2001 Lexus Gs300 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Fresno, California, United States
Thank you for viewing this 2001 Lexus GS300. This car drives like a dream. With newer low profile tires, it still turns heads 13 years later. I am the second owner of this car and I have had it since 2005. I have had no problems with the car in 9 years. It is mechanically sound and drives like a dream. The car is being sold as is but is guaranteed to not be dead on arrival. I encourage you to ask all questions regarding the vehicle before bidding. Also, car is being sold locally, therefore I retain the right to end the auction early. That said, if you buy it now at $7,000. You will be the guaranteed winner of the vehicle and all sells locally will cease.Power and Performance3.0L I-6 220 HP engine (est. when new). 5-spd tip auto transmission w/OD 80 amp alternator Axle Ratio 3.92 axle ratio Fuel Tank 19.8 gal. fuel tank Dual stainless steel exhaust with polished tailpipe finish Fuel EconomyFuel Economy City 18.0 mpg city fuel economy Fuel Economy Hwy 24.0 mpg hwy fuel economy (when new) Handling and ControlRear-wheel drive ABS & driveline traction control Stability control Front double wishbone suspension Front anti-roll bar Coil front springs Gas-pressurized front shocks Double wishbone rear suspension Rear anti-roll bar Coil rear springs Gas-pressurized rear shocks Rack & pinion steering 4 wheel disc brakes Front vented disc brakes Design and DimensionsBody-colored with chrome insert front and rear bumpers Chrome bodyside insert Body-colored bodyside cladding Chrome grille Clearcoat monotone paint Maximum Cargo Volume 14.8 cu.ft. maximum cargo volume Exterior Length 189.2 " exterior length Exterior Width 70.9 " exterior body width Exterior Height 55.9 " exterior height Wheelbase 110 " wheelbase Front Tread 60 " front tread Rear Tread 59 " rear tread Turning Radius 18.5 ' turning radius Gross Vehicle Weight Rating 4,635 lbs. Toyota, Lexus expanding Takata airbag recall, re-notifying customers
Mon, 20 Oct 2014Toyota is re-notifying owners and expanding its Takata airbag inflator recall for some regions. The renewed campaign covers 247,000 examples of the Toyota Corolla, Matrix, Sequoia, Tundra and Lexus SC430 that are located in southern Florida, along the Gulf Coast, Puerto Rico, Hawaii, the US Virgin Islands, Guam, Saipan and American Samoa. All of the models come from the 2001-2004 model years and have potentially faulty Takata-made inflators on the front passenger side. According to the company, testing shows the problem warrants "immediate action," and its press release says, "this action intensifies Toyota's efforts to reach customers and remedy previously recalled vehicles, and a small number of newly included vehicles."
According to Toyota, it submitted some recalled inflators to Takata for testing, and it found a high probability of rupturing in high humidity areas. The automaker said it had no reports yet of injuries or fatalities related to the problem.
This is Toyota's third inflator recall this year. In June, it called in for repair the same vehicles from the 2003-2005 model years in high-humidity areas, and it conducted a separate campaign nationwide for the parts in additional models. In April 2013, it also announced a fix campaign for 1.73-million vehicles worldwide for the same issue.
Vice chronicles Okinawa's illegal street racing scene
Mon, 10 Mar 2014We all know that street racing is dangerous, and that motorsports are best left on the track or drag strip. However, that doesn't mean that there still isn't some outlaw allure among enthusiasts of racing on public roads. In this video, Vice Japan profiles Eikichi Nagayoshi of Japan's island of Okinawa. He is a used car dealer by day and an illegal racer by night.
Nagayoshi has a deep love for his highly customized Toyota Aristo (better known to us as a first-generation Lexus GS) that he claims produces over 1,000 horsepower and has hit 205 miles per hour. He races his car both on drag strips and in drifting competitions, but says that he often has to ship the car to mainland Japan to compete. In the absence of those opportunities, he sometimes gathers friends and takes the racing to the public roads. While we're not down with street racing, this Vice video is an intriguing personality piece, as well as a look into Japan's fabled underground racing scene. Scroll down to check out the video, but make sure you have the "CC" button clicked, because several portions are subtitled.
2014 Lexus IS brings boldest design yet to entry-level luxury
Tue, 15 Jan 2013Lexus is evidently dead serious about removing some of the starch from its collar, as evidenced by the boldly styled new IS sedan just unveiled here at the Detroit Auto Show. We didn't know what to make of Lexus' entry-level sport sedan when we first saw images of it earlier this week. Dominated by the gaping maw of a spindle grille and flanked by headlamps with Nike swoosh daytime running lamps, the photos showed a distinctive (if not completely cohesive) design. Having now seen the design in the metal, we have to admit it comes together better than it does on screen.
The new model will feature both rear- and all-wheel drive models in both 2.5-liter V6 (IS250) and 3.5-liter V6 (IS350) trims. Lexus also showed an IS300h hybrid model at the reveal, but it is earmarked for Lexus' home market of Japan, along with Europe and other markets. No word yet on why the model probably won't be sold here in North America, but our AutoblogGreen compatriots are looking into it.
Aside from its bold new look front and rear, the IS carries forward a lot of the ideas seen in other newer Lexus models, namely the GS. Hidden beneath the IS' sheetmetal is the multilink rear suspension from the GS, along with its electric power steering setup. The new IS rides atop a three-inch longer wheelbase for better rear seat room, but during our brief time sitting in the car at the press conference melee, it still didn't feel terribly roomy (it rarely does in this class). At least the seatbacks fold 60/40 for the first time for additional utility.
