Today I am making the hard decision of selling my Off-road ready Land Rover Discovery. I bought this car in late January of 2013.  It had roughly 189,400 miles on it, and was in need of some TLC.  The man I bought it from had bought it as a novelty item and did not understand what a great car he had on his hands. Due to financial troubles he was forced to sell, and bought it from him days after.  As you can see I have been very busy with the Discovery, repairing and replacing item throughout.  My plan with this car was to take it from the "diamond in the rough" condition and bring it back to par with 2013.  I can tell you mechanically this vehicle is solid, the engine was just overhauled and given a clean bill of health.  All the lights and accessories work flawlessly. The transmission was also looked over and found to be perfectly fine. The tires and brakes are also in good condition with plenty of miles left on them.  By the lengthy repairs you can tell, I am not one to skimp out and am a perfectionist.  When I hear something or see something odd it gets dealt with that very same week.

This car has been a weekend cruiser for me, and sadly due to lack of free time have not had the opportunity to take it off road. During the week it sits parked in a warehouse waiting for the weekend. The vehicle exterior and interior are above average for there age and milage.  Before purchasing this vehicle I looked at several discovery's (both newer and older) and could not find one with as much potential as this one.  The interior does not have any tears in the seats or carpet. The seats havent faded or began sagging, and the leather is plush and soft. The exterior body is straight, with very small dents on the drivers door panel (see photos).  The paint was not professionally done, and does not have a Ferrari finish to it. For a 14 year old off-road SUV spending $2,000 + on a mirror gloss paint job felt like a waste, since off-roading will always scratch glossy paint jobs. The car originally was gold in color with the common Land Rover fading/cracking paint.  I had the old paint sanded down, and sprayed with a coat of bed liner to prevent rust and oxidation. Then it was painted Mineral Grey and clear coated.  Very easy to touch up, making scratches and imperfections an easy repair.

This vehicle has over $10,000 in repair and modification.  While the miles may be higher than to your liking, I can tell you its nothing to alarm you. The car is rock solid, and I wouldn't for a moment hesitate to drive it cross country or across the country.
I am selling this car because a close group of friends and I were going to take a road trip to Cabo San Lucas in it, however there just isn't enough free time to do all this, and I am not planning to go off road anytime soon.  Therefore it needs a home who will take care of it and use it for what it was built for.

Please know: This car is 13 years old with 192k on the odometer.  It is far from a new car, and while it is in outstanding condition, it has its blemishes.  Please see all photos and videos below before purchasing or bidding.
THIS VEHICLE IS BEING SOLD "AS-IS" / ALL SALES ARE FINAL
PAYMENT: $200 NON-REFUNDABLE DEPOSIT IS REQUIRED 48 HOURS AFTER AUCTION CLOSE VIA PAYPAL.
SHIPPING: IF YOU PLAN TO SHIP THE VEHICLE, YOU ARE RESPONSIBLE FOR ACQUIRING TRANSPORT.

Please contact me with questions and concerns before bidding. A bid is a binding contract between the buyer and the seller.  If you plan to bid, you plan on buying. All violators will be reported to eBay.

Current photos are pictured below, however I have HD photos in the photo bucket album link below.  They were taken October 2013, prior to the exhaust, strobe lights, and parking sensor install. That is the only difference between these photos.

New Land Rover Defender aces Euro crash tests

Wed, Dec 9 2020

While the 2020 Land Rover Defender has not yet been crash-test by U.S. safety agencies such as NHTSA or IIHS, we do now have results for Europe's NCAP crash tests and accident-avoidance tests, where the Defender earned the top rating of five stars. The Defender model used for NCAP testing was the 110 variant with right-hand drive. The NCAP regimen includes several different crash tests: an offset front crash test into a moveable barrier with both the vehicle and the barrier traveling at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a front crash test into a full-width fixed barrier at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a side-impact crash test with a barrier traveling at 60 km/hr (37 mph) hitting the driver's door, and a side-impact test where the car strikes a pole at 32 km/hr (20 mph). The Defender's scores for the adult occupant and for a child occupant were both 85%. Additionally, the agency looks at the severity of injuries of the vehicle striking a pedestrian, taking data for a pedestrian's head hitting the hood, and their upper and lower leg being hit by the front of the vehicle. There is also testing of the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system's ability to avoiding hitting a pedestrian and a cyclist under various scenarios. The efficacy of active-safety systems for avoiding collisions with other vehicles is also tested. The Defender's score for protecting pedestrians and cyclists was 71%. The driver assists scored 79%. Results for several European-market cars were released together with those for the Defender, the most noteworthy of which was for the Honda E. The electric city car fared less well than the big Land Rover, garnering a score of four stars overall. In the same battery of test, the Honda E scored 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for a child occupant, 62% for protecting pedestrians and cyclists, and 65% for its driver assists. Kahn and Evanta team up for hot-rod Defender, custom Barchetta

