1972 Land Rover Series Iii Defender 109 Lwb Diesel Safari Roof Wagon on 2040-cars
Saint Augustine, Florida, United States
72 Rover LWB 5 door wagon-Diesel 4x4 Needs restoring.
This very rare truck was owned for the past 20 years by a famous novelist,James Deware from Oxford Md. It was his plan to have it fully restored and travel the USA back roads for appox 2 years looking for material for his next book. Health issues have gotten in his way and he sold me his Rover.
Very original, body interior rack seating options trim wheels etc etc. This is not some chopped up mud truck it looks as it was when it left the factory.
A Survivor in need of love and a knowledgeable new owner. The Perkins 4 Diesel engine is not its original motor and is apart. The top half is removed and along with MANY MANY used and brand new in the box all labeled properly parts ready to go back together.
Original interior gives me goosebumps. All intact as pictures show. We are not experts but it is believed that all parts are there for the next owner.
We have done our best to picture all parts.
Mr Deware tells me his truck was running fine 4x4 works well etc approximately 5 years ago his family member took the Perkins apart as well as other things like the dash panel to start the restoration. Life has turns and the truck was parked and unloved for approx 5 years now. It rolls around and can be transported easily we had it brought to St Augustine a few weeks ago from Oxford Md for $500.
Rust? yes some in floors, doors, here and there, undercarriage and frame also see pictures not real bad but rust is present. We are showing all areas of rust in pictures nothing being held back thats not the way we do things.
Look closely at all parts we do not have the room to list all. All boxed labeled properly except large obvious parts.
Any questions you may have we will be happy to answer honestly.
Check our reviews we have been in business since 1948 and everyday we try to exceed expectations. This is the only way we know how to do business. Appox 35,000 automobiles bought and sold since 1948.
Good luck on this exceptional buy. Some feel they may be very highly collectable in the future.
Realistic reserve price questions are fine however we do believe in not ending the auction early. This upsets bidders and our reputation means everything to us.

Jaguar wants to become the British electric company
Thu, Sep 8 2016Jaguar has been telegraphing its electric future for years, and this week we're beginning to see it come to fruition. The company's Formula E race team officially launched September 8 with sponsorship, livery, and an interesting name for its racecar, the I-Type 1. It marks Jaguar's return to factory-supported racing and serves as a model for the company's future strategy. "The Formula E championship will enable us to engineer and test our advanced technologies under extreme performance conditions," Nick Rogers, executive director of product engineering at Jaguar Land Rover, said in a statement. "We will apply this vital knowledge as part of our real-world development." Formula E competition starts October 9 as the all-electric racing series begins its third season. Panasonic signed on as the title sponsor of the team. Formula E is a natural move for Jag and allows the British company to remain true to its racing heritage while still looking toward. The company claims seven Le Mans titles, which is the fourth-most in history, even though it hasn't won one since 1990. That's a great lineage, but Jaguar knows it's getting dusty. Launching a Formula E effort allows it to compete in a form of motorsports that should prove relevant to road-car technology. Jag is drawing on Williams Advanced Engineering (you might have heard of its F1 team) for the electric powertrain. Williams also helped with the development of Jaguar's C-X75 plug-in concept car. Meanwhile, we also captured an F-Pace crossover silently testing this week in the Alps. Though it looks like a normal F-Pace, spy shooters report it was producing no engine noise, leading (or perhaps leaping) to the conclusion it's the rumored electric SUV Jaguar is working on. Likely, this prototype has a diesel engine as a range extender. View 11 Photos Though the camouflaged F-Pace is great fodder for speculation, Jag's electric efforts are not a secret. Jaguar and Land Rover showed off three electric-vehicle demonstrators last year and the company is exploring everything from mild hybrids to full electric powertrains. JLR has filed paperwork to secure trademarks for I-Pace and E-Pace. "JLR is definitely rushing headfirst into electrification," said Ed Kim, vice president of industry analysis for research firm AutoPacific.
Jaguar and Land Rover to consolidate dealerships
Thu, 29 Nov 2012Jaguar and Land Rover are set to merge their sales facilities, according to Inside Line. Jaguar Land Rover North America President Andy Gross says 45 percent of Jaguar owners also have an SUV in their stable, so it makes sense to give customers as much exposure to the cat's high-riding cousins and possible. The number of overall outlets will remain the same, and the brands will reportedly remain separate on the showroom floor, however.
So far, just one dealer has made the move to combine under the roof of one 68,000 square-foot facility in Paramus, New Jersey (above), though a further 20 are ready to make the shift and become Jaguar Land Rover outlets. Gross believes the shift is necessary so that his company's dealer network will accurately reflect the company's products. We'll see how cozy the brands are when Jaguar starts rolling out its own SUVs in a few years.
Question of the Day: What's the greatest British car ever?
Fri, Jul 15 2016The British automotive industry has produced everything from high-production econo-commuters to staggeringly luxurious oligarch-wagons, along the way winning plenty of races and building plenty of beautiful machines. The original Mini led directly to the past half-century of transverse-engine, front-wheel-drive cars built everywhere, the MGB put the sporty little convertible into everyone's reach, and the Morris Oxford became the most beloved motor vehicle in India. So many to choose from, but we want you to pick one. What will it be? Related Video:
