1997 Lexus Es300 Base Sedan 4-door 3.0l on 2040-cars
Arlington, Virginia, United States
1997 Lexus ES 300 Luxury Sedan, V6, 148k miles.
This is our personal vehicle that was primarily driven by my wife as her daily commute vehicle. The car has 148k miles on it (all actual), and can be inspected by prior appointment. I can be reached at (571) 399-5510 for any questions. It has served us well, and and am sad to see it go. It is a good car, and has very minor issues that are easy fixes, and will continue to serve the new owner well. I don't have the time or patience at present to get the issues fixed, thus selling it AS-IS. The car has had regular tune-ups, had its timing belt changed, brakes changed - basically, we have been particular in maintaining the vehicle and it shows. Some of its known issues are: 1. Loose strut or bushing on front passenger side, which makes a knock noise at times (when car goes over a bump). 2. Front Passenger side window switch is faulty on door, but operate-able from drivers door master window switch. Needs switch changed out only. 3. Check engine light does come on sometimes - had it checked, and it is most likely the front catalytic converter. Light if off at present. 4. Front passenger side turn signal gets loose at times (broken tab). I have been too lazy to fix it or switch out the turn signal. It works fine as-is. 5. Crack on rear drivers side turn signal. It is a cosmetic issue, and turn signal functions perfectly. 6. Side scratches on passenger side (car got side swiped against parking garage pillar) - cosmetic issue, which needs scratch paint touch up. Doors function perfectly. 7. Scratches and paint peeled off on rear bumper and side mirrors. I had touched them up with touch-up paint. Cosmetic issue, as no functionality is affected. 8. The Carfax/AutoCheck shows an odometer discrepancy, which is incorrect. It was a clerical error when the car was registered and I never went back and had the mileage corrected (I had guessed the mileage when registering the car, as the vehicle was in a different state, and I was in a rush to get the vehicle registered). 9. Windscreen has a small crack at the base of the drivers side (see photo). This does not impact the view and the car legally passed inspection in this state every year. In addition, there are 2 small starts which were minor chips that were fixed. They dont impact vision either, and I am only sharing for full disclosure purposes. 10. Minor rust around windscreen (top and drivers side edge). I have tried to fix this, but did a sloppy job. Does not impact functionality. I will give a 15 day warranty on the engine and transmission to put to rest any concerns the buyer may have. I trust this car to drive well and provide many years of great service to its new owner. Please remember that this is a 10+ year old car, and has been driven daily in the city, thus will have scratches and minor issues, but runs beautifully. We have performed regular oil changes, and other servicing. I had all its service records, but put them in some box when we moved, and I cant find them. You are welcome to have the car checked out. Over 80 photos are posted here: link Additionally, I can email the CarFax report to you if you want (it should be available for free on this listing also), but email me if you still want it. Some basic rules for this eBay sale: 1. If you have less than a rating of 10, I WILL delete your bid, unless you have contacted me beforehand and confirmed your contact info and intent to bid on this car. I've been around eBay many years to have experienced the frustrations of non-serious buyers. 2. This is a used car and I have posted more than 80 photos of the car, and have done my best to share all the facts. If you are going to be a super nit-picky buyer, please go to the local Lexus dealership and buy a pre-owned certified vehicle or a new vehicle; your hard earned $$$ will be well spent there. I honestly don't have the time to deal with buyers who are too afraid to buy a good deal on eBay or locally, and I don't have the time or the patience for someone to waste my and your own time. 3. You are welcome to look at the car in person in Arlington VA. I travel extensively for work, and thus you will NEED to work around my schedule, and not the other way around. I will return all calls within a 12 hour window, but don't expect me to answer on the first ring. 4. You are welcome to have the car inspected by a person of your choice at my location. I will entertain it being driven within a 3 mile radius, but no farther, as I don't have the time to baby sit every prospective buyer. The car is listed for sale locally, and I have the right to sell it before this auction ends. Feel free to make an offer on eBay also. 5. Good luck on your vehicle search and purchase! |

Anti-EV, pro-hybrid ad from Lexus gets a whole lot wrong
