Classic Chawton White on Bahama Beige:  One of the most beautiful color combos and on a fantastic truck!  If you have been looking for a beautiful, serviced, wonderful driving Discovery, wait no longer!

Background:
Let me begin with a little background. This truck was shipped over here in December of 1997 as some of the of the early 1998 Discovery to come to the US. It was ordered in a BEAUTIFUL color and option package. To begin with, this is a highly sought after LE model. The LE model and this specific truck were optioned and were graced with Land Rover "Deep Dish" (the factory name) wheels, wood accents, partial wood center console and few other wonderful trim pieces. The LE was one of the top of the line trim packages!  This truck was dealer maintained for most of its life!  Recent campaign stickers adorn the underhood area and it was also serviced at the very respected Inland Rovers, who offer top notch service.

The Condition and Service:

This truck has been ENTHUSIASTICALLY and PROFESSIONALLY maintained and serviced and is a high standard for Rover service!

Let's start on the engine and drivetrain:
This engine has LOW MILES (less than 8,000 a year), only 125,000 miles appear on the odometer and the entire truck shows the same care.  There has been A TON of scheduled and preventive maintenance performed to this truck to keep in near brand new condition.  The engine is very healthy and has loads of smooth power!

-HEAD GASKETS
As part of the preventive service schedule, this truck received brand new OEM head gaskets and OEM headbolts.  It was installed by a master Rover tech with several decades of experience.  The truck runs COOL as can be and has never overheated.

-UPPER AND LOWER ENGINE GASKETS
While being serviced, the valve cover gaskets, valley pan gaskets, valve stem seals, upper intake gaskets and crank seal, all resealed among a few other minor seals.  NONE of these were leaking, but were done in order to keep with the same high regard and care.

-LOWER ENGINE
Great shape, no knocks, noises or mechanical issues!!  As with ALL Rovers there is some minor "moisture" at oil pan seals, power steering etc. Its the British car way.  That said the truck leaves no puddles or drips.

-RADIATOR
The radiator was cleaned and rodded in order to keep maximum flow and keep this beauty nice and cool.  The temp needle NEVER moves past 7/8pm even with the AC on and in traffic.

-HOSES
New OEM hoses

-IGNITION
Brand new Champion coppers (the RIGHT plugs) and wires.

-EMERGENCY BRAKE
Recently adjusted and tight, only a couple notches on the handle holds the truck tight

-TRANSMISSION
The trans was just given all new fluid and shifts great!

-DIFFS and DRIVESHAFTS
New gear oil in the diffs and lubricated u-joints

-SWIVEL BALLS
Fresh grease, serviced and shims

-FUEL PUMP
The truck received a brand new fuel pump a couple years ago to replace a weak pump.  Great fuel pressure and runs like a beast!

Lets move to the suspension and brakes:

-BRAKES
New OEM brake pads in the front and rear -loads of pad life!  The truck brakes great.  No ABS lights!

-SHOCKS
Great feeling OEM shocks.  They are soft on bumps and tight in corners.  The trucks handles wonderfully!

-STEERING
The steering is tight and has no excess play as you may find in MANY Discoveries.

Let's continue to the exterior:

-PAINT
The paint is very nice!  It is a 8+/9- out of 10 easily.  There is only minor signs that this truck was ever outside.  There are few minor dings which are very hard to see in pics and in person and there was some minor paint chipping (any inch or so) that was touched up the rear on each side.  There was zero rust at the paint chips and the metal is solid underneath!  Take that east coast Rovers!  Remember this is a 16-17 year old truck, there may be some minor scratches, wear etc, but they are well below any expectation level for Discoveries or cars of this year. I try to explain these the trucks the best I can!  Its hard if not impossible to see in pics and you have to be right up on it to see it in person.  Could almost not mention it just trying to be thorough!!!

-WHEELS
The wheels are in great shape with no major flaws or curbing.  The Deep Dish look fantastic on the truck!

-GLASS
Not to let a pebble defeat this truck, the windshield is great shape!

-TRAILER HITCH
The Disco has a factory trailer hitch and is wired up and ready to tow.

Onto the cabin:

-SEATS
The Bahama Beige seats are fantastic!!!  There is NO cracking, NO tears, NO seams coming apart.  They are incredibly supportive with what feels like zero foam wear. The leather is SO soft.  The rears I'm pretty sure have never been used.  They are so soft and buttery!!

-DOOR PANELS
One of the big things with Discos is the top of the drivers side door panel gets cracked...not this one!  All of the panels are free of dents or major defects.

