If you've been looking for a clean and reliable Discovery with a complete service profile and distinctive features, this is the one!  I have been preparing this one for over a month and i am proud to offer it to the rovering community.  I believe this will make a GREAT 1st Rover, work truck, trail platform, reliable commuter or family car.  Read on:

SERVICE:

- The heads and head gaskets were serviced by the previous owner at the dealer about a year ago.

- brand new battery

- new master cylinder fitted

- new brakes fitted

- oil just changed

- tranny, transfercase, differential and hub fluids all just changed and serviced

- new fuel pump, oxygent sensors and mass air flow sensor

- new high performance STI spark plug wires, air filter and spark plugs fitted

- does NOT leave oil on the driveway, HOORAY!

- no warning lights of any kind illuminated.

- auto locks and alarm still function!!!

DRIVEABILITY:

This truck has been my commuter for the last month - 75miles R/T in gruelling LA traffic and it drives beautifully.  On the open road, it drives at 90mph like its on rails and the drivetrain is powerful and smooth.  All comfort options such as windows, AC and HEAT all work perfectly.  The clock and radio still light up - which is saying a lot if you know these things!!!

COSMETICS:

I have fitted a set of running boards and the rear lamp guards are intact and unspoiled.  Additionally, I had an EXCELLENT set of "Lightstone" coloured seats and have fitted them for an appearence that is distinctive and truley classy.  I have replaced the headliner and the interior of the truck feels clean, looks clean and smells clean.

Outside of that, this truck has been a pleasure to drive and I know it will last you for many years to come.  The registration is current, it has passed california smog with flying colors and the title is clean and in my name so there will be no paper work surprises.

Overall, i would say this truck is a B+ in the cosmetic department.  It is not a museum piece and you should not expect that.  It is clean, straight and comfterble with its share of dings and wear, etc from a life as a trusty servant!!!

PERSPECTIVE:

This truck has had over $3000 of retail servicing done and you have the opportunity to walk away with a whole lot of car for the money!  That said, as with ANY used car, you must be prepared to service it according to the factory requirements and as needed depending on driving style, conditions, etc.  If you have ANY questions at all, please do not hesitate to ask.  Now's the time and eBay even offers inspection services so the time to answer questions and be satisfied is now.  Purchase of this vehicle means you have been satisfied.  I am selling this as is with no warrantly - but as a fellow land rover owner and enthusiast, I have certain spares available so if, lets say, you get it and a switch goes out, or an alternator dies, etc within a reasonable amount of time, i will send what i have to you at my own expense.  I want you to be HAPPY!!!

I feel like i have represented this truck accuratley to the best of my ability but again, if you have ANY questions, PLEASE ASK!!!

Thanks, happy rovering, and happy bidding!!!!

On Feb-22-13 at 16:41:04 PST, seller added the following information:

to answer a few questions that some have had in common:

- YES - it comes with the land rover bottle jack and handle

- NO - it does not overheat AT ALL

- NO - there are no suspension clunks... actually, i forgot to mention that there are 4 NEW OEM SHOCKS all the way around

- "Lightstone" was a color originally introduced on the 92 Range Rover Classic LSE model... later introduced as a 98 Discovery LSE edition ONLY.  It is like a light cream.

Pivi Pro Jaguar Land Rover Infotainment Review | A massive improvement

Fri, Aug 6 2021

Infotainment systems in Jaguar Land Rover products have irked us for a long while. They’re generally a good step — or several — behind other luxury automakers' infotainment systems in terms of features and looks. But the big problem has always been their functionality. Even right out of the gate, they exhibited an undue amount of lag and general bugginess. Pivi Pro is supposed to change all of that. ItÂ’s JLRÂ’s completely new-from-the-ground-up infotainment system that is quickly spreading across the companyÂ’s range of products. It features a new screen size and layout. Plus, the software itÂ’s running is vastly different from what we saw previously. Our Byron Hurd got a first taste of it with a number of JLR products in a short period of time and found it to be a big improvement. Now, weÂ’ve had a new Land Rover Discovery in the garage for a longer period to fully suss out the system. Will it hold up? Watch the video above for a quick tour, and keep reading for some more detailed thoughts. Before diving in too deep, you should know off the top that Pivi Pro is a massive improvement over JLR infotainment systems of old. There are still some issues, but the new systemÂ’s performance is exponentially better than what itÂ’s replacing. This is partly thanks to it now running off its own backup battery. This allows the whole system to load immediately upon startup, ensuring that you arenÂ’t sitting and waiting for items to populate after you press the start button.  The new 11.4-inch screen this software plays on is splendid to both look at and touch. ItÂ’s a super-high-resolution panel, and it takes to our inputs quickly and without protest. The new UI layout makes things easier and prettier, too. All of your important items are tucked into a panel on the left, making them super easy to find and select. Plus, a sticky “home” button means you can always find your way out of menus when youÂ’re done diving around. We dig the three-panel home screen and its minimalist style, but for those who might favor maximum functionality over a pretty home screen, you can replace this with rows of app icons. For those wanting to use their phones, there is indeed an in-car WiFi data plan available to buy. Plus, JLR newly allows you to connect two devices via Bluetooth instead of just one. Both Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are nicely integrated with this new system.

