2003 Land Rover Discovery Se Sport Utility 4-door 4.6l on 2040-cars
Marshfield, Massachusetts, United States
Hello Bidders. I am selling my personal Land Rover Discovery 2. I have owned this car 7 years and it is my daily driver. I am the second owner. I bought the car in Connecticut when I lived there from the original owner. I purchased the car with about 73,000 mi on it and it now has 145,000mi. It has served me well, but now my needs have changed, my kids are out of the house, and I am down sizing. I have been religious about oil changes and maintenance. The car is very dependable. Anyway here is the good and the bad. Good: I had the engine "resealed" by the Norwell Land Rover Dealer at a cost of about $7000 at 113,000mi. This entailed taking the heads off, shaving them and installing new head gaskets, and replacing all associated gaskets on the top of the engine. During the last few years the dealer has also changed the throtle body to the new improved " no leak" unit and they have also replaced the leakey power steering unit and hoses. Cost about $3000. These are 3 common problems with the car, they are all fixed. The Rover is in great shape as you can see by the pictures. The leather seats have no tears in them. The body has no rust. The dash has no crackes. The CD player and tape player works well. The A/C blows cold. The heated windshield is awesome. As you can see in the pictures I had an altercation with a snow bank which left a small dent in the front fender and cracked the front right bumper cover. The car has great pick up and the German ZF transmission works like it is brand new. I do not think it shifted any better when it was new. It is the same unit in many bigger BMWs. The 4 wheel drive is flawless as is the low gear 4 wheel drive. I have only used the low gear a couple of times. I have also replaced 4 rotors and all brake pads a few years ago, recent inspection shows 50% left on the brake pads. The tires are all good Firestone all weather tires. All hoses, serpentine belt, and the thermostat, and the water pump were replaced within the last 2 years. I have all the records of this work and the Norwell Land Rover Dealer records as well as some Connecticut records from the previous owner. This Discovery has passed the tail pipe emissions of Connectidut inspection, and has passed Massechusets inspection in January 2014. It has always passed inspection and I have all the records. The Bad: The 3 amigos, as they are called on the internet, have reared thier ugly head. They are the traction control, abs and down hill desent, and brake light. So the Webco ABS unit has to be replaced or rebuilt. The parts can run anywhere from $100 to $500 depending how you want to do it. Having said that I drive the car every day and the brakes work fine, there is just no ABS. These lights just went on last month and I do not want to deal with it. I have driven the car from Boston to NY twice as well as to Maine since the ABS stopped working. There is no brake fluid leak, and it stops straight. I can assist with any method of shipping at your cost. You are free to inspect the vehicle as you wish. It is sold as is. Please no scams. There will be no second chance offers, that is a scam. I do reserve the right to sell it locally. Thanks, and good luck bidding. |

Jaguar Land Rover opening its first U.S.-based classic center in Georgia
Sun, Aug 19 2018Jaguar Land Rover Classic currently operates two of its Works Centres, one in Coventry, England and the other in Essen-Kettwig, Germany (pictured). Just in time for Pebble Beach, the English carmaker has announced that it will bring its first facility to the United States next year, having signed a deal to open the latest Works operation in Savannah, Georgia. To be located in the Crossroads Business Park near Gulfstream Aerospace, the facility will engage in the sales, service, and restoration of Jaguar and Land Rover vehicles out of production for at least ten years. The 150,000-square-foot Coventry site opened two years ago and is said to be the largest dedicated factory workshop of its kind (the largest unaffiliated shop is in the Philippines). Jaguar builds its continuation cars there, like the D-Type and XKSS, while Land Rover uses it to build the Defender Works V8. Shoppers can also buy vintage models off the showroom floor, a variation of the Certified Pre-Owned program called Works Legends, that come with a 12-month warranty. Or, Jaguar Land Rover will locate, restore, and maintain one of the classic company products that a buyer chooses. In the UK, a Land Rover Series 1 starts at around $90,000, a Jaguar E-Type starts at around $400,000. The 48,000 Essen-Kettwig center opened last year with the same brief, and the U.S. center can provide those services to the world's largest classic car market. Construction on the 75,000-square-foot complex is scheduled to begin next August, and the facility will include a 42-bay workshop and showroom. The automaker will invest from $10 to $15 million, and predicts more than $45 million in revenue. Savannah Economic Development Authority President and CEO Trip Tollison told The Savannah Morning News that JLR will hire 75 workers at a starting salary of $80,000. Jaguar Land Rover data leak reveals employee records, upcoming layoffs
Fri, May 25 2018A massive data leak has revealed the personnel files of hundreds of employees at Jaguar Land Rover's factory in Solihull, England. The documents reveal details such as sick days used, disciplinary issues and — most notably — red lines indicating potential firings in the weeks or months ahead. In total, the personal records of more than 600 workers were released. JLR is scrambling to contain the crisis. The breach was first reported by the Huffington Post UK, with the automaker initially claiming the story was "fake news." That publicity gaff certainly didn't help matters, especially for employees staring at their name with a red line slashed across it. Last month, the British automaker had said it would be eliminating roughly 1,000 employees at factories in the U.K. The Solihull plant, which produces models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace and Jaguar XE, was among those mentioned in the statement. JLR, which is owned by the Indian conglomerate Tata Motors, is facing a steep drop in sales, particularly in its home market. The main culprits include a huge slump in sales of diesel-powered vehicles - a vital part of JLR's business in the U.K. and throughout Europe - along with fears about how the upcoming "Brexit" will affect business operations. In the HuffPost UK story, one worker called the situation "disgusting" and "embarrassing," adding that people at the factory now know whether they, or their colleagues, are soon due to lose their job. Is Jaguar's 3 Series-fighter the brand's last chance?
Wed, 16 Oct 2013The upcoming line of compact 3 Series-fighters from Jaguar, often referred to as the Jaguar XS, could consist of a sedan, wagon and possibly a coupe and GT model (think BMW 5 Series GT). The car's all-aluminum architecture also will provide the basis for two new sports utility vehicles. Just how important is the much-touted "baby Jag" project to parent company Jaguar Land Rover? A JLR executive reportedly says the brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS, codenamed X760, Autocar reports.
The brand's survival is directly linked to the success of the XS.
"If the X760 fails, it will probably be the end for the [Jaguar] brand," the executive says. But Adrian Hallmark, Jaguar's global brand director, claims Jaguar will "build the most advanced, most efficient, most refined car in that [compact luxury sedan] segment. Not almost as good as, but better than the best in the world."
