2003 Lexus Is300 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Holcomb, Kansas, United States
FOR SALE IS A 2003 LEXUS IS300. I PURCHASED THE CAR ALMOST A YEAR AGO AS A PROJECT TO MAKE A LITTLE EXTRA MONEY. THE CAR DID NOT RUN WHEN I GOT IT BUT I HAVE SINCE TAKEN CARE OF ALL MECHANICAL ISSUES THE CAR HAD. I DID A COMPLETE INSPECTION AND SERVICE OF THE DRIVETRAIN. FLUIDS, FILTERS, AND ALL SMALL COMPONENTS HAVE BEEN REPLACED. THERE ARE ALSO FOUR FRESH TIRES ON THE VEHICLE AND A GOOD MINI SPARE IN THE TRUNK. THE MAJOR ISSUE WITH THE VEHICLE THAT I HAD TO REPLACE WAS THE ECM. THERE ARE NO CHECK ENGINE LIGHTS AND I HAVE DRIVEN THE CAR FOR A COUPLE MONTHS TO INSURE ALL BUGS HAVE BEEN WORKED OUT. THIS CAR WOULD MAKE AND CAR FOR A COLLEGE STUDENT OR EVEN A DAILY DRIVER TO WORK OR ERANDS. LIKE I SAID, COSMETICALY THERE ARE A FEW ISSUES BUT IT WILL NOT LEAVE YOU STRANDED AND STILL HAS PLENTY OF LIFE LEFT. THE ECONOMY ON THE CAR IS ALSO ACCEPTABLE AS IS GETS A COMBINED 28MPG CITY/HIGHWAY. I AM WILLING TO TAKE A RATHER LARGE HIT ON THE PRICE SINCE I DIDNT ACTUALLY COMPLETE THE PROJECT AND SIMPLY STARTING THE BIDDING EARNS YOU THE RIGHT TO OWN THE CAR. THIS IS A NO RESERVE AUCTION. |

2013 Lexus LS460 F-Sport AWD
Mon, 22 Apr 2013Gary Approved
There's a guy that goes to my gym who can't get enough of the Lexus LS - let's call him Gary. Gary's the guy - you've probably got one at your gym, or coffee shop, or some other public but quasi-social location - who talks to everyone he meets. Sit next to him on the rowing machine or run by him on the track, and he's almost certainly going to bend your ear for a minute or 20. Gary is in his mid-60s, a business owner, and the super-proud owner of a 2013 Lexus LS.
Not being a shy man, Gary will be the first one to tell you that he didn't do much comparative shopping (he "drove by" the BMW dealership, and looked at a 7 Series "on the computer"). Being a satisfied former owner of multiple Lexus RXs, there was probably only a tiny statistical chance that Gary wouldn't end up in an LS when it came time for him to treat himself to the tricked out luxury car that he'd wanted for a long time. Still, when I found myself chatting with Gary about his new LS, right after I had spent a wintry week in the 2013 LS460 F-Sport AWD, I figured that he'd have some light to shed on the car.
10 automakers sued over keyless ignitions
Thu, Aug 27 2015Keyless ignition has rapidly proliferated throughout the auto industry to become a fairly normal feature on new cars. It's supposed to offer the convenience of keeping the fob in your pocket and just pressing a button to drive away. However, ten major automakers are now being sued in US District Court over claims that the system is dangerous, Reuters reports. The suit alleges that people are forgetting to shut off the engine, and the lack of an idle timer is the cause for 13 deaths by carbon monoxide poisoning and multiple injuries. The suit currently includes 28 plaintiffs, according to Reuters, but the lawyers are asking for class-action status to potentially add many more. The case goes after a major swath of the industry, including BMW, Daimler, FCA, Ford, General Motors, Honda, Hyundai, Nissan, Toyota, and Volkswagen, plus their related brands like Acura, Infiniti, Mini, and Lexus. In all, over five million vehicles are affected. The assertion here is that people walk away from their vehicle without shutting it off because they believe the engine shuts off automatically. If parked in a garage, carbon monoxide can build up, leading to poisoning. The lawyers claim automakers know this is a problem and also cite 27 complaints to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration about the issue, according to Reuters. The plaintiffs are asking for an automatic shut-off and damages from the companies. These concerns have come up before, though. Toyota previously faced a lawsuit over a carbon monoxide death after a woman accidentally left her Lexus running. Also earlier this year, GM recalled 64,186 examples of the 2011-2013 Chevrolet Volt because owners weren't shutting them off. The problem resulted in two injuries, and the company released a software update to limit the idling time.
2014 Lexus GX 460
Fri, 20 Dec 2013The Toyota 4Runner has always held a special place in my heart for its boxy styling and off-road prowess, but until now, I never had the chance to drive its more luxurious cousin, the Lexus GX 460. Granted, the GX actually has more in common with the foreign-market Land Cruiser Prado, but all three SUVs ride on the same body-on-frame platform.
Originally an answer to the luxury SUV craze from the early 2000s, the GX hasn't changed all that much since its introduction more than a decade ago. It's a big SUV with plenty of space and crammed with just about all the luxuriousness Lexus could fit into a 12-year-old vehicle, but, more importantly, it still has the chops to go places many vehicles in its segment wouldn't dare venture. And just for good measure, Lexus tacked on its new signature spindle grille in what has to be its most pronounced appearance yet.
I've had a chance to drive most of the latest Lexus products (including the IS, ES and GS) to see just how competitive Toyota's luxury arm has gotten in recent years, but after spending a week with the 2014 GX 460, it's refreshing that, for now, Lexus has resisted the urge to follow some of its rivals in replacing rugged, body-on-frame SUVs with softer, car-based crossovers.
