1989 Land Rover Range Rover Classic Fully Serviced Low Mile Time Warp Truck! on 2040-cars
Beverly Hills, California, United States
89 RRC 102K miles Overview: This is the Range Rover Classic you have been waiting for – period! Every feature, appointment and service detail is collector’s caliber. If you have been looking for that Rust-Free, Low-Mile, Time-Warp, Exhaustively Serviced, Fully OEM Kitted, and accesorised with RARE mint condition factory options vehicle, then this is your truck. Your Spring and Summer green-lane adventure starts here and leaves all others in its dust: Service History: This vehicle has been meticulously maintained throughout its life and it shows. With me, as a Land Rover Master Technician, I have spared no expense in seeing it reach a level of performance and cosmetic integrity that is unrivaled by anything else out there for the vintage. Here are the highlights:
Accessories Profile: Once this vehicle is sold, there are accessories packaged with this vehicle that will NEVER been seen again so don’t miss out!
Operation and Aesthetics: With all of the newly fitted rugs, headliner, and show-room level detail, you open the door and you are immediately greeted by the smell of a new car! The leather seating has been Connelly Leather Treated and is as sumptuous as the day it arrived from England. With a flick of the key, this truck comes to life and the fully serviced 3.9L is ready to take you anywhere. Adjust the electronic seats and you’re ready. The shift quality from the transmission is velvety smooth and the viscous drive from the transfer case works flawlessly. Foot to the accelerator and you are gone! This truck takes to the motorways with total ease and BEGS for you to keep going beyond 90mph. The Old Man Emu suspension system gives you an amazingly plush ride over stock and with its nitrogen charged reservoirs, road handling around town or on the freeway truly resembles the European Sports Car spirit hidden within the Range Rover Classic. Handling is crisp and spirited. There are no shimmies, shakes or freeway meanderings of any kind. The non-abs braking system (reliable FOREVER) has been flushed and refilled with Genuine Fluid and all pads replaced with Genuine Pads. This Classic stops on a dime, noise and wander-free. Just in time for summer, the AC system has been fully serviced and cools the cabin quickly. Heating is excellent and fills the cabin immediately as well. All fan speeds work from low, middle, to high speed. Whether the rebuilt sunroof wide open, or climate control on full blast, the high powered Sony Audio System delivers concert like quality sound under all driving conditions. All windows, sun-roof, blinkers, horn, fan speeds, variable wiper speeds, heated front and rear screens, head lamps, tail lamps, power seats all function perfectly. The instrument cluster illuminates and functions properly, as does the drive selector plate. A noteworthy piece of kit here in both performance and aesthetic are the original LEGENDARY Michelin XMS tires. These were made for the Range Rover Classic ONLY and deliver an astonishingly smooth and quiet ride on road while offering the most traction available when a weekend adventure would call for it. No tire EVER performed better, or looked better on a Classic, and here they are once again as when this vehicle was new! As mentioned, the OEM kit offered with this Classic is exceedingly rare and will no doubt earn you top bragging rights amongst other Classic owners. They are ready to be enjoyed, and are in MINT condition. Nothing compliments a gem of a vehicle like this as do these appointments. Nothing fits, performs, and looks the same as Genuine Accessories. Body, Chassis & Coachwork: If the pictures don’t say it all, this thing is a 100% head-turner. Driving it here around town in Beverly Hills, it commands envious looks from even 2014 RR owners. The “Chamonix White” paint is original and in astonishingly great shape. Its finish it touchably smooth and a coffee cup placed on the slope of the bonnet will slide right off! Take a minute to note the quality of the door jambs, wheel arch highlights, upper tailgate corners, etc. They are rust and rot free, just as this vehicle was shipped from the factory. Pay close attention to the core support and bulkhead under the bonnet. You will notice the same – rust, rot, and corrosion free panels and seam unions. All of this translates to integrity for a LONG time to come. The Bahamma Beige leather seats are all in EXCELLENT shape and are guaranteed to make you do a double take. They are still soft and clean, and with my having treated them with the factory Connelly Leather Care system, they will no doubt remain so. The headliner has been recovered and the sun-roof rebuilt. I dare you to find a Range Rover Classic out there with a faster sun-roof! All hinges, joints, tailgate struts, carpets, panels and moldings are clean and tidy. Brand new forward and rear mats by Lloyd’s round out an already impressively clean interior for a feeling of factory freshness that simply does not exist anymore. Completing the picture here is an amazing assemblage of OEM load-space kit: The parcel shelf is in excellent shape, the spare tire is ALSO an excellent Michelin XMS, the load space tire cover and rugs are in excellent shape, the original factory tool kit is still in the factory wrapping and the jack and chocks have not a scratch! Perhaps one of my favorite details here is the period correct factory literature provided for your enjoyment. The SHOWROOM SALES BROCHURE from 1989! The clipping from Car & Driver for this vehicle