You are bidding on a 2008 Range Rover with a great body that was flooded and is not in running order.  The vehicle has a very clean body and interior, and many new modules and parts.  It’s white with beige leather.  Odometer shows 43,700 miles.  The truck was manufactured in June 2008, so it’s a very late 2008 - almost a 2009. VIN is SALME15418A293331

** THIS IS NOT A RUNNING VEHICLE.  IT IS OFFERED AS IS WITH WATER DAMAGE **

From what I can see the body on this truck is in great shape.  It looks all original to me and it’s free of damage with the exception of some minor bumper chips.  The car has good wheels and tires.  It’s all stock.

The interior is nice and clean though there is some corrosion visible under seats and in corners.  There is no significant wear or damage to any of the seating surfaces.

Someone bought this car and tried to fix it before being overwhelmed by the job.  They purchased a new engine control unit ($2,000), a new body control unit ($2,000) and a new immobilizer.   The car was also fitted with a new instrument cluster from another vehicle.  All those parts function but are now coded with a different VIN which would have to be cleared before they could be used in a vehicle.  Windows, door locks, and all the hood latches, stuff like that work.  The vehicle can be locked up with the key and the windows are closed, so it's secure and watertight if parked outside.  All the body sheet metal looks really good - doors don't have any damage.  Fenders, quarters, etc all good.  Windshield even looks new.  Complex electronics is mostly inoperative.  The car was flooded to at least dash top level.

The seller purchased 8 more used modules (radio, transfer case, and other systems) which may or may not be usable in another 2006-2009 Range Rover.  These are included with the vehicle, along with most of the original modules that were swapped out.  We do not have the original flooded ECU or the original instrument cluster.  The cluster in the car seems to work but I do not know of a way to recode miles and VIN for use in another vehicle.

This would be a great truck for someone who has a rolled or heavily crashed Range Rover.  It’s got most of what you need to put a rig like that back on the road.  If you have an early L3222 Range Rover I think the front and rear of this vehicle could be used to update a 2003-5 truck but you should check an interchange guide for specifics.  I offer the car as it, as water damaged salvage.

If you are a body man you know the value of the parts on this truck. Flooding can ruin mechanicals and electrics but the body, sheet metal, plastic, and all the sealed systems tend to be unaffected.  On a vehicle like this, that adds up to a lot. A good nose or tail is close to ten grand for these cars, and when you add an interior, radiator, AC condenser, wheels, and whatever else you can use the truck is a bargain for someone like that.  All the plastic trim is complete and undamaged. The seats look near-new and they have the fancier contrast piping.

According to Land Rover this car was last serviced in August 2012 at 43,000 miles. That's the last recorded mileage and the last time it was known to be on the road.  It was sold to our client – with water damage – in the fall of 2013.

The car is available for inspection at our Springfield offices, Monday-Friday from 8-5.  Robison Service is one of the leading independent Land Rover specialists in the eastern United States.  Read more about us online through our RobisonService website or blog.  We are an authorized Bosch Car Service center specializing in Land Rover.

This vehicle rolls, but does not start or run.  It will have to be towed out of here.  You can shift it into park to secure it on a trailer.  If you want to inspect the car, please do so BEFORE bidding.  If you have questions call John Robison at 413-785-1665 or email through the ebay system.

We are a Massachusetts licensed motor vehicle dealer and repair facility.  Buyer will owe 6.25% MA sales tax, and there is a $129 title and document processing fee.  Please note that you will owe MA sales tax even if you ship the truck out of state because it's sold off our lot here, and must be picked up in person.  It's not a mail-order item. The only exception to this sales tax rule is for licensed dealers who present a valid, current dealer license and state issued tax certificate.  These fees are in addition to the bid price for the car.  We are not selling subject to financing.  Please make sure you have funds lined up before you bid.

