grill, Mirrors and Rear Lexus Emblem
  • New Optima Battery
  • Replaced Transfer Case and Rear Axle oil with Synthetic

The Bad

  • Paint Faded on Roof in many spots
  • Front DS CV boot leaks
  • Small Crack (1/2"-3/4") in dash
  • Tilt Wheel Function not working (not the fuse)
  • Steering Wheel has some wear
  • Wood Trim pc on Drivers Side door switch cracked and repaired
  • Front Seats a little worn
  • D light out in dash when it's in Drive (I have the bulbs)

I have a few extra parts and planned on doing more to it before we had a baby coming.

Parts:

  • Front Mud Flaps (OEM)
  • 2 volume Factory Service Manual from Lexus
  • AHC Fluid (was going to flush the system)
  • 2 Wheel Spacers 1-1/4" (not sure if I needed them)
  • Factory Running Boards (took them off)

I had some plans for this rig. Armor it with new front and rear bumpers. Replace CV boots. New Stereo Unit Double DIN. Skid Plates. I just have to stop working on it and stick to my FZJ80 that I've had for a while. I was going to sell it and keep the LX, but I'm attached to the 80, so the LX must go.

Let me know if you want to come by and check it out or call if you have any questions.

Maintenance I would still do to complete baseline....

  1. Transmission service
  2. Flush AHC system
  3. Flush brake fluid
  4. Replace CV boots
After that, you should be good to go for a long time.
For an additional $300, I could include a full stainless exhaust system from the exhaust manifolds back.
Good Luck!!

I want to disclose everything I know about this vehicle. I picked it up at an auction last December with plans to keep it and sell by FZJ80. If you check the Carfax, it shows that it was in an accident. From what I can tell, it was the front Driver side corner. I know that the Driver's side fender was replace and maybe the hood. I can't find the factory stickers on those. I did not see any signs of damage too far in, so it must have been not too bad. It did have a new headlight put in on the Driver's side since it looks newer than the other one. It's probably why the hood is not faded and the roof is. The brakes are at around 70%.

I have this for sale locally, so I can end the Auction at any time. I'd advise coming by to see it.......It's sold AS IS....no warranty..

Consumer Reports says infotainment systems 'growing first-year reliability plague'

Mon, 27 Oct 2014

The Consumer Reports Annual Auto Reliability Survey (right) is out, and the top two spots look much the same as last year's list with Lexus and Toyota in first and second place, respectively. However, there are some major shakeups for 2014, with Acura plunging eight spots from third in 2013 to 11th this year, and Mazda replaces it on the lowest step of the podium. Honda and Audi round out the top five. This year's list includes six Japanese brands in the top 10, two Europeans, one America and one Korean.
Acura isn't the only one taking a tumble, though. Infiniti is the biggest loser this year by dropping 14 spots to 20th place. Other big losses come from Mercedes-Benz with an 11-place fall to 24th, and GMC, which declines 10 positions to 19th.
Perhaps unsurprisingly, it's not traditional mechanical bugs hauling down these automaker's reliability scores. Instead, pesky problems with infotainment systems are taking a series toll on the rankings. According to Consumer Reports, complaints about "in-car electronics" were the most grumbled about element in new cars. Problem areas included things like unresponsive touchscreens, issues pairing phones and multi-use controllers that refused to work right.

Lexus leads J.D. Power's Vehicle Dependability Study for 2021

Thu, Feb 18 2021

J.D. Power's latest Vehicle Dependability Study is out, and, not surprisingly, Lexus sits at the top for the ninth time in the last 10 years. Right behind Lexus is Porsche, followed by Kia, which is the highest-ranked mass-market brand in the study. Genesis, last year's top-ranked brand (in its first year included in the results), fell from first to eighth, though the G80 sedan did earn an award in its midsize luxury segment. The Porsche 911 was called out as the Most Dependable Model by J.D. Power for the second time in the last three years. The vehicles being studied are from the 2018 model year, which means owners have had three years to get to know their cars and trucks. It's notable that this year's study shows a marked improvement in overall vehicle dependability as tracked by J.D. Power. The overall level of problems, scored by the number of problems per 100 vehicles (PP100), declined by 10% compared to last year.  "The study results validate what we have known for some time," said Dave Sargent, vice president of global automotive at J.D. Power. "Automakers are making increasingly dependable vehicles — but there are still some problem areas that need to be addressed and some warning signs on the horizon." Tesla makes its inaugural appearance on the Dependability Study, though its score of 176 PP100 isn't official. Tesla is the only automaker that has chosen not to grant J.D. Power permission to survey its owners in all 50 states. As we've pointed out in the past, the Vehicle Dependability Study includes eight major vehicle categories grouped by J.D. Power as follows: audio/communication/entertainment/navigation (ACEN); engine/transmission; exterior; interior; features/controls/displays (FCD); driving experience; heating, ventilation and air conditioning; and seats. All issues reported by owners are all tracked equally, which means a problematic phone pairing procedure dings an automaker's rating the same as a blown engine or transmission. And in fact, the ACEN category has more reported problems than any other, which means the majority of problems reported don't lead to a vehicle that leaves its owner stranded. 2017 LC 500 is the future of Lexus [w/video]

Mon, Jan 11 2016

The 2017 LC 500 shows where Lexus is headed. In this case it's not just a flashy grille and a big engine like earlier Lexus efforts. This time every facet of the engineering went into making the car handle better, and the styling and engineering were developed hand in hand. It won't set any sales records, but it will win a lot of eyeballs. Why is Lexus making another coupe? That's a fair question, as slow-selling two doors don't do much to improve market share. The reason for the LC is to make a statement, both in terms of style and engineering. It looks remarkably close to the 2012 LF-LC concept. And underpinning the taut styling is a new global architecture that will underpin future cars like the LS. This content is hosted by a third party. To view it, please update your privacy preferences. Manage Settings. The LC 500 is Toyota's way of saying, yet again, that it's serious about reforming the Lexus reputation into one that include performance and style. On paper the 467-horsepower, 5.0-liter V8 (the same as in the RC F and GS F) performance claim looks like sloppy handwriting, but Lexus claims a 0-60 time of less than 4.5 seconds. Rumors abound that more power will come to the LC lineup in a few years, most likely in some kind of turbocharged form. Backing up the engine is a ten-speed transmission. Yes, ten. Lexus claims the gearbox is nearly as fast as a dual-clutch automatic, and that the overall size is smaller than some eight speed 'boxes. Underpinning the LC is an all new structure that includes carbon fiber reinforced plastic, aluminum, and high-strength steel. Torsional rigidity is said to be better than the all-carbon fiber LF A supercar. We're worried the ride could be on the stiff side, with run flat tires on both standard 20-inch wheel and the optional 21-inch wheels seen on the show car. All hope for retaining a pleasant ride lies with the suspension, which is nearly all aluminum. But as we mentioned, this car is skewed towards performance, and Michelin Pilot Super Sport tires on show car promised new levels of lateral grip for a big Lexus. What's more promising is the claim that Lexus spend triple the standard time developing the steering feel and handling. This could be the best-handling Lexus ever, but don't expect the LC 500 to be a Porsche 911 competitor. Preconceptions aside, the LC is bigger than a Carrera and that alone dictates a different character. The Lexus is closer to the Mercedes-Benz S-Class Coupe and BMW 6 Series in size.