EXACTLY! The owner’s manual is complete and the correct colour! These pieces evoke a sense of timelessness that captures all of this vehicles heritage, while also ensuring that as it was new to someone once… it’s presented new to you now! Purchasing, Perspective & Why Buy From Me: No one puts a Range Rover Classic together better than me, PERIOD. It’s the vehicle I drive, and the vehicle I RACE. My work has been written about in Land Rover Owner International and Land Rover World magazines multiple times. Nearly two decades of Classic ownership and service are poured into every Classic (and every Rover) that I see into new hands. All too common are sales from the brokerage houses where a vehicle will receive a detail service and nothing else. Leaving maintenance work for the pleasure of the new owner; often times immediately following reception of the vehicle. That IS NOT what happens here. I am not a Land Rover tech that drives home in a Honda Civic. I come from a long line of British Car technicians and Live, Breathe and even RACE the green oval. I understand ALL of your concerns and needs and do my best to ensure that you will be happy based on a simple, yet powerful concept: DOES THIS VEHICLE MAKE ME HAPPY? WOULD I PUT MY WIFE AND BABY IN IT? WOULD I LOVE TO HAVE IT? The answer is always yes. And that’s when I know they are ready. I care. I know you do, too. Vehicles that I see off not only have domestic endpoints, they go to the farthest reaches of the planet. They have gone to Europe, Asia, The South Pacific, Central America and currently, a client recently purchased a trail-ready 88 RRC and is en route to Tierra Del Fuego after I picked him up in the vehicle at LAX when he flew in to receive it! The point here is, I believe in each and every vehicle that I usher in to new ownership. While these vehicles are all totally looked after, they are not immune to future service needs and flaws. They are used vehicles and normal flaws and wear should be expected as the vast majority of them are pushing 20+ years old. I invite you to ask ANY AND ALL QUESTIONS NOW! There are no queries too obscure, your satisfaction is the goal here. Additionally, eBay offers a 3rd party inspection service to verify ALL of your acquisition needs IN PERSON. Purchase of the vehicle = SATISFACTION. Once this auction is over, the winning bid and purchase imply that satisfaction has been achieved and will be understood as such. There are no warranties offered here, but that said, there is always an unspoken “hand-shake” warranty meaning that should something fail within a reasonable amount of time – say a hose, a coilpack, a distributor, blower motors, an alternator, a switch, etc – I will be happy to send you what I have available at that time. This is a NO RESERVE AUCTION so you are bidding to win! Please make sure that you bid ONLY what you are prepared to pay. This means, when the auction is over, and the winning bid is placed, this becomes THE SALE PRICE of the vehicle. Under no circumstances does it open the door to negotiate or back out of your commitment. The people bidding for this vehicle actually want it. Do not spoil their chances at ownership by arm-chair bidding. Yes, everyone joins eBay at some point, and there is no prejudice against lower transaction numbers here – HOWEVER – if I suspect and/or become aware of any insincerity on the part of said bidder, I reserve the right to cancel all bids from and block that insincere bidder from this auction. Completion of this transaction is fairly straight forward. Once the auction is over, I will be contacting the winner immediately and we can discuss the easiest way to finalize the transition. Finally, people always ask me who I think a particular vehicle is for. Given this trucks amazingly well-rounded profile, it’s truly for the person looking to enjoy Range Rover heritage with distinction. This vehicle has not been beaten upon, so you have the opportunity to have an unmolested unit, ready to be enjoyed as it left England – yet for the off-road enthusiast, you have an unbelievable platform upon which to build the overland vehicle of your dreams. This is one of the finest Range Rover Classics that I have had the pleasure to service in a very long time and know full well that its part of an elite group of vehicles in dwindling numbers. This is your chance to capture that authentic taste of Range Rover heritage with an EXCELLENT example. As the summer season approaches and roads known and unknown to you call you to adventure, what Range Rover Classic will you have at your side? Best of luck and Happy Rovering! image url upload |

Jaguar Land Rover reportedly developing Road Rover car
Tue, Sep 26 2017Reports are circulating in the automotive media that Jaguar Land Rover is developing a vehicle that's not an SUV. Called the Road Rover, it would be an all-electric luxury car with "some" all-terrain capability, hinting at all wheel drive. Initially, the EV would launch in late 2019, then spawn more models to complete the lineup. There is also talk about JLR's interest in an outright purchase of an existing luxury car brand to join its portfolio, and that parent company Tata has already given this strategic move the green light. Tata has also reportedly made moves to protect its JLR ownership via acquiring more of its own stock. All this excitement brings to mind the fact that there once existed an actual Road Rover — the Rover brand. Having evolved into MG Rover before going into administration in 2005 and subsequently reborn in China under SAIC Motor ownership, Rover was a moderately posh British