Thank you for taking a minute to look over our beautiful Rover.  This was intended to be our family 4WD for years and years, as evidenced by the care and attention we've consistently paid to the vehicle.  The primary reason for the sale is due to a recent purchase of a long sought after Syncro Doka TDi.  The secondary reason for the sale is that we simply have too many vehicles at this point and would be thrilled to find another Rover fanatic that will enjoy and care for this LWB as we have done.

We purchased this particular LWB on August 26th, 2009 after an extensive search for a clean one meeting our criteria.  The gentleman who sold us the rig was the 3rd owner, maintained the vehicle very well and didn't take it out of CA the entire time he owned it.  He professionally converted the bags to springs, added the center grill fog lamps and always kept it in the garage.  Sadly, his health issues required the sale.  The vehicle had 91,XXX miles on the odo when we made the purchase.

Since we've been enjoying and maintaining the LWB, we've had it meticulously, and professionally, maintained by a Rover specialist who has consistently provided great service.  Roughly 30K miles ago, a complete head gasket replacement was undertaken without sparing a single expense.  They did a run-through on October 3rd to make sure everything checked out for the new caregiver.  The engine timing was reset and brand new spark plugs were installed.  That's it, everything else was good.

New BFG All Terrain T/A KO LT245/70SR16 tires were installed on January 31st, 2012 with 134,067 miles on the odo.  Plenty of life left in each tire, all of which were recently rotated for the new owner.  The headliner is original and only has one area of slight sag on the passenger side rear as seen in the pics.  Seats are all good and do show signs of acceptable wear but DO NOT have any rips or tears.  Carpet, and mats, are all present and in great shape as we kept rubber mats on top of everything.  Please note a small dark stain in the rear luggage area on the drivers side by where the spare is kept.  Can't recall seeing a cleaner back area in any of the other Rovers we've seen, even the gap between the floor and the gate is intact!

All windows work without issue including the moon roof, all lights work (except 3rd brake light) including blinkers, brakes, etc.  The cassette & 6 disk CD sound system operates beautifully.  No weird shakes, shimmies or pulls at all.  The heated seats and cruise control do not operate.  Electric seats work just fine.  As we do not use salt on the roads in Colorado during the winter, no rust worth mentioning.  Parking brake functions property.  Shifts smoothly and has plenty of power.

There is a slight bit of rust forming on the base of the rear window, the winner of this LWB gets a clean replacement (shown in the pics).  The passenger side fog lamp lens is broken, as is the drivers side front amber turn signal lens.  Small rock chips on the nose might want to be touched up by a paint pen before we get into winter, nothing major.  The front brush guard has a spot of bubbling which has recently started to form, also an easy fix.

Comes with a brand new, still in the box, complete brake rebuild kit FT/R 90/95 RC directly from Atlantic British.  It is not in need of a replacement, just figured it'd better go with the vehicle.  The replacement rear glass & frame are clean, rust free and complete.  The 3rd brake light might even work on this one though I've not tested it.  Two keys, two fobs are also included.  Heated windscreen works as well.  All glass, seals & switches are good.  I'm a bit of an OG geek, everything is as original as possible, including the paint.  Zymol on the outside, Neatsfoot oil on the inside, might want to rub some in their respective areas if only to get to know the rig.  I've also not washed the engine, as you can also see from the pics.

This is as complete a description as I can provide right now although I'm happy to answer any specific questions you may have.  If anything else comes to mind, I'll add the information.

Please speak with your spouse, significant other, parents, parole officer, etc. before bidding if you need anyone else permission to make a decision.  Whomever the winning bidder is, please be cool and honor your commitment to finalize the sale.  There is a $250 deposit to be made within 24 hours of winning the auction, final balance due within 7 (seven) business days.  Happy to help with shipping/delivery so long as it is within reason.  With the USD declining in value, and these growing in popularity overseas, we are willing to assist in overseas shipping.

We're not as motivated to squeeze every last dime out of this Rover as we are to help it find a GREAT home.  Accordingly, we've started this auction at $.99 and without reserve.  That is how confident we are in the LWB's condition and appearance.  Please feel free to set a time to inspect it (or have it inspected) and take it for a test spin.

Bid high, bid often and know this is a special Rover LWB in great condition, truly one of the good ones.  The guy who places his bid after you surely will.

Jaguar SUV mule doing Ring testing in Evoque clothes

Mon, 28 Apr 2014

Jaguar has moved its Range Rover Evoque-bodied tests of the production C-X17 Concept from icy streets to the legendary Nürburgring, as work continues on the brand's first SUV.
Really, there's not a great deal of new stuff here. Based on the number plates, this is a different vehicle from the one we saw back in March, which we originally identified as the upcoming replacement for the Land Rover Freelander/LR2. The details, though, appear largely the same. The biggest distinction we can see between the March tests and this are the US-spec headlights, which add amber reflectors at their sides. Based on these shots, it does seem as if the C-X17 should be a fairly poised road vehicle, as the engineers hustle it around the 'Ring.
Of course, as soon our spies can capture images of a production-bodied C-X17, we'll be sure to pass those on to you. Until then, take a look up top for images of the Range Rover-bodied Jaguar as it tests at Germany's Nürburgring. You can also scroll down for our March images for the C-X17 mules testing on public roads.

Jaguar Land Rover and Chery investing in Chinese plant

Sat, 24 Nov 2012

While the European auto market for Jaguar and Land Rover is waning, Chinese car buyers can't get enough of the British marques. To meet that demand, Tata Motors, parent company of Jag and Land Rover, is partnering with Chinese automaker Chery Automobile Co.
The two announced plans to invest $1.75 billion to build a new plant and create a new, China-focused brand. 2014 is the target for completion of the factory. Jaguars and Land Rovers built at the facility will be the first ever produced outside the UK according to the Associated Press. The JV will be called Chery Jaguar Land Rover Automotive Company Ltd.
The announcement comes less than a month after JLR announced it would open a design studio in China. It's not clear from the reports whether the two announcements are part of the same JV or two separate plans.

New Land Rover Defender aces Euro crash tests

Wed, Dec 9 2020

While the 2020 Land Rover Defender has not yet been crash-test by U.S. safety agencies such as NHTSA or IIHS, we do now have results for Europe's NCAP crash tests and accident-avoidance tests, where the Defender earned the top rating of five stars. The Defender model used for NCAP testing was the 110 variant with right-hand drive. The NCAP regimen includes several different crash tests: an offset front crash test into a moveable barrier with both the vehicle and the barrier traveling at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a front crash test into a full-width fixed barrier at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a side-impact crash test with a barrier traveling at 60 km/hr (37 mph) hitting the driver's door, and a side-impact test where the car strikes a pole at 32 km/hr (20 mph). The Defender's scores for the adult occupant and for a child occupant were both 85%. Additionally, the agency looks at the severity of injuries of the vehicle striking a pedestrian, taking data for a pedestrian's head hitting the hood, and their upper and lower leg being hit by the front of the vehicle. There is also testing of the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system's ability to avoiding hitting a pedestrian and a cyclist under various scenarios. The efficacy of active-safety systems for avoiding collisions with other vehicles is also tested. The Defender's score for protecting pedestrians and cyclists was 71%. The driver assists scored 79%. Results for several European-market cars were released together with those for the Defender, the most noteworthy of which was for the Honda E. The electric city car fared less well than the big Land Rover, garnering a score of four stars overall. In the same battery of test, the Honda E scored 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for a child occupant, 62% for protecting pedestrians and cyclists, and 65% for its driver assists.
