1979 Land Rover 109 Series III, 4X4, left hand drive, 4 speed manual, soft top, former Dutch Army. 

A couple of months ago, I imported (from the UK), this 109 and a Defender 110, planning to keep my preference and sell the other.  It was a close call, but I'm parting with the 109.

The odometer shows 17,289 kilometers, as it is 35 year old, this is not accurate.  The 109 starts easily and runs great with a 24 volt electric system and two new batteries. The diesel motor is 4 cylinders and I believe 2.25 or so liters.  It shifts easily into and out of 4 wheel drive. The frame and body are straight with minimal rust, far less than other older Land Rovers I considered.  There is a bit of rust on the bottom of the left door pillar (see photos).  Headlights, brakelights, turn signals work as do the wipers.  There are pinholes in the soft top which will need repairing.  Included with this sale, is a Land Rover Series III repair manual.

As it is 35 years old, this 109 is going to need some level of restoration, but it is really fun to drive as it is and gets plenty of attention wherever I drive it.

Jaguar-Land Rover builds millionth vehicle at Halewood

Jaguar-Land Rover is not what you'd call a volume automaker by any stretch of the imagination. But in the dozen years since it started manufacturing at its Halewood plant near Liverpool, England, the automaker has already built its millionth vehicle.
The landmark vehicle is a Range Rover Evoque, done up in white with red roof and mirrors, black wheels and a red and black interior. The crossover is set to be donated to Cancer Research UK, which will auction it off next year to help fund its projects in the north-west of the country.
Halewood started manufacturing the Jaguar X-Type in 2001, then went on to assemble the Land Rover LR2 / Freelander 2 before taking on production of the Evoque a year and a half ago. The facility reached the 300,000-unit milestone just last year as production moved to a 24-hour cycle for the first time in either marque's history.

Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR

As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though.
