VIN: SALLDHAG7DA197433 Rare Land Rover Defender 110 Crew Cab. In excellent mechanical condition. Garage kept and has not been off-road. Underbody coated with Wax Oil. As with any older Land Rover, there are slight oil leaks, but they pose no problem if checked often. The 30 year old diesel engine smokes at start-up, but clears up quickly after it warms up. This would easily be corrected with a tune up, but I don't consider it a big deal. Driven daily. The odometer is broken, but all other instruments work correctly (wipers, horn, blinkers, instrument lights, etc.). Exterior condition: new paint job less than two years old, new black diamond plate on all trim, new lights, turn signals, brake lights, etc., new trim pieces and badges. Small crack on driver's side front fender, no other scratches or body damage. Newer Defender-style rims and BF Goodrich off-road tires with over 60% tread. Interior condition: new carpet, dash, and trim pieces. Restored at the same time as the exterior. New all-weather high-back seats. No audio or air conditioning. Local pickup or buyer handles shipping. Sale is final after auction is complete. Buyer pays $5,000 within 48 hours of auction end or sale is null. Full payment due before delivery or within 7 days, whichever is first. Money orders and cashier checks only, please. Contact seller for additional photos or information. Serious buyers only. |

Jaguar Land Rover likely to build US plant... in three years
Mon, Mar 9 2015Jaguar Land Rover may very well open a plant in the United States, but the latest word has it that it'll be another three years or so before the company even makes a decision on the matter. The prospect first came up on our radar back in October when we reported that JLR was considering building a plant in the South. Georgia governor Nathan Deal even flew to the UK to solicit JLR's business. Former parent-company chairman Ratan Tata subsequently confirmed the idea was under consideration last month. And now the British automaker's CEO has told Automotive News that JLR will need a US assembly plant to fuel its growth in the vital North American market, but that'll it'll take a while to get going. The reasons for the delay, according to chief executive Ralf Speth, are threefold. For one thing, the automaker has its hands full at the moment opening plants in other locations: last year it opened one in China and this year it opened one in Brazil. It also recently opened a new SVO facility, an electric-propulsion R&D center and a new engine plant all in the UK, and can only handle building so many new facilities at a time. JLR will also need US suppliers of aluminum components to step up their game, as the company relies heavily on aluminum construction for their vehicles. US automakers shifting to aluminum for models like the new Ford F-150 will encourage American suppliers to get into the game, but it may be a while before they're up to Jaguar Land Rover standards. Finally, JLR will need to increase its sales potential in the US in order to justify local production. Speth says the company would need one model of which it could sell 30,000 to 40,000 units in the US alone, and it sold less than 18,000 units of its best-selling the Range Rover Sport here last year. In fact the entire Jaguar brand sold less than 16,000 units throughout all of last year in America, with Land Rover selling far more at over 50,000 units to contribute to total sales of over 67,000 units. Jaguar Land Rover CEO: Wrong Brexit deal will cost thousands of UK jobs
Tue, Sep 11 2018BIRMINGHAM, England — The wrong Brexit deal could cost tens of thousands of jobs, the boss of Britain's biggest carmaker Jaguar Land Rover warned on Tuesday, saying he had no idea whether his plants would be able to operate after Britain leaves the European Union next year. Ralf Speth also said that the company would not be able to build cars if customs checks meant that the motorway to and from the southern English port of Dover, which is used to transport components, becomes a "car park" due to snarl-ups of people no longer able to move freely among EU countries. Speth made the warning at a conference in Birmingham, central England, speaking shortly before Prime Minister Theresa May, who is battling to have her so-called Chequers Brexit plan accepted by many in her Conservative Party as well as the EU ahead of Britain's departure from the bloc on March 29. "A thousand (jobs were) lost as a result of diesel policy, and those numbers will be counted in the tens of thousands if we do not get the right Brexit deal," warned Speth, referring to redundancies made earlier this year at the firm. "Currently I do not even know if any of our manufacturing facilities in the UK will be able to function on the 30th," he said. The boss of JLR, which built nearly a third of Britain's cars last year, also said long-standing issues around low productivity in Britain could be compounded by a Brexit agreement which made the country less competitive. "It is thousands of pounds cheaper to produce vehicles for instance in Eastern Europe than in Solihull, and what decisions will I be forced to make if Brexit means not merely that costs go up but that we cannot physically build cars on time and on budget in the UK?" he said.Reporting by Costas Pitas
