This vehicle has just been restored and prepared for a whole new life. It has been prepared with upgraded , weather resistant features, that far surpass many original ,rust prone, parts. The work was done professionally by us at "British Four Wheel Drive" in Pompano Beach, Florida. We have a very experienced crew that specializes in Land Rover Repair and Restoration. Our shop forman, Norman, is a factory trained master technician, and has over 25 years experience. Our customers think we are the best shop in the southeast. We started with a vehicle with clean title and clean history, that ran and drove very well. Although it had some corrosion that was repairable, we went ahead and did it right by swithcing to a brand new ,galvanized frame. Factory Defender frames do not come with much corrosion prevention and tend to rust from the inside out. I have been to the Land Rover Factory in England and have witnessed new Defender Frames stacked outdoors waiting to be used, and they were already rusting. No kidding. These galvanized frames will last a lifetime. We prepared this vehicle for a life on the beach on Nantucket Island , one of the saltiest , most corrosive places you could find. So, we added stainless steel fuel and brake lines, stainless steel hardware, where appropriate and new galvanized steel front doors. There are way too many items both large and small that are replaced, and reconditioned when doing a restoration like this. We did what was needed , but did not go overboard, in order to keep the costs reasonable. The interior was in good shape , so we left it alone. The engine and transmission were great, so we just serviced them as needed. The a/c blower was a bit noisey so we replaced it with a whole new n.o.s. evaporator/blower unit. The tires and suspension were also good and were retained. The body was in decent shape, but did show some effects from time and the elements. Instead of trying to match 18 year old paint, we decided to do a full, high end paint job. I have used the same , outstanding body shop for the past 22 years, and they have done over 50 Defenders for me. The entire exterior was done, excpet for the roof top. New rustfree hinges with stainless bolts were used. The paint and body are stunning. A personal inspection is welcome and encouraged. Courtesy airport pick up is available. We can also arrange professional, dealer rate shipping, at buyer's cost. Interested bidders can call for details regading the vehicle, etc. @ 954-816-8885.

Jaguar Land Rover is going to call itself 'JLR' and spin off brands
Wed, Apr 19 2023Embracing the current popular philosophy that less is more, the executives at Jaguar Land Rover plan to officially rename their company “JLR” and to create a new “house of brands” that will emphasize name equity and refocus its vehicle offerings. In simple terms, the British-based, India-owned company will split into four separate brands: Range Rover, Discovery, Defender and Jaguar. While this shift may appear to be essentially a function of marketing and dealership bookkeeping, the over-arching reason is to give some of the brands more visibility. Details of the plan, which would reconfigure showrooms in Britain into discrete brand footprints, were discussed this week at a presentation by JLR CEO Adrian Mardell. “The reality is Range Rover is a brand and so is Defender,’” said creative officer Gerry McGovern. “Customers say they own a Range Rover. In luxury, you need absolute clarity. Land Rover Range Rover SV Autobiography doesnÂ’t give it. We love Land Rover, but there isn't as much equity as Range Rover, and Defender is increasing massively.” Underlying the effort is plans to reinvent Jaguar as an electric-only luxury brand, Mardell said that this was “unfinished business” for him since he joined Jaguar 32 years ago. “The Jaguar of 32 years ago is where weÂ’re going back to and the right place for us to be." He further acknowledged that JLR had been “quiet” recently in the face of semiconductor chip shortages, but allowed that that situation was easing at his company.
Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?
Fri, Jul 15 2016The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
Is Land Rover developing an all-electric Tesla Model X rival?
Fri, Oct 31 2014Tesla will soon put its all-electric Model X crossover on sale, and if it's anywhere near as successful as the brand's four-door sedan the Model S, then it'll be a hell of an attention getter for mainstream automakers. Land Rover isn't waiting for proof of the Model X's success, though. According to reports, Land Rover could be preparing an all-electric Range Rover. Likely more crossover than full-size SUV, the new vehicle would probably be far more aerodynamic than current models. But the new EV would still take advantage of LR's high-tech aluminum structure, and could potentially be a close relative of the production Jaguar C-X17, according to Autocar. It seems unlikely that this new Land Rover EV will have the off-road chops of the brand's other models, but that doesn't mean that will be useless on the rough stuff. AC, citing Land Rover design boss Gerry McGovern, claims that a height-adjustable air suspension will allow a low, aerodynamic ride height for high-speed travel while it can easily be transitioned to a higher level for off-road duty. As for range, AC believes (and we agree) that a successful effort would need to get as close as possible to the Model S' 265-mile EV range. Autocar is anticipating a price of around 90,000 pounds, equivalent to $144,000, which roughly matches the cost of a UK-market Model S. If the Range Rover EV comes stateside, we'd wager that prices will start under six figures, much like the US-market Tesla.