Editors' Picks, May 2023: Some Subarus and a pair of luxury SUVs

Thu, Jun 1 2023

The month of May saw a number of new vehicles jump into the pool of Editors' Picks. Subaru grabbed a pair with its brand-new generation of Crosstrek for 2024, and the Legacy earns one in the ever-shrinking midsize sedan segment. In the luxury space, we have one entry from Britain and one from here at home. The new Range Rover already got an Editors' Pick, but now the Range Rover Sport joins the ranks. The Corsair earned Editors' Pick status before its update, too, but now the refreshed version rejoins the ranks. In case you missed our previous Editors' Picks posts, here’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary in their respective segments get an EditorsÂ’ Pick designation. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in May that earned an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2023 Subaru Legacy 2023 Subaru Legacy View 15 Photos Quick take: The Legacy brings all-wheel drive with sedan dynamics to a shrinking segment, and it does so with a competitive price, respectable tech and tons of utility. Score: 7.5 What it competes with: Honda Accord, Nissan Altima, Toyota Camry, Hyundai Sonata, Kia K5 Pros: All-wheel drive in every trim, spunky turbo engine, tons of space in the rear and trunk Cons: CVT makes for a dull drive, infotainment is clunky, styling is on the bland side From the editors: Associate Editor Byron Hurd — "Not everybody has abandoned sedans. Not only is Subaru keeping some of its eggs in this four-door basket, but it's dyeing them in some festive shades. The new turbocharged and tightened Sport model makes a great case for itself as a grown-up WRX without all the GT-themed nonsense. Shame about the CVT." In-depth analysis: 2023 Subaru Legacy gets Sport trim, more tech, fresh design   2023 Range Rover Sport Quick take: It may not be outwardly sporty, but the Range Rover Sport has a killer design, gorgeous interior, buttery-smooth driving characteristics and a clean tech interface.

Could Jaguar become an EV-only brand?

Fri, Oct 12 2018

Just yesterday we wrote about the Heisenbergian uncertainty surrounding the future of the Jaguar F-Type. A new report in Autocar prompts us to consider extending that ambiguity to the entire Jaguar brand. The UK magazine reports the automaker's product planners have devised a ten-year plan to switch to a pure EV lineup of cars and crossovers. According to Autocar's sources this is a planning exercise and doesn't have the green light, but it's "fairly advanced" and has adherents inside the company. The first shot fired would be an all-electric XJ replacement. That sedan, a "no-holds-barred luxury car" to challenge the Tesla Model S and Porsche Taycan, would provide emissions-free motoring before the Mercedes-Benz S-Class and BMW 7 Series come with their EV propositions. Around 2023, an EV crossover a touch larger than the full-sized Audi E-tron would replace both the XF and XE sedans. Two years later, a new mid-sized I-Pace would debut as both the F-Pace and E-Pace fade out. And two years after that, around 2027, the J-Pace luxury crossover would sigh its last ICE gasp. And what about the F-Type? The report says "with no replacement for F-Type in the works," an electric sports car "is also a possibility." There's no mention of the XK revival. Right now, Jaguar sells seven models - four sedans and three crossovers. As the Autocar article's written, come 2027 Jaguar would have an electric XJ sedan, a full-sized EV crossover, the I-Pace, and perhaps an electric sports car. That's a brave new world - one we're not sure Jaguar dealers could survive in. Problem is that Jaguar and its dealers are having plenty of problems now. Chinese-market volatility, the cloud around diesels, and Brexit uncertainty have contributed to a sales slump so dire that Jaguar's Castle Bromwich plant is going to a three-day week for the rest of the year. The sales flu has spread to Land Rover, too, the brand's Solihull plant closing for two weeks to realign dealer inventory. Considering all that, and with no easy relief in sight, the product planners are apparently debating whether a new, traditional three-model sedan range is worth the investment. The upside of going all-electric is said to be higher sales, with internal estimates supposing 300,000 units annually. Last year Jaguar sold 178,500 units. The marque could rake in larger profit margins on those sales, too, thanks to premium buyers being ready to shell out big ducats for EVs.