-CUPHOLDERS
This Disco 1 has 2nd gen Disco 2 cupholders.  They are MUCH better than the D1 style and mount on the center console.  They have a removable insert and fit everything from small to large cups, phones, wallets etc.   These are GREAT addition to any D1!

-HEADLINER
The headliner is in very nice shape, with only minor flaws again, hard to see in pics.

-CARPET
Wonderful shape carpet and full OEM floor mat set.  Floormats have a few minor stains, carpets underneath are great!

-POWER SEATS
All power seat functions work perfect!  Hard to find in a Discovery!

-POWER LOCKS
All doors lock and unlock with central locking function.  The keyless entry unlocks and locks all doors and arms the alarm.  RARE to find a good working system in a Disco!

-POWER WINDOWS
All windows work smooth and quickly!

-SUNROOF
-Front and rear sunroof shades are intact!!! The rarest of the rare for a Disco! Front sunroof works great, rear in normal Rover sunroof fashion can be a bit finicky.

-RADIO/CD CHANGER
OEM radio sounds fantastic!  The factory subwoofer still works great too (another Disco rarity).

-AC/HEAT
AC is ice cold and Heat is earth core hot!

-MIRRORS
Power mirrors work perfectly!

-WOOD
Very nice wood on the console, doors and dash! The finish is great and the stain is smooth

-STEERING WHEEL
The leather is very nice!

-MISCELLANEOUS
The OEM roof rack bars are in their bag under the seats (or on the roof as pictured) and the original jack and ramp are are the hood

The Experience
Driving this Discovery is fantastic. It is Lexus quiet inside, pulls and handles like a sports car and is as comfortable as a Rolls Royce.  Its got all the power it had from the factory and from even a little gas is torquey and responsive. I hope you can tell by my long ad that this truck is a great pre-owned and beautiful Land Rover.  It's tax season, treat yourself to this truck, that you will not have to dump TONS of money into in this NO RESERVE AUCTION!  There is well over $5k in recent scheduled and preventive service alone in this truck so you are ready to go another 100k+++ of care free miles.  Don't buy an unserviced truck for a little less than spend 3 times as much to get it to this level of service!

Feel free to ask me any questions at all.  Residents around the country I am happy to be flexible for your arranged shipper so that you can get your new truck as soon as possible.

My standard disclaimer/mantra for any car regardless of service or price: The truck is sold with no warranty.  You are buying a used car.  Eventually every car will break, if you find one that doesn't please let me know.  I do my ABSOLUTE BEST to offer only cars that are of TOP NOTCH service.  I am not a dealer, just a guy who loves Rovers (among other cars) and hope to pass along my passion and fervor for these trucks.  That said if ever you encounter an issue I do my best to provide advice, direction or even parts if I have them.  Please understand that it is a used car and will have minor signs of use.  That means please do not expect a showroom brand new truck. Please adjust your expectation level to that of a 125,000 mile truck that however is well above average for its year.   This is very low miles for Discoveries of this year, but please just remember that no 125,000 mile truck is perfect cosmetically.  It is though a very clean, very nice truck! Please only bid if you intend to buy.  If you would like to have eBay 3rd party mechanic service check out the truck I more than welcome it. All sales are final, the sky is blue, etc, etc. Sorry to have to give the boring speech.

Please feel free to ask any and all questions!!

Happy Rover-trails!!!!

Land Rover to build Discovery Sport at new Brazilian factory

Fri, Oct 31 2014

Looking forward to getting your mitts on a new Land Rover Discovery Sport? Well you should, because it promises to be a markedly better product than the Freelander/LR2 it replaces. Just don't assume it will necessarily be built in the UK, as just about every Land Rover has in the company's 66-year history. The new Discovery Sport (pictured above in Sao Paulo) will, of course, be built in the UK, at the Halewood plant where the Evoque is made and which has in the past handled the Freelander, the Jaguar X-Type and a variety of Fords. But it will also be assembled for local consumption at JLR's new factory in Changsu, China. And, according to the press release down below, it will also be made for the Latin American market at the new factory being built in Brazil. The new plant is being built in Itatiaia on the outskirts of Rio de Janeiro and will come online in 2016. Once it gets up to speed by the end of 2020, it will have the capacity to build 24,000 vehicles each year, ratcheting its workforce up from 400 when it opens to nearly 1,000 when all's said and done. The Discovery Sport will be one of the products made there for the local market, but it surely won't be the only one. As in China, we expect the Evoque will be built there as well, and we wouldn't be surprised to see the new Jaguar XE join it in the near future, either. Don't expect the Brazilian-made vehicles to be sold in the US, though: those will likely still be imported from the UK... at least, that is, until the facility said to be under consideration for the southern United States opens its doors. JAGUAR LAND ROVER CONFIRMS ITS ALL-NEW DISCOVERY SPORT FOR BRAZIL FACILITY - Jaguar Land Rover confirms Discovery Sport as one of the models to be produced at its new local manufacturing facility in Brazil - R$750m investment in the new facility in Itatiaia in the State of Rio de Janeiro - Annual production capacity of 24,000 units for the Brazilian market only – from 2016 Sao Paulo, Brazil – Jaguar Land Rover confirmed today, at the Sao Paulo International Motor Show, that its breakthrough Land Rover Discovery Sport will be one of the first models to be built at its new R$750m (GBP240m) local manufacturing facility in Itatiaia, Brazil. The new factory, which will see a total investment of R$750m (GBP240m) by the end of 2020, will supplement UK production and have the capacity to build 24,000 vehicles annually for the Brazilian market.

