2003 Land Rover Discovery Se Sport Utility 4-door 4.6l * No Reserve * on 2040-cars
Tellico Plains, Tennessee, United States
You are looking at a used, 2003 Land Rover Discovery II 4.6L SE *Not Running* NO RESERVE I brought this vehicle just over a year ago and used it primarily for work as I needed the 4 wheel drive at the time. I got a deal on the vehicle as it required a replacement oil pump which I changed in April last year. I also installed a simple oil pressure gauge at the time (see images.) Other than plugs and wires, I have done nothing more with the vehicle in the past year except regular oil changes. There are NO issues with any of the options or features on the vehicle other than an intermittent fault on the central locking that annoyingly decides not to unlock the rear passenger doors sometimes. Everything else functions perfectly. DETAILS OF ENGINE ISSUE *This Vehicle Cannot Be Driven* This Discovery was running until 1 month ago when on a short trip it blew a hole in the oil pan. Obviously this means the engine no longer starts and needs repair or replacing. Then engine does turn with the key to prove that there is not a seize, but no further examination or investigation has been done. I believe it has dropped a rod, but it may be more, or less serious. I saw no evidence of head gasket issues. The power steering pump leaks, and I had recently purchased a replacement seal kit to rectify the problem, but the engine died before I got to it. I'll include the seal kit in this deal. I also purchased two replacement cylinder heads which I intended to use when I broke down the engine for the oil pump issue, but I found it unnecessary. I will also include these two heads in this deal only IF the sale exceeds $800.00 All additional engine components are fully functioning to the best of my knowledge including Battery, Air/Con, Alternator, Water Pump etc. COSMETICS. The vehicle is in good shape, although I tend to not clean my vehicles as one should. There are no major and very few minor dents and dings in the body, and just a few minor scratches here and there. The old girl should clean up real good. The front bumper has damage in the center, but the rear is in excellent shape. (See images for more info.) The interior as the exterior needs a clean. If I'm honest I just don't have the time or inclination to deal with it right now. It isn't a mess, and has no major issues, tears, rips or damage, it just needs some time and effort. As mentioned previously, there are no issues with power functions other than a slight problem with the central locking. All switches, lamps, Sound System, A/C etc are functioning. All driving tires are inflated, but none are in great condition. The spare has a puncture, so honesty forces me to state that the vehicle will require a full set of replacement tires. (18" tires) I think I've covered the important stuff here, but I'm fairly sure other questions will be raised. Please contact me for additional information if needed, but it would be much better to come and take a look at the vehicle if you are interested. I'm not placing a reserve on this vehicle, as I've purchased a new vehicle and need this gone off my lawn! So it really is a bargain to anyone who want's the challenge or needs the parts. No issues with title so an easy transfer - Local Pick Up only and the vehicle will need to be towed/carried away *This Vehicle Cannot Be Driven Away* Cash , or Cashiers Check (Once cleared) Only please. Sale must be completed within 7 (Four) days of end of auction. * A holding deposit via PayPal is expected and can be placed on this sale at end of auction to hold the vehicle for up to 7 days. (See Details in Payment and Shipping below.) * Buyer must collect vehicle and remove from property within 5 (five) working days of the completion of the transaction. Buyer has sole responsibility to remove/collect vehicle from current location unless otherwise agreed in advance. Access to property for the purpose of collection/pick up is available between 9:00am - 6:00pm EST UNLESS otherwise arranged and agreed in advance. Thank you for viewing and good luck bidding! |

Jaguar tests autonomous vehicle technology with 100-car fleet
Wed, Jul 13 2016Jaguar Land Rover is exploring how to take autonomous vehicle technology off the paved path. But the company has plans for technology on tarmac, too. The company announced that the Jaguar division will have a fleet of 100 cars testing autonomous technologies on public roads. The testing process will cover a period of four years and begin with vehicle-to-vehicle and vehicle-to-infrastructure communication systems, along with a stereo camera system and autonomous vehicle software. These systems will work together to provide a variety of features that could make their way into future Jaguars and Land Rovers. The first feature in development is called "Roadwork Assist." The system relies on the stereo camera to create a 3D image the car's software can analyze. The software can identify road cones and other barriers associated with construction sites. The car will then alert the driver about entering the construction zone and provide some steering assistance to keep the car centered in its lane. Tony Harper, Jaguar's head of research, said that this system can reduce stress on the driver, and the technology could eventually be used to allow the car to pilot itself through construction zones. Another of Jaguar's proposed features is "Safe Pullaway," which also relies on cameras and software. The Safe Pullaway feature is designed to prevent close-proximity collisions in traffic jams and even in the garage. To do this, the car watches the area immediately ahead of it for obstacles. If the car detects something nearby while the driver adds throttle or shifts into gear, it will apply the brakes to prevent driving into the object. The final project on Jaguar's plate is its "Over the Horizon Warning" system. This will be one of the first features to rely on Jaguar's vehicle-to-vehicle communication technology. The idea is that connected cars in constant communication will give drivers additional warning of upcoming hazards, such as out-of-sight animals and slowed or stopped cars. In Jaguar's example of a stopped car, the stationary vehicle would send a signal alerting approaching cars of the situation. In turn, the approaching vehicles would trigger audible and visual warnings to drivers about the hidden car. Jaguar says that the system could also be applied to emergency vehicles. Emergency vehicles would broadcast a signal to alert drivers well before the lights and sirens get their attention. This would give emergency vehicles a faster, safer path through traffic.

Jaguar Land Rover calls in handful of vehicles over suspension bolts
Thu, 24 Apr 2014With most recalls seemingly affecting mass-market vehicles, it'd be all too easy to assume, consciously or otherwise, that higher-end automobiles never face such issues. But the main reason we don't see the NHTSA recalling more luxury automobiles isn't because of their quality, we'd postulate: it's because of their relative scarcity.
Take Jaguar Land Rover, recalls of whose vehicles we only seem to have cause to report about once a year. So if you're figuring they're about due, here you go. The Indian-owned British auto group has just announced two recalls, both regarding suspension components: one affecting Jaguars and another concerning - you guessed it - Land Rovers.
First up we have a recall for 2013 to 2014 model year Jaguar XJ, XF and XK models - a whopping 297 of them - which have been found to have problematic toe links. Separation of the toe link from the rear sub-frame could result in impaired stability and control over the vehicle's direction, so JLR is calling them in to replace the nuts and washers on the rear toe links.
