1996 Land Rover Discovery Se7 Sport Utility 4-door 4.0l on 2040-cars
Silver Spring, Maryland, United States
With lots of regrets, I am listing my 1996 land rover Discovery se7. This a rust free southern truck that never saw anytime in the mud. The veh. is in good condition with minor dents and dings for the age, but nothing major. As for the interior it is also in good condition with the exception of the rear seat as you can see in the pictures. there is a small cut and the stitching started to come apart. All the lights work as they should. the heat works great as well as the a/c (blows cold air). Transmission shift flawlessly. I have taken the truck on a 500 mile round trip with motorcycle and trailer towed behind with out any problem. The sunroof has been calked shut by prior owner to keep it from leaking rain in the truck. It might still work, but I never looked in to it as I have no need for the sunroof. This truck has the center diff lock with high and low range gear that also work flawlessly. I will have the matching rims for the truck, the two rear rims will be changed out with the original rims. The rear bumper has a dent on the right corner and it too will be replaced with a good condition used one with all the lights on it. I replaced brake rotors and pads on all four wheels. There are no warning lights on the dash! I had many plans to turn this truck into an off road beast for my wife to take off roading, but we just had a new born baby so something has to go as I just don't have the time to do anything to it. Nor do I have the money I used to have to put into it. I have too many toys so like I said, something has to go. These series 1 discovery are getting harder and harder to come by, especially one that is rust free. I might have forgotten to mention something so if you have any question just ask. The truck has 180k miles on it but it runs great. All power windows are in great working condition. My name is Vennak 301-908-2296 if you have any questions. |

Merecedes-Benz EQS, Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and Subaru Forester Wilderness | Autoblog Podcast #702
Fri, Oct 29 2021In this episode of the Autoblog Podcast, Editor-in-Chief Greg Migliore is joined by Senior Editor James Riswick. They've been driving some exciting new EVs, like the Ford Mustang Mach-E GT and the Mercedes-Benz EQS. They also discuss driving the new Subaru Forester Wilderness, as well as the perfectly agreeable Toyota Camry XSE Hybrid. James compares four big-name off-roaders — the Ford Bronco, Jeep Wrangler, Toyota 4Runner and Land Rover Defender — based on their ability to accommodate a big load of luggage. Next they reach into the mailbag for comments on the Genesis GV70, as well as a Spend My Money question about replacing a wrecked Subaru Ascent with another three-row SUV. Jaguar may join the FWD, small-car parade
Tue, 13 Aug 2013Was it right for Chevrolet to detune the 1975 Corvette's base engine to 165 horsepower? Was Aston Martin wrong to make the Toyota iQ-based Cygnet? Is BMW crazy to be testing the new 1 Series with three-cylinder engines and front-wheel drive? It seems now, just as in the 1970s and 1980s, that emissions regulations and social considerations are driving some automakers to adopt unbefitting practices to maintain acceptance in the eyes of governments and consumers. Jaguar has jumped on the bandwagon, and is considering development of small, frugal, front-wheel-drive cars to help lower Jaguar Land Rover's average vehicle CO2 levels in light of tightening European emissions regulations, Autocar reports.
By 2020, the European Union expects the model range of every manufacturer to average 95 grams per kilometer, which is a new law passed by the European Parliament in April. Manufacturers who make more than 300,000 vehicles per year must meet these targets, and JLR is expected to be producing up to 700,000 vehicles per year by then. CO2 regulations after 2020 will only get stricter, as EU politicians already are talking about lowering CO2 levels to between 68 g/km and 78 g/km. (To put that in perspective, Autocar posits that driving a fully charged electric vehicle in Europe produces about 75 g/km when factoring in the power-generation infrastructure.)
Jaguar has some choices here, but so far they all have drawbacks. It could develop a new, compact chassis architecture for a line of compact vehicles, but the investment required for such a project could be prohibitively expensive. Jaguar has been looking into using the Land Rover Evoque platform for a small SUV, Autocar reports, but Land Rover brand manager John Edwards raises issue with such a plan, saying it may not be financially feasible.
Xcar drives Jaguar C-X75, other Spectre villains of 007
Thu, Oct 29 2015James Bond returns to US theaters very soon in Spectre, and with the action-packed film wrapped, the producers are lending out the keys to some of the movie's automotive stars. We've already seen Jay Leno behind the wheel of Bond's Aston Martin DB10. Now, Xcar's Alex Goy has taken a turn in some of the flick's villainous rides from Jaguar Land Rover, including a very special Jaguar C-X75. The crew from JLR's Special Vehicle Operations team certainly did an impressive job of giving the movies baddies some appropriately nefarious rides. To challenge Bond, they turned the Land Rover Defender into a beast with chunky, off-road tires and blinding-spot lights. They also made the Range Rover Sport SVR even more diabolical than normal with a blacked-out look and LED lightbar. Of course, the king of Spectre's villain cars is the C-X75. According to Goy, most of the ones in the movie use the company's 5.0-liter, supercharged V8, but two are actually original prototypes with the hybrid setup. He gets to drive one of those special examples in this clip. While limited to some low-speed cruising, the coupe still looks wonderfully menacing on the road. Related Video:
