Well I really hate to do this, but I need to sell my 1996 Land Rover Discovery SD7. My work hours have been cut and my commute is up to 55 miles a day due to a recent move. I just can’t justify/afford having three 4x4 vehicles anymore, so this one has to go.

This Disco has been one of the most enjoyable vehicles I’ve ever had. It’s very comfortable and drives extremely smooth! It’s also been one of the most reliable vehicles I’ve ever had; been driving it to work every day with no problems whatsoever. It also does NOT leak! It is a California truck with NO rust anywhere. The truck currently has only 102,000 miles on it. It is an SD model with no sunroofs and no power seats.
I’ve done a lot of preventative maintenance and upgrades to the truck also, mainly because I planned on keeping it for a long time, and the fact that I’m a bit OCD . It runs and drives perfectly! I wouldn’t hesitate driving this truck anywhere.

What has been done:
  • ~87,000 miles: Defender brake upgrade with New calipers, pads, and rotors. New rear pads. New Genuine Fuel Pump. New Water pump with coolant flush.
  • ~89,000 miles: New Sears Diehard Platinum battery ($175.00), New Kingsborne 8mm spark plug wires ($35). New power steering fluid. Change front and rear differential oils to Mobil 1 synthetic gear oil. Added magnetic drain plugs to diffs. Change transfer case oil.
  • ~90,000 miles: New Bilstein shocks ($350), New engine oil cooler lines ($110), Change engine oil -15/40 Rotella. New fuel filter. Rebuilt rear driveshaft with new rotoflex and U-joint. New rear suspension ball joint. Fresh one-shot grease in swivel housings.
  • ~93,500 miles: New Cooper AT3 tires -215/85R-16 ($800) with new Defender steel wheels ($430) and Genuine Steel lug nuts ($60). Change engine oil -15/40 Rotella. New spark plugs. Transmission drain & fill with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.
  • ~94,000 miles: Complete cooling system flush and overhaul; all new radiator and heater hoses, new thermostat, new coolant reservoir and cap, and brass radiator plug. New motor mounts.
  • ~97,000 miles: Change engine oil – 15/40 Rotella
  • ~98,500 miles: New Terrafirma heavy duty steering rods with new tie rod ends ($200). New OEM rear springs ($100). New pan hard bar bushings. 5 tire rotation. Front end alignment. New OEM mud flaps.
  • ~100500 miles: Change engine oil – 15/40 Rotella. Transmission drain & fill with Mobil 1 synthetic ATF.

I’m probably missing a few things in my list, but as you can see I’ve done a lot to the truck. Its ready to go, nothing is needed!

It's a V8 party! Lexus IS 500, Cadillac Escalade and more | Autoblog Podcast #667

Fri, Feb 26 2021

In this week's Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Road Test Editor Zac Palmer. It's all V8s all the time this week, starting with the Land Rover Defender V8 unveiling, Lexus IS 500 F Sport Performance debut and pricing announcement on the Jeep Wrangler 392. Next, they move on to what they've been driving. Spoiler alert: That means more V8 talk. Zac has been driving the Cadillac Escalade with the 6.2-liter V8 and BMW M550i with its 4.4-liter twin-turbo V8. Greg and Zac take a pause from the V8 theme by discussing their shared time in our long-term Acura TLX. From this, they segue into a "Spend My Money" feature about garage lifts to finish the show. Jaguar Land Rover calls in handful of vehicles over suspension bolts

Thu, 24 Apr 2014

With most recalls seemingly affecting mass-market vehicles, it'd be all too easy to assume, consciously or otherwise, that higher-end automobiles never face such issues. But the main reason we don't see the NHTSA recalling more luxury automobiles isn't because of their quality, we'd postulate: it's because of their relative scarcity.
Take Jaguar Land Rover, recalls of whose vehicles we only seem to have cause to report about once a year. So if you're figuring they're about due, here you go. The Indian-owned British auto group has just announced two recalls, both regarding suspension components: one affecting Jaguars and another concerning - you guessed it - Land Rovers.
First up we have a recall for 2013 to 2014 model year Jaguar XJ, XF and XK models - a whopping 297 of them - which have been found to have problematic toe links. Separation of the toe link from the rear sub-frame could result in impaired stability and control over the vehicle's direction, so JLR is calling them in to replace the nuts and washers on the rear toe links.

Jaguar Land Rover moves closer to building Slovakia plant

Tue, Aug 11 2015

Jaguar Land Rover has announced its intention to build a new assembly plant in Slovakia. Though it has yet to make the final decision, the British automaker has signed a Letter of Intent with the Slovakian government. Its next step is to launch a feasibility study before committing. If the company does go ahead with plans, it wouldn't be the first automaker – or even the first European luxury automaker for that matter – to start producing in Slovakia. Nor would it be the first Jaguar Land Rover plant outside the UK, either. The Volkswagen Group, PSA Peugeot Citroen, and Kia all manufacture in the Central European country. VW's Bratislava plant in particular handles production of the Touareg, Audi Q7, and Porsche Cayenne. In the past few years, JLR has expanded its production capacity to new locations outside of the UK. It has a new factory in China, one under construction in Brazil, and has been manufacturing in India – home country of its parent company Tata – since 2011. It recently announced a manufacturing contract with Magna Steyr in Austria, and is investing in its facilities back home as well. Though yet to be finalized, the prospect of manufacturing in Slovakia has proven more favorable to JLR than other locations in Europe or in the United States or Mexico – all possibilities that the company says it looked into. It has yet to reveal just what it would produce there, saying only that "the plant would manufacture a range of aluminium Jaguar Land Rover vehicles," that the plant would be earmarked to come online in 2018 and eventually ramp up production to 300,000 vehicles. The prevailing wisdom would seem to indicate, however, that the site is being considered for the next-generation Land Rover Defender.