carmaker just beneath the level of prestige that Jaguar offered. For some years, both were part of the same corporation. The last Rover saloons were designed and built with BMW input, and at that point Land Rover had already become part of Ford, almost a decade after Jaguar did. Ford's tenure with Land Rover lasted from 2000 to 2008, when Tata bought the British brand — along with the Rover name. Would it just make sense to badge the road car Rover, with no Road or Land affixed to it? Rover's slovenly demise is more than a decade old now, but there's plenty of valuable history still embedded in the long-shelved Viking ship logo. Cast aside memories of Sterling-badged Honda Legend platform siblings and unattractively Federalized SD1 series cars, and take whatever good the 1999-2005 Rover 75 brought to the table — maybe it's time for Rover to be reborn in the current Jaguar Land Rover family. According to Autocar, the first Road Rover would be developed in tandem with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, so they would share an aluminum architecture suitable for both internal combustion engines and battery electric technology, depending of the model. If anything, there is delicious irony to this: The 1980s XJ generation that Jaguar spent decades developing was claimed to be engineered in such a way that the occasional stablemate Rover's Buick-derived 3,5-liter V8 wouldn't have fit in its engine bay — to preserve the Jaguar bloodline. To have the new XJ and a Rover cross paths again would only be fitting. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
Top horsepower-per-dollar cars in 2017
Tue, Feb 17 2015Bang for the buck. That quasi-scientific statistic is bandied about by motor heads everywhere from classrooms to barrooms, though the truth of the matter is that it's exceedingly complex to measure. A fair performance-per-dollar index would include something like cross-referencing MSRP (Manufacturers Suggested Retail Price) with point-to-point times on a track or driving route, which is obviously hard to do comprehensively. But, for the sheer joy of talking about cars and playing with a big spreadsheet, there's always the horsepower-per-dollar index, which is more straightforward, albeit hilariously flawed. There are vagaries even with this simple formula, of course: MSRP for vehicles can change at a moment's notice, to say nothing of the bottom-line shifting that happens with local deals or showroom negotiation. For this list we're running with the straight MSRP wherever possible, and as recently reported as we can get it. All the vehicles on this list are 2017 models, and all trims are reported where the lowest price and differing power levels intersect. Some choices were made for personal preference and some for sanity, avoiding things like all 48 trim levels of the Ford Transit, all with the same horsepower). If this list were a simple top ten, or even a top fifty, you'd be bored to tears with all the red, white and blue that is represented. Following perfectly with conventional wisdom, American cars really do lead the world where hp/$ is concerned. So, for the sake of variety (and the sheer joy of seeing a minivan 'win' one round of this thing) I've sorted out some top five and bottom five lists for broad power categories. Let's dive in. Less Than 100 Horsepower Okay, okay, this is hardly a category we'll grant you. But we've often tried to click off all the sub-100-hp cars on sale in the US, and making this list gave us an excuse. It also illustrates that none of these smallish vehicles bring cheap horsepower to the table - for that you'll need a motorcycle. The segment-leading Chevy Spark (above) asks just over $139 for each hp, and that Smart Fortwo Electric Drive has hp on sale for about the same price as its very distant family cousin, the Mercedes-Benz SL65 AMG (insert your favorite Smart joke here... we know you want to).
Jaguar Land Rover offers (some) detail about new Ingenium engine
Thu, 10 Jul 2014Jaguar Land Rover officially announced its Ingenium family of engines with the unveiling of the 2.0-liter version in the Jaguar XE concept at the 2014 Geneva Motor Show, but it kept details very thin at the time. All we knew was that the new turbocharged mills could be configured to use gasoline or diesel, and be positioned longitudinally or transversely. Months later, JLR is finally letting some more info slip about its new baby, but there are still some big questions to be answered.
For the Ingenium project, Jaguar Land Rover gave its engineers a clean sheet of paper and told them not to worry about using any previous parts or machinery. In the end, the designers came up with a family of turbocharged, aluminum-block engines based around modular, 500cc cylinders to allow it to grow or shrink as the market demanded. The layout was also made adaptable enough to incorporate hybrid drivetrains, if needed. "Being configurable and flexible are the two key strands of Ingenium's DNA because we have future-proofed our new engines from the outset," said said Ron Lee, the company's director of Powertrain Engineering.
To maximize efficiency, Jaguar promises that all versions of the Ingenium engines come with computer-controlled, variable oil pumps and water pumps to use only as much energy as needed. They also get direct injection, roller bearings for the cams and stop/start. The diesel version alone has 17 percent less internal friction than the mill it replaces, the company claims. JLR is also promising class-leading figures for Ingenium's torque and horsepower too, but it's not giving away those specs just yet.
