Lexus LS 430 in very good condition. As you can see from the pictures the exterior and interior are very clean and in excellent condition for its age. The engine/drivetrain is in excellent, well maintained condition. My daughter inherited this car from my brother 2 years ago and I've put about $5,000 into it during that time (brakes, tires, maintenance, routine repairs, etc.). The car is very reliable--I'd have no issue driving it across country (we did that a while ago). It is being used daily so mileage may change. The only known issues are (i) a "ding" in the shape and size of a small ball bearing on the top front driver's side quarter panel that has a small amount of rust around it, (ii) the "VSC off" light is on (has been for years), (iii) the "check engine" light occasionally comes on--we've been told by our Lexus dealership that it's related to the catalytic converters and does not affect the engine otherwise. Dubai Police conscript 467-hp Lexus RC F into high-performance stable
Sun, Feb 8 2015The Dubai Police Department has added yet another... um, let's call it unconventional, cop car to its ranks. But rather than an ultra-exotic, mid-engined masterpiece, it's the V8-powered Lexus RC F. Finished in the white-and-green color scheme typical of Dubai's fuzz, the RC F was purchased alongside another Toyota product, a utilitarian Toyota Land Cruiser. While the off-road-ready SUV's purpose seems clear, enforcing the emirate's laws in the areas outside the city, the 467-horsepower Lexus will likely follow in the lead of Dubai's other high-performance offerings, appearing more for publicity and public relations than actual law enforcement. Why Lexus shies away from plug-in hybrids
Mon, Apr 20 2015Lexus may have softened its stance a bit from the anti plug-in vehicle ads the Toyota luxury badge ran last year, but at least one executive from the company casts a pretty critical eye towards the concept as a way to cut both emissions and refueling costs. In fact, Lexus doesn't really buy the fact that buyers of plug-in hybrids are really looking to save both gas and the environment, Green Car Reports says, citing an interview at the recent New York Auto Show with Lexus executive Mark Templin. Templin also said hydrogen fuel-cell technology may be a better way to edge towards zero emissions. Templin decried plug-in hybrid technology because it adds weight to vehicles, which contributes to poor emissions figures in the process. He added that plug-in vehicle buyers are motivated more by potential tax credits and solo driving rights in high-occupancy vehicle (HOV) lanes than cutting back on fuel use. Last summer, Lexus ran an supposedly tongue-in-cheek print ad poking fun at how long it takes to charge a plug-in vehicle and how using air conditioning can shorten a car's charging range.
