Land Rover Defender Nas D90 on 2040-cars
Shasta, California, United States
1995 Land Rover NAS Defender 90 with A/C Stock CA car, with winch and ARB bumper. Convertible model with three Tops. Fiberglass removable Hard Top, full Soft Top and Bimini Top. A reliable daily driver and great truck. Salvage Title (due to common oil line fire - caught timely). No need for repaint. This truck is solid and should clean-up nicely if properly detailed. Shows typical wear for it's age. The original stock bumper, side steps, and hella lights are not included. The winch handle control with cord is located under seat. New Optima yellow-top battery. - It's time to replace the head gaskets, clutch master cylinder and slave. The clutch master cylinder and slave parts are included. The clutch master cylinder failed and leaked onto the bulkhead and floor panel and removed the paint (see pics). It would be prudent to scrape this spot and repaint promptly. - There is a small hole on underside of passenger door which may have been caused by rust ?(see pic). - The soft top shows wear and small tear or two. - There is a dent on front fender at corner (see pic) and above that a spot where paint is worn (flat area). - Rear seat has a tear on back side. - If you want A/C you will need to install the two hoses and v-belt. - If you want the window wash reservoir, thats included part. - Install bonnet cable if you want it. - I lost the radio code. Radio needs it to work. Has original unit with CD magazine. - Salvage Title. To provide clarity on the small fire damage, I have provided pics of the damage when I received it. The last pic is that of the prior damage - to show the significance. Simple easy fix in my view. Caused by the common oil line fire in engine compartment that appears extinguished timely. I washed-off the soot and simply hand polished the paint. I also reconnected the fan wires that were easy (by color), and replaced the P/S reservoir. Soot under bonnet simply wipes-off and needs to be cleaned. - Sold "as-Is". No Warranty. This offering may be canceled at anytime without prior notice, the vehicle is being marketed locally. Mazda CX-5 named Japan's Car of The Year, Subaru BR-Z wins "Special Award"
Mon, 03 Dec 2012The Mazda CX-5 stamped its Kodo design and SkyActiv technology authority all over the Japan Car of the Year awards, taking the top prize ahead of the Subaru BRZ/Toyota GT 86. It is Mazda's second victory in the last ten years, the 2005 MX-5 claiming the same trophy, and the fourth time the Hiroshima company has won.
The award is decided by 60 local "automotive experts and journalists," and open to any passenger car released in Japan from November 1, 2011 to October 31, 2012 that has sold more than 500 units. Each judge gets 25 votes, his or her top vote getting 10 points, the rest of the points being spread among the judge's choice for the next best four cars.
The second-place getters were the Toyobaru twins with 318 votes, the surprise being they didn't beat or get any closer to the crossover. The Subaru BRZ did claw some mojo back, earning the Special Award given to cars that have made "an exceptional impact." The BMW 3 Series was third overall and won the Import Car of the Year award with plenty of room between it and the second place Range Rover Evoque.
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
