1999 Land Rover Discovery 2 Fully Serviced Low Miles One Family Tons Of Kit!!! on 2040-cars
Beverly Hills, California, United States
1999 Land Rover Discovery 2 – 106K miles Featured with ACE, EAS, and Non SAI!!! Introduction:
This Rover KICKS-ASS! If you have been looking to get into one for the first time, or are the seasoned enthusiast looking for a fully kitted, fully serviced, ready for battle vehicle, then GET EXCITED MY FRIENDS, and get the gloves on because EVERYONE is going to want this truck! This truck is a one family client who has brought it to me for servicing over the years and recently decided to sell it to me as part of their plan to get an LR4… I have a lot to say about this truck so get ready:
Service and Reliability:
As factory a trained, certified technician gone independent, I pride myself on making sure that all of my client’s trucks and restoration projects receive the finest service with genuine parts and expert skill. The following is a list of all of the servicing done to ensure that your ownership experience is as enjoyable as possible – this has become my signature eBay service list:
OFF-ROAD GOODIES AND MORE:
If you haven’t noticed, this truck has it all, and looks as classy as it does tough. Here’s what it’s got:
Vehicle Driving and Features:
I want to talk about the factory features for a moment (that I mentioned in the title) as they make this truck TRULY SPECIAL. ACE – or Active Cornering Enhancement – Is an amazing feature on a Land Rover. It is an intuitive system that virtually eliminates all body roll on the truck. On the highway, take a long looping freeway interchange at 90mph… this thing corners as fierce as an F1 car… there is no typical “Rover Tip” with this truck. ACE is also an amazing feature off road because it acts as a hydraulically assisted dampner and rebound for your suspension. Meaning: when everyone else’s trucks are bouncing around on the trail with beers flying out of their cooler and into the great beyond, your ride is steady and controlled… and will be something your girlfriend or wife will appreciate. Next – Rear Air Suspension. This is AWESOME because while other trucks will squat down in the rear once loaded up for a trip, the EAS system automatically adjusts for a level ride height… ALL. THE. TIME. The same goes for towing. I don’t care what it is you load up on your toy hauler… the rear end on the truck will always adjust, keeping you in control and comfortable. Secondary Air Injection – or SAI – is found on most later D2 models… and anyone who has it will tell you… is over engineering that leads to parts which fail and require frequent service. Not having SAI on this truck makes it easy for the novice mechanic to perform trail repairs, without having to remove half the engine to change a spark plug!
The cabin is quiet and odor free. This was a NON SMOKER truck. The leather is in EXCELLENT condition and all plastics, rugs, mats are in GREAT shape.
Features aside, this truck is total class all the way and a pleasure to drive with OUTSTANDING road manners. Its tasteful modifications are with parts that enhance the vehicles performance and function. It is a CLEAN TRUCK and drives as you would expect from a well-loved, Single Family Land Rover with only 106K miles! As seen in the pictures, my baby’s car seat is still in it as my wife has been driving this thing every day. I hope that adds a little more insight into how safe and reliable this vehicle truly is.
Purchasing and Perspective:
If you brought this truck to me in stock condition, and did all of the servicing that I have listed, and added all of the accessories that this truck has you would EASILY SPEND $15K+ to build this truck. Here it is, ready to go, WHEREVER. WHENEVER. I do everything I can to ensure reliability and enjoyment for the long-term. Other sellers just wash and sell them… leaving you to deal with the maintenance – always around the corner and they know it! When you buy a Land Rover from me… you are buying one of the most thoroughly prepared units available… after all, I have been driving, servicing and RACING them for over 10 years. You have an opportunity here to pick up a great truck. That being said, don’t take it for granted that every Rover “is a tank.” They need to be maintained. They produce great results and require due attention to maintain performance. While I have done everything possible during the time I have had this vehicle, it is not immune to maintenance needs over its life and the new owner should be prepared to service it accordingly. No older British Car can ever be considered perfect and you should not expect that. In my opinion, this vehicle is a 9 out of 10 due to minor surface blemishes and normal wear and tear on an otherwise clean interior. The seats are in great shape, are soft and resemble the wear of your favorite baseball glove. While the vast majority of the drive-train has been serviced, you should still expect to see normal saturation and drips of surplus fluids such as AC condensation, engine oil, etc (I do not believe in “steam cleaning” engines just to make them shiny. This hides the current working condition of the motor and can additionally damage engine management sensors). I want to point out a popular bumper sticker available from Atlantic British used among long-time Rover enthusiasts which says “If it doesn’t leak it’s not a genuine Land Rover!” This expression illustrates well the patience and enjoyment REQUIRED by the do it yourselfer as well as the most discerning collector. I encourage you to ask any and all questions NOW!!! There is no question too small or obscure. This vehicle is sold AS IS and I have done my best to reflect its current operating condition. Anything that you may need more information about, now is the time and it is your responsibility to be satisfied before-hand! Purchase of vehicle means satisfaction!!! That said, as we are not a dealership, we do not offer any kind of warranty, HOWEVER, as a fellow Rover owner, enthusiast, and technician who races them, we tend to have basic items readily available in the shop. So for example, if a switch goes out or a fog light gets smashed or you need an alternator, I am happy to accommodate you within a reasonable amount of time. I do not set a time limit on what I consider “reasonable;” I will decide what is appropriate based upon your needs at the time as well as what I have available.