Thu, Jul 10 2014

If you're familiar with the work of Afzal Kahn, it's probably for his tuned Range Rovers. And if you live in London, you may have seen his Bugatti Veyron with the F1 license plate. But the British tuner and self-styled "automotive fashion designer" is now embarking on a far more ambitious project. Kahn is teaming up with Ant Anstead of Evanta fame – responsible for rebodying Aston Martin DB7s to look like DB4 GTs and that full-scale DBR1/2 model kit – on a new outfit called Ant-Kahn. Far more than a tuning endeavor, Ant-Kahm is setting about creating truly unique (and uniquely British) automobiles. Their first project is called the Flying Huntsman, a long-nose Land Rover Defender that we imagine will emerge as something like a British take on the 1998 Jeepster concept crossed with something Icon might concoct. It'll pack a 6.2-liter GM LS3 V8 producing 550 horsepower, mated to a push-button six-speed automatic transmission, mounted close to the bulkhead with over 15 inches of extra bodywork and set to be unveiled within the coming months. Their second collaboration is set to yield the Evanta Barchetta previewed by rendering above. "Inspired by the design language of 1950s motorsport," the Barchetta pays homage to classic British and Italian roadsters. It's being built around a tubular frame with handcrafted composite Kevlar bodywork and powered by that same LS3 tuned to 450 hp but in a much lighter form than the Flying Hunstman. Only 20 examples will be made after its debut at the Goodwood Revival come September. An Aston Martin project codenamed WB12 is also in the works, painting a picture of an ambitious startup backed by two experienced operators whose projects we're looking forward to seeing come to fruition. Ant-Kahn – The birth of a groundbreaking collaboration between two leading figures in the UK automotive industry. Ant-Kahn is a collaborative partnership between Afzal Kahn - innovative automotive fashion designer and founder of the Kahn group of companies, and Ant Anstead, founder of expert vehicle manufacturer Evanta, and star of Channel 4's "For The Love of Cars". Working together under the Ant-Kahn banner, they will lead a resurgence in British specialist vehicle manufacture, with a number of projects already underway. Their focus is on luxury and quality, using modern prototyping and manufacturing technology, while maintaining the attention to details associated with traditional coach building.

Jaguar Land Rover releases a vintage-looking infotainment system for classics

Fri, Sep 7 2018

Jaguar and Land Rover have a new option for owners of its older vehicles: a touchscreen infotainment system. Much like the Porsche classic infotainment head unit released a few years ago, this one tries to blend in with its interior surroundings. Five distinct designs of these "Classic Infotainment Systems" are offered in an effort to have an option that fits well with the interior of any particular car offered by Jag or Land Rover over the past few decades. Chrome and black options are available for Jaguars, while brushed aluminum and black are the choices for Land Rovers. The infotainment system has navigation with 2D or 3D maps and Bluetooth audio. Sure, you don't need to stream Spotify in a 1970s Land Rover, but now you can. Jaguar says it'll offer much higher quality sound with a 4 x 45 watt output from the single DIN head unit, but you might need to upgrade those ancient speakers to actually take advantage of it. There's no mention of satellite radio like Porsche's unit offers, unfortunately. It is a radio though, so we get both AM and FM functionality. Jaguar says it's "compatible with negative earth vehicles" (newer vehicles use negative grounding systems) and retails for $1,796 before taxes in the U.S. You can buy and have it professionally fitted at an "authorized" Jaguar or Land Rover dealer if you'd like as well. It's easy to shake your fist at such a device for classic cars, but this head unit tried hard to be an elegant piece — we're still not sure about slotting it into an old E-Type though... Here are U.S. specific model fitments: Jaguar XJ40; XJS; XJ Series 3 Sedan Land Rover Defender 90, 110; Range Rover Classic (93-96); Discovery 1 (94-98); Freelander (97-04) Related Video: Featured Gallery Jaguar Land Rover Classic Infotainment System News Source: Jaguar Jaguar Land Rover Technology Infotainment