Fri, May 9 2014Tell us if you're surprised that Toyota (through its Lexus brand) is putting out some questionable information about electric vehicles. While it's one thing for company executives to be anti-EV, it's quite another to put out obviously false information when you speak ill of plug-in vehicles, especially when you also sell them. The automaker offers the RAV4 EV and Prius Plug-In, albeit in limited numbers, First, let's look at what Lexus is saying. On the company's consumer site, in the hybrid section, there are a number of slick videos. In one ("Hybrid Overview"), Lexus makes it look like charging an EV takes four hours. That may be true in some situations, but the video shows an anonymous driver plugging a Nissan Leaf into something that looks like a AeroVironment DC fast charger, which takes around a half hour to charge. Granted, the site has a disclaimer that says, the "charge time represents the average time to charge from empty to full using typically available 240V commercial charging stations," but in everyday use, that's not something EV drivers often do. Charged EVs mentions two previous studies that show how most EV charging is done at home. Lexus knows all this, of course, but doesn't mention it. Lexus says that there are 20 states with an "established infrastructure" for hydrogen. Another video on the site, one that talks about future alternative powertrain technologies, says that there are 20 states with an "established infrastructure" for hydrogen and 37 with the same for electric vehicles. It also blatantly says that we need to consider all of the emissions from the fossil fuels used to make electricity (carbon monoxide, sulfur dioxide, etc.) but does not say anything about the fossil fuel emissions used to make hydrogen. You can see some screen grabs in the gallery or watch the video yourself. It's all blatantly one-sided, especially since the official numbers from the Department Of Energy say that there are Level 2 public EV chargers in literally every state except Alaska and only 11 public hydrogen stations in the US. Ten of them are in California, the other is in South Carolina. A Lexus spokesman told AutoblogGreen it will ask TeamOne, its ad agency, and the Lexus marketing department for clarification on where the data in the videos comes from. We will update this post when we hear back.
Lexus promises to unveil two updated models at Pebble Beach
Tue, Aug 11 2015Lexus has announced it will stage the global debuts of two updated models at Pebble Beach later this week. But it isn't saying which models they will be. However we can take an educated guess or two. Two of the oldest nameplates in the Lexus lineup at present are its flagship models: namely, the LS sedan and the LX sport-ute. The original LS was first introduced back in 1989, with the current fourth-generation model rolled out in 2006. (That's the Pebble Beach edition of the 2009 LS 600h pictured above.) It's undergone incremental updates in the decade since, with the last one having arrived in 2012. With much newer examples of the Mercedes S-Class and BMW 7 Series having recently been launched, Toyota will likely want to keep its flagship sedan up to date and competitive with newer rivals. Meanwhile the LX first launched in 1995 as a rebadged and luxed-up version of the Toyota Land Cruiser. The current third-generation model arrived in 2007, and was updated in 2012 alongside the aforementioned LS sedan. Sales of the LX have been floundering, spurring Lexus to potentially launch an entirely different flagship crossover to take its place. But before that happens, it is expected to launch another facelift for the existing model. Photos of that updated version have already leaked out and begun circulating, so we wouldn't be surprised to see the new LX 570 debut in Monterey as well. Both are expected to adopt more aggressive styling in line with other, newer models in the lineup, along with the latest technologies Toyota has to offer. Whatever form they take, we won't have to wait long to find out what Lexus has in store for us. The unveiling of both its freshly updated new models is set to take place on Thursday, so watch this space. These are the top luxury cars bought by people entering the segment for the first time
Fri, 25 Jul 2014Let's say you just got a big promotion at work or the kids are moving out of the house, and you finally have some extra money. You decide to blow it all at once and treat yourself by upgrading your ride. Naturally, you look to a luxury automaker. What do you choose?
Models like the Audi A3 and Mercedes-Benz CLA-Class may be tailor-made to introduce buyers to the premium segment, but a new study finds that they don't garner the highest rates of non-luxury customer conquests. It turns out that a Volvo leads among folks moving up to a premium brand, and it isn't even one that's made anymore, at that.
A recent study by Polk and IHS Automotive looked at what models had the highest rates of buyers upgrading from a non-luxury segment. The information comes from its new vehicle registration data through April 2014. All ten top models boasted conquest rates of over 50 percent, but the Volvo C70 led the field with 68.01 percent of its customers coming from non-premium brands.