Jaguar tests autonomous vehicle technology with 100-car fleet

Wed, Jul 13 2016

Jaguar Land Rover is exploring how to take autonomous vehicle technology off the paved path. But the company has plans for technology on tarmac, too. The company announced that the Jaguar division will have a fleet of 100 cars testing autonomous technologies on public roads. The testing process will cover a period of four years and begin with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems, along with a stereo camera system and autonomous vehicle software. These systems will work together to provide a variety of features that could make their way into future Jaguars and Land Rovers. The first feature in development is called "Roadwork Assist." The system relies on the stereo camera to create a 3D image the car's software can analyze. The software can identify road cones and other barriers associated with construction sites. The car will then alert the driver about entering the construction zone and provide some steering assistance to keep the car centered in its lane. Tony Harper, Jaguar's head of research, said that this system can reduce stress on the driver, and the technology could eventually be used to allow the car to pilot itself through construction zones. Another of Jaguar's proposed features is "Safe Pullaway," which also relies on cameras and software. The Safe Pullaway feature is designed to prevent close-proximity collisions in traffic jams and even in the garage. To do this, the car watches the area immediately ahead of it for obstacles. If the car detects something nearby while the driver adds throttle or shifts into gear, it will apply the brakes to prevent driving into the object. The final project on Jaguar's plate is its "Over the Horizon Warning" system. This will be one of the first features to rely on Jaguar's vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology. The idea is that connected cars in constant communication will give drivers additional warning of upcoming hazards, such as out-of-sight animals and slowed or stopped cars. In Jaguar's example of a stopped car, the stationary vehicle would send a signal alerting approaching cars of the situation. In turn, the approaching vehicles would trigger audible and visual warnings to drivers about the hidden car. Jaguar says that the system could also be applied to emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicles would broadcast a signal to alert drivers well before the lights and sirens get their attention. This would give emergency vehicles a faster, safer path through traffic.

BMW X6 M said to lap the 'Ring in 8:20

Fri, Jul 17 2015

Bimmer Today reports that the German rag Auto Zeitung ran an Audi RS3 and a BMW X6 M around the Nurburgring together, and the hotted-up sports activity vehicle came in just five seconds behind the white-hot hatch. Driven by 'Ring regular Horst von Saurma, the RS3 ran its lap in 8 minutes, 15 seconds, and the X6 M ran an 8:20. If those times are accurate, that makes the X6 M the second fastest production SUV on the lap-time list according to Wikipedia: ahead of it is the 550-hp Range Rover Sport SVR, which ran a time of 8:14. That time puts BMW's 575-horsepower, 5,200-pound SUV four seconds ahead of the time registered by the last-gen, 555-hp X6 M, and well ahead of the Porsche Cayenne Turbo S that Sport Auto clocked an 8:34 with. It would not, however, match the predictions that X6 M project manager Herbert Bayerl made for it in an interview with Sport Auto earlier this year. Bayerl said "The new BMW X6 M moves at the level of M3," speaking of the E92 BMW M3 that Sport Auto ran around the 'Ring in 8:05. It is, though, two seconds faster than the E46 M3, which lapped in 8:22. Bayerl called out the Range Rover Sport SVR directly, saying, "We have been traveling much faster in testing and have undercut the time of Range Rover several times," and "We don't need any special attachments to go faster." Auto Zeitung's report on the lap is only for subscribers so we'll have to wait for more official news. For the apples-to-apples comparison we'll be looking forward to Sport Auto's hot lap, then we'll know if the Range Rover has anything to fear. Related Video:
