This is a nice example of a X-MOD Defender 110. It is a left hand drive, 2.5 na diesel with 5 speed trans. It has its original chassis , and engine configuration , is 27 years old and was imported legally and properly. It has only 94k kilometers [58k miles] and has just begun its life. It was first put in to service on 5/13/2006. Ebay does not recognize these older vins and I had to put 1980 as the model year in the listing. It is actually a 1986. Clean, clear Florida Title in hand, showing actual mileage. This example was part of the "Tithonus Project". This was a program to extend the service life of the service's Defenders. Only the best ones were selected and then totally refurbished in 2007-2008 at massive expense. In addtion to refurbishing the mechanicals and giving them a new NATO Green Respray, they received lots of upgrades. New premium Exmoor "Outlast" front seats, insulated matting system, heavy duty "Wolf" rear bench seats, full OEM Safety Devices Roll Cages, hard tops, "Wolf " heavy Duty Wheels, and new Michelin XZL Tires. These items make this Defender far superior in safety and comfort that other X-MOD Defenders and a fantastic value. The roll cage alone would cost approx. $5k to have installed and could save your life in the event of a rollover. This example is also referred to as a "FFR", which stands for , fitted for radio. These radio equipped vehicles are also in far better shape than the standard, "General Service" units. They led a fairly easy life. Please do not confuse this Tithonus with the normal worn out and beat up X-Mod Defenders that are offered for what seems like a bargain price. There is a reason they are cheap. This truck is also equipped with 2 alternators, a 12 volt and 24 volt . The second one can be easily removed if desired. Being an X-Military vehicle, it is a very simple , easy to maintain , spartan truck. There are no ammenities what so ever! No a/c, no power anything, no stereo, etc, etc. The diesel is Land Rover's legendary 2.5 litre ,normally aspirated, mechanically injected , super simple and reliable engine. It can run on bio diesel, etc. The diesel engine was just rebuilt in 2012 and probably has not been broken in yet. It runs, drives, and stops as it should, and is ready for a whole new life here in civilian hands. This vehicle has great history and great bones. It is nice inside out . It also lends itself to all kinds of addditions, mods, etc. There is a whole world of parts and accessories available. You can convert it to a soft top, add power steering, change the color, tires, wheels, add a winch, a snorkel, offroad lights, suspension lifts, etc. We have a full service shop that specializes in Land Rovers and can perform almost any work you desire. The hard top is easily removeable for open air cruising. I have included a photo of another one of my Tithonus 110s with the top removed to show how cool they look that way. The vehicle will come with a clear Florida title and copies of the import paperwork. Vehicle is sold as is, and inspections are welcome, by appoinment. We offer courtesy airport pick up and can arrange nationwide , professional shipping at dealer rates. This vehicle is not for eveyone, but will not dissapoint the buyer that is looking for such a vehicle. Questions are also welcome. Land Rovers are my passion and I have been selling them exclusively for fifteen years and have sold over eighteen hundred of them. My cell is 954-816-8885. |

Jaguar Land Rover data leak reveals employee records, upcoming layoffs
Fri, May 25 2018A massive data leak has revealed the personnel files of hundreds of employees at Jaguar Land Rover's factory in Solihull, England. The documents reveal details such as sick days used, disciplinary issues and — most notably — red lines indicating potential firings in the weeks or months ahead. In total, the personal records of more than 600 workers were released. JLR is scrambling to contain the crisis. The breach was first reported by the Huffington Post UK, with the automaker initially claiming the story was "fake news." That publicity gaff certainly didn't help matters, especially for employees staring at their name with a red line slashed across it. Last month, the British automaker had said it would be eliminating roughly 1,000 employees at factories in the U.K. The Solihull plant, which produces models like the Range Rover, Range Rover Sport, Jaguar F-Pace and Jaguar XE, was among those mentioned in the statement. JLR, which is owned by the Indian conglomerate Tata Motors, is facing a steep drop in sales, particularly in its home market. The main culprits include a huge slump in sales of diesel-powered vehicles - a vital part of JLR's business in the U.K. and throughout Europe - along with fears about how the upcoming "Brexit" will affect business operations. In the HuffPost UK story, one worker called the situation "disgusting" and "embarrassing," adding that people at the factory now know whether they, or their colleagues, are soon due to lose their job. Jaguar Land Rover likely to build US plant... in three years
Mon, Mar 9 2015Jaguar Land Rover may very well open a plant in the United States, but the latest word has it that it'll be another three years or so before the company even makes a decision on the matter. The prospect first came up on our radar back in October when we reported that JLR was considering building a plant in the South. Georgia governor Nathan Deal even flew to the UK to solicit JLR's business. Former parent-company chairman Ratan Tata subsequently confirmed the idea was under consideration last month. And now the British automaker's CEO has told Automotive News that JLR will need a US assembly plant to fuel its growth in the vital North American market, but that'll it'll take a while to get going. The reasons for the delay, according to chief executive Ralf Speth, are threefold. For one thing, the automaker has its hands full at the moment opening plants in other locations: last year it opened one in China and this year it opened one in Brazil. It also recently opened a new SVO facility, an electric-propulsion R&D center and a new engine plant all in the UK, and can only handle building so many new facilities at a time. JLR will also need US suppliers of aluminum components to step up their game, as the company relies heavily on aluminum construction for their vehicles. US automakers shifting to aluminum for models like the new Ford F-150 will encourage American suppliers to get into the game, but it may be a while before they're up to Jaguar Land Rover standards. Finally, JLR will need to increase its sales potential in the US in order to justify local production. Speth says the company would need one model of which it could sell 30,000 to 40,000 units in the US alone, and it sold less than 18,000 units of its best-selling the Range Rover Sport here last year. In fact the entire Jaguar brand sold less than 16,000 units throughout all of last year in America, with Land Rover selling far more at over 50,000 units to contribute to total sales of over 67,000 units. Jaguar Land Rover to recall 44,000 vehicles over excessive diesel emissions
Thu, Mar 14 2019Jaguar Land Rover is recalling 44,000 vehicles in the U.K. due to some of its vehicles emitting higher CO2 emissions than were officially stated. The recall is said to affect vehicles equipped with JLR's 2.0-liter diesel engine in cars built between 2014 and 2018. Quite a few models are affected, including the Jaguar XE, XF, E-Pace, F-Pace, along with the Land Rover Discovery Sport, Range Rover Evoque, Range Rover Velar and Range Rover Sport. The excessive CO2 emissions were discovered by the British vehicle certification agency, who then reported it to JLR. The company is reportedly working on a fix that will satisfy the agency and bring the cars back in line with their stated CO2 emissions. As of now, JLR is not saying what the fix will entail. A statement from JLR reads: "The modifications will be made free of charge, and every effort will be made to minimize inconvenience to the customer." The U.K. magazine Which? said JLR told them owners might experience minor changes to the "overall vehicle experience." Reading between the lines there, that sounds like there could be some pretty serious tampering with the engine software, but we'll leave the speculation to a minimum for now. CO2 emissions numbers are used in the U.K. to set tax levels for vehicles, which means JLR could have gotten out of some taxation with its artificially low CO2 numbers. At this point we don't know how badly the numbers are off, so it's impossible to know how egregious the mislabeling is. There also isn't any explanation for why the CO2 numbers are off, but this is all information that could be forthcoming. The 44,000 number could rise, too, because the UK vehicle standards agency says that some gasoline models could also be involved. That would open a whole new can of worms for JLR. Some Jaguar vehicles (XE, XF and F-Pace) offer a 2.0-liter diesel option for the U.S., but Land Rover's only diesel it sells here now is the 3.0-liter V6. For the time being there's no recall out on the diesel or gas engines from JLR in the U.S. There's no chatter surrounding emissions cheat devices like those involved with Volkswagen's diesel emissions scandal. Nor does the scale of whatever the problem is come anywhere near the amount of Volkswagen diesels that needed to be recalled or taken off the roads. We'll be keeping tabs on the situation to see if this expands any further than the U.K. Green Recalls Jaguar Land Rover SUV Diesel Vehicles Luxury Sedan