Land Rover will downsize with a pair of hybridized turbodiesel sixes

Thu, Mar 26 2020

Europe's automotive industry has ground to a halt, but the strict emissions regulations that went into effect in early 2020 are still looming on the horizon. Land Rover is preparing to launch a pair of hybridized turbodiesel six-cylinder engines in a bid to comply with the regulations and avoid paying huge fines, according to a recent report. British magazine Autocar learned Land Rover has applied the mild hybrid technology already offered on the Evoque and the Discovery Sport, its two smallest models, to a 3.0-liter straight-six to obtain 300 horsepower. The company will also release a more powerful version of the six rated at about 350 horses. The former will be available on HSE, HSE Dynamic and Autobiography Dynamic variants of the Range Rover Sport, while the latter will be added to upmarket models like the HST. The full-size Range Rover (pictured) will get them, too. The sixes represent a two-pronged approach to replacing the 4.4-liter turbodiesel V8 available in Europe, among other markets. It delivers 335 horsepower and 546 pound-feet of torque, and it sends the Range Rover from zero to 60 mph in 6.5 seconds while giving it a 7,700-pound towing capacity. These figures are hard to argue against, but it's an older engine that's increasing the company's fleet-wide average emissions output, so it has to go. The mild hybrid system won't power either Range Rover on electricity alone, but it will make them cleaner and more efficient; losing a pair of cylinders will help in both areas, too. Although Land Rover hasn't confirmed plans to ax the V8 or launch a hybridized six, suppliers have started publishing information about the powertrain, so its launch is believed to be around the corner. Time will tell whether it will appear on the current-generation models or their replacements, which are undergoing shakedown testing globally and due out in the coming months. Sister company Jaguar will use the mild hybrid technology, too. The six-cylinder will find its way into the XF and the F-Pace, which are both expected to receive comprehensive updates before the end of 2020. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Jaguar Land Rover proposes seats that scientifically massage your butt, for your health

Thu, Jan 16 2020

Habitually sitting too long can degrade a person's health. Scientific research has proven that dormancy can increase the risk of obesity, diabetes, cardiovascular disease, deep-vein thrombosis, and metabolic syndrome, according to the Harvard Medical School. Although sitting can be avoided in many cases, such as using a standing desk at work, taking a seat is the only option when hopping in the car for a drive. Jaguar Land Rover (JLR) is hoping to address this negative aspect of cars with a new high-tech seat that the company says mimics the act of walking.  JLR calls the concept a shape-shifting, or morphable, seat system, and it is currently in a trial period with Jaguar Land Rover’s Body Interiors Research division. Using actuators built into the seat's foam, the seat will constantly be in motion with micro-adjustments that can be tuned to the needs of different people and body types. JLR believes it has created a system that recreates what is known as pelvic oscillation, a motion that can supposedly trick the brain into thinking the body is walking. In addition to helping to prevent internal health issues, JLR also notes that a sedentary lifestyle can degrade and shorten muscles in the legs, hips, and rear. If these muscles are worked on a regular basis, the chance and risk of injury and back issues could potentially be reduced. The new seats are just one of many car interior technologies JLR has explored. In the past, we've seen tech that tracks brainwaves and heart rates, creates augmented reality, helps prevent motion sickness, and helps stop the spread of germs. They've also taken the time to have an expert demonstrate the perfect seating position. Most of this stuff is experimental for now, but it's possible similar features could eventually trickle down to production cars, in time. See how the seat moves in the video below. Related Video:   Â