Finally, the winning bid is THE ACTUAL PRICE OF THE TRUCK. Please bid what you are prepared to pay ONLY. Winning the auction does not mean you can negotiate the price and your win will subsequently be forfeit.
I have sent Rovers as far East as Singapore, far west as the South Pacific, and as far south as Costa Rica. One vehicle is even en route to Antarctica via Tierra Del Fuego… having started his 15,000 mi + journey when I picked him up at LAX last November (he is doing GREAT btw!). I say all of this because I believe in the lasting quality of the vehicles I prepare. Everyone else, is just… well… everyone else… Don’t be fooled by the copy cats out there. If it’s not from me… it’s NOT FROM ME. Don’t settle for less.
This vehicle is a pleasure to drive, functions as it should and has my FULL CONFIDENCE to take you wherever you want to go. There is no reserve so Good luck and happy bidding and HAPPY ROVERING!!! |

Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR
Fri, Jun 5 2015As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though. Jaguar Land Rover reportedly developing Road Rover car
Tue, Sep 26 2017Reports are circulating in the automotive media that Jaguar Land Rover is developing a vehicle that's not an SUV. Called the Road Rover, it would be an all-electric luxury car with "some" all-terrain capability, hinting at all wheel drive. Initially, the EV would launch in late 2019, then spawn more models to complete the lineup. There is also talk about JLR's interest in an outright purchase of an existing luxury car brand to join its portfolio, and that parent company Tata has already given this strategic move the green light. Tata has also reportedly made moves to protect its JLR ownership via acquiring more of its own stock. All this excitement brings to mind the fact that there once existed an actual Road Rover — the Rover brand. Having evolved into MG Rover before going into administration in 2005 and subsequently reborn in China under SAIC Motor ownership, Rover was a moderately posh British carmaker just beneath the level of prestige that Jaguar offered. For some years, both were part of the same corporation. The last Rover saloons were designed and built with BMW input, and at that point Land Rover had already become part of Ford, almost a decade after Jaguar did. Ford's tenure with Land Rover lasted from 2000 to 2008, when Tata bought the British brand — along with the Rover name. Would it just make sense to badge the road car Rover, with no Road or Land affixed to it? Rover's slovenly demise is more than a decade old now, but there's plenty of valuable history still embedded in the long-shelved Viking ship logo. Cast aside memories of Sterling-badged Honda Legend platform siblings and unattractively Federalized SD1 series cars, and take whatever good the 1999-2005 Rover 75 brought to the table — maybe it's time for Rover to be reborn in the current Jaguar Land Rover family. According to Autocar, the first Road Rover would be developed in tandem with the next-generation Jaguar XJ, so they would share an aluminum architecture suitable for both internal combustion engines and battery electric technology, depending of the model. If anything, there is delicious irony to this: The 1980s XJ generation that Jaguar spent decades developing was claimed to be engineered in such a way that the occasional stablemate Rover's Buick-derived 3,5-liter V8 wouldn't have fit in its engine bay — to preserve the Jaguar bloodline. To have the new XJ and a Rover cross paths again would only be fitting. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party.
Ferrari exec to lead Jaguar North America
Tue, 06 Aug 2013Jaguar has announced that Jeff Curry will be serving as the brand's new North American vice president, effective August 13. The move is a coup for Jag, which lured Curry away from his previous posting as VP of marketing for Ferrari North America, and is further evidence of just how strong Jaguar's comeback has gotten.
Curry has spent over 20 years in the auto industry, and has worked with Audi, SiriusXM and Land Rover, where he made his start in the industry. His primary responsibilities with Jaguar will cover marketing communications, customer relationship management, and product planning.
Jaguar Land Rover's North American president, Andy Goss, heaped praise on the brand's newest addition saying, "Jeff brings with him extensive automotive and luxury marketing experience, critical expertise in leading-edge technologies and a personal passion for automobiles."
