Totally original 1984 Land Rover 90, or defender as later known. Imported into the US around mid part of last year for personal use, but circumstances have changed and I need to sell. Vehicle shows 161K and I would think this be pretty accurate. Doesn't run rich, in fact runs lovely. Choke does need adjustment, probably needs a freshen up of fluids etc. as has been sitting a while now, but started lovely with a little ez-start and ran fine after a few minutes of playing with the accelerator pedal. Motor runs really, really sweet, no top end noises, has had points and condenser, rotor arm / cap recently, no apparent chug of smoke on start up, she runs just fine and whilst wont propel the car to any record breaking speeds, it will get to where you need to go, and probably to most places others wont....Will probably cruise at 65-70 on a highway. The 5 speed transmission works fine, the clutch operates well and the power steering seems to function fine too. Brakes seems to stop well. has discs on the front and drums on the rear. I haven't checked the diff lock, but their pretty much bullet proof, so I don't doubt it works fine. I can have it checked if needed.

Both foot wells have been repaired on both sides, the bulkhead looks very solid otherwise, the drivers side does have a little external corrosion showing to appear, I don't know if these are original or if they have been repaired. there is some hand painted touched up area's under the hood, I don't know if this was some previous rust repair, the rear door has some corrosion at the frame welds. Can be sorted pretty easily, as I would think the rear wiper could.

The chassis is solid, has had some welding near a front outrigger, well done and very solid, all in all a solid frame. There is a little ally corrosion in a few of the panels, door bottoms etc, and the door frames need repair, kits available for a few bucks, but for the year, she's really clean. I'll list as many images as I can on ebay and will send any others I have by separate email to anyone interested. I have tried to shot all god and bad parts as I have seen them. I haven't checked all levels, the underside doesn't reveal any great patches of oil that look fresh, I will have the levels checked before it goes anywhere.

Modifications I can see are front suspension striker plate, electric fan, carpet replaced at some stage. bits I can see that need to be done, door bottoms need repair, rear was wipe not working, radio antenna not connected, or radio not working. think that's it. plus the bits of rust that are inherent to a 30 years old British classic truck, nothing major, mostly just superficial bits and bobs that depending on the climate may never raise there head again.

This is one of the early 90's, which had the galvanized door and tub caps, the panels and frame were the most solid of the models, made shortly after the Series 3 end of production. Whilst the motor isn't the most powerful, it does the job and I think may well have been rebuilt at some stage, that said she would really benefit from say a 200 tdi conversion, which was part of my original plan.

The vehicle is currently located in Long Beach CA. is not titled as yet, I had simply parked her up when she came in and I had storage on the west coast, so that's where I trucked it to. the original port of entry was NY around June 2013. The vehicle cannot be registered in the state of CA as it wont met emissions. currently just parked there in private storage. You would check the need to check the requirements in your home state to register a foreign imported vehicle that has ben approved entry by the EPA as was manufactured over 25 years ago.

I would encourage inspection of the car. Can be seen any day with prior notice in the Long Beach CA area. Once won, deposit of $250.00 to be sent by pay pal, balance to be settled and vehicle collected within 7 days. I can assist with a shipper. this would all need to  arranged by buyer and at buyers expense.

I do have a full roof cage, powder coated black, no rear ladder, also a set of 4 boost alloys with pretty good all weather tires, these  can be negotiated after sale if or interest.

Sold as seen. no warranty included or implied.

Jaguar Land Rover opens winter testing facility in Minnesota

Wed, 12 Dec 2012

As it begins the rollout of the all-wheel-drive Jaguar XJ and XF models, Jaguar Land Rover has just announced that it has opened a new facility in northern Minnesota for winter testing. Located in International Falls, MN (on the US and Canadian border), the British automaker says it is one of the coldest locations in the Continental US. Jaguar's new Instinctive All Wheel Drive system was developed primarily to help sell more cars in the northern US, so it only makes sense to open a testing area in the US as well.
With temperatures that can drop to minus 55 degrees Fahrenheit, International Falls was chosen to mimic some of the worst weather a Jaguar or Land Rover will ever see. The grounds house testing chambers, various road surfaces and even a frozen lake. This new facility complements the hot-weather testing grounds in Phoenix, AZ.
The official press release is posted below.

BMW and Jaguar Land Rover to jointly develop electric car tech

Wed, Jun 5 2019

FRANKFURT – BMW and Jaguar Land Rover on Wednesday said they will jointly develop electric motors, transmissions and power electronics, unveiling yet another industry alliance designed to lower the costs of developing electric cars. Both carmakers are under pressure to roll out zero-emission vehicles to meet stringent anti-pollution rules, but have struggled to maintain profit margins faced with the rising costs of making electric, connected and autonomous cars. "Together, we have the opportunity to cater more effectively for customer needs by shortening development time and bringing vehicles and state-of-the-art technologies more rapidly to market," said BMW board member Klaus Froehlich. BMW and Jaguar Land Rover said they will save costs through shared development, production planning and joint purchasing of electric car components. Both companies will produce electric drivetrains in their own manufacturing facilities, BMW said. The BMW Jaguar Land Rover pact comes as rivals FiatChrysler and Renault explore a $35 billion tie-up of the Italian-American and French carmaking groups. Nick Rogers, Jaguar Land Rover's engineering director said, "We've proven we can build world beating electric cars but now we need to scale the technology to support the next generation of Jaguar and Land Rover products." BMW was in talks with rival Daimler about developing electric car components but was also in discussions with Jaguar Land Rover, a company it once owned, to explore an alliance on engines. BMW already has a deal to supply an 8 cylinder engine to Jaguar Land Rover. Carmakers are increasingly open to sharing electric car parts because the technology is expensive and because customers no longer buy a car based on what engine a vehicle has. "Carmakers are much less precious about sharing electric car technology because it is much harder to create product differentiation with electric car tech. They all accelerate fast, and everybody can do quality and ride and handling," according to Carl-Peter Forster a former chief executive of Tata Motors and a former BMW executive. Jaguar Land Rover is still run by former BMW managers, including Ralf Speth the company's chief executive who spent 20 years at BMW prior to joining JLR, and Wolfgang Ziebart, the engineer who oversaw Jaguar's I-Pace electric car program, who is a former head of research and development at BMW.
