I am relisting this truck as the previous high bidder fell off the face of the earth after winning the auction.  Please, if you place a bid on my truck do so with the intent to buy my truck.  If you have less than 10 feedbacks please contact me prior to bidding.

This 1990 Range Rover was my daily driver for eight years, but it has been parked since November of 2012 when I got a 1987 BMW 325e to tinker with.  According to the autocheck ebay provides, I'm the second owner of this 24 year old Rover.

The body is in pretty good shape except for a nice dent in the front driver's side fender. Since I bought it 10 years ago I have put on new OEM springs (not cheap), new Bilstein shocks all around (not cheap) and EBC slotted rotors and pads (again, not cheap). I put new Hela fog lights in the front air dam and new Hela halogen headlights. I also installed a new aluminum framed rear hatch so there is no rust on the back glass frame. An (extremely expensive) OEM radiator was fitted about four years ago.  I've replaced numerous other parts, but at this point some may need replaced again.

The main reason the truck was parked was because it had no heat-- the heater core popped the summer of 2012. I bypassed the core and drove it until it got too chilly. Since it has been sitting for awhile, one of the tires has gone flat and the battery is totally dead. The air conditioning didn't work when I bought it and I never bothered trying to fix it, but all the components are there. The radio works but drains the battery. The sunroof opens but hangs up on the roof. I'm sure that there are a few other things, but it is a 24 year old British truck.

I pulled the battery from my other truck and put it in this one.  The windows, headlights, dash lights and horn all worked with the good battery, but the truck would not crank.  It will take some work to get this old Rover back on the road, so plan on bringing a trailer if you are the high bidder.  Do not plan on starting the truck and driving it onto a trailer, or tinkering under the hood and getting it running well enough to drive home.  Please keep in mind that this is a 24 year old British vehicle that does not run.

I will gladly take photos of anything that anyone wants to see, and will answer any questions to the best of my knowledge.  I'm not a mechanic, but I'll try to answer any question that you may have.

The truck is for sale locally, so I may end the auction early.  I have the title in hand.

Lots of Land Rovers, Jaguars and Minis actually survived that near-capsized ship

Thu, Jan 29 2015

Despite a severe list to starboard, many of the 1,400 cars and SUVs aboard the 51,000-ton Hoegh Osaka are currently being recovered in salvageable condition, with video showing some of the vehicles from British brands Land Rover, Jaguar and Mini, being driven ashore under their own power. The car-carrying vessel developed a severe list on January 3 and was intentionally run aground on a sandbar between England and the Isle of Wight. It has since limped its way back to port in Southampton, where damage assessments are being conducted on both the ship and its $53-million in cargo. According to the company that owns the car carrier, the ship itself only suffered minor damage in the incident, while Car and Driver is reporting that many of the damaged vehicles will almost certainly be scrapped. Still, the fact that there are vehicles, some of which appear undamaged (look at that Defender at 0:50!), being removed from the Hoegh Osaka needs to count as a net win. New Land Rover Defender aces Euro crash tests

Wed, Dec 9 2020

While the 2020 Land Rover Defender has not yet been crash-test by U.S. safety agencies such as NHTSA or IIHS, we do now have results for Europe's NCAP crash tests and accident-avoidance tests, where the Defender earned the top rating of five stars. The Defender model used for NCAP testing was the 110 variant with right-hand drive. The NCAP regimen includes several different crash tests: an offset front crash test into a moveable barrier with both the vehicle and the barrier traveling at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a front crash test into a full-width fixed barrier at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a side-impact crash test with a barrier traveling at 60 km/hr (37 mph) hitting the driver's door, and a side-impact test where the car strikes a pole at 32 km/hr (20 mph). The Defender's scores for the adult occupant and for a child occupant were both 85%. Additionally, the agency looks at the severity of injuries of the vehicle striking a pedestrian, taking data for a pedestrian's head hitting the hood, and their upper and lower leg being hit by the front of the vehicle. There is also testing of the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system's ability to avoiding hitting a pedestrian and a cyclist under various scenarios. The efficacy of active-safety systems for avoiding collisions with other vehicles is also tested. The Defender's score for protecting pedestrians and cyclists was 71%. The driver assists scored 79%. Results for several European-market cars were released together with those for the Defender, the most noteworthy of which was for the Honda E. The electric city car fared less well than the big Land Rover, garnering a score of four stars overall. In the same battery of test, the Honda E scored 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for a child occupant, 62% for protecting pedestrians and cyclists, and 65% for its driver assists. Jaguar Land Rover posts profitable quarter amidst big yearly losses

Mon, May 20 2019

Jaguar has posted its first profit in quite some time, as the financial quarter ending on March 31 brought in a net income of $151.6 million. However, that is the light in the end of the tunnel, as full year results through March showed a $4.58 billion loss (GBP3.6 billion). The losses are again attributable to declining sales in China, with a whiff of the still-lingering Brexit process. While JLR's annual U.S. sales were up 8.1 percent, and U.K. sales improved by 8.4%, overall sales came down 5.8% to 578,915 vehicles. For April, Chinese sales nearly halved as they dropped by 46 percent. Earlier this year, JLR's woes caused its owner Tata Motors to post the biggest ever quarterly loss in Indian corporate history, at nearly $4 billion. JLR's CEO Ralf Speth stated that the company is "reducing complexity" and transforming its business by cost savings and cash flow improvements, citing the fourth-quarter profits as an example of the ongoing turnaround. Speth said JLR has already managed to deliver $1.59 billion (GBP1.25 billion) of efficiencies and savings. JLR says its turnaround program, dubbed Charge, will drive it to at least $3.18 billion (GBP2.5 billion) of investment, working capital and profit improvements by March 2020, and that it currently has $4.84 billion (GBP3.8 billion) of cash. Speth continued that JLR will "go forward as a transformed company that's leaner and fitter," and that the sustained investment in new products and technologies will drive future demand. There has been earlier speculation of Tata Motors selling JLR to the PSA Group, but as Autocar reports, Tata's financial chief again refuted these rumors. JLR also announced today that its CFO of 11 years, Ken Gregor is stepping down after 22 years with the company, and that he will be succeeded by JLR's Chief Transformation Officer, Adrian Mardell.
