1994 Land Rover Defender 90 Base Sport Utility 2-door 3.9l on 2040-cars
Carmel, California, United States
1994 NAS Land Rover Defender 90 3.9 ltr. fuel injected aluminum V8 with upgraded Mallory
ignition 5 speed R380 transmission LT230 high/low transfer case with diff lock 5- 285/75/16 BF Goodrich all terrain tires with about 75%
tread left 1.5” spring lift with OME shocks This is a very
nice, non rusty, dry climate, low mileage Defender. As you can see from the
pictures, it comes with a full top as well as a bikini top and tonneau cover
set up giving you several options. I know its hard to
inspect a vehicle from an Ebay ad so I’ll try to be as thorough as possible
here. It has a rebuilt title because, as I heard it, the body panels were
vandalized with a claw hammer and the seats were sliced by a disgruntled ex. It
was all repaired including a new body panel on the left rear of the tub, right
rear of tub was repaired, bonnet (hood) was repaired, doors were both replaced
with brand new, wings (front fenders) were replaced with good used ones and of
course the entire truck has been repainted. The seats were replaced as well. It drives nice
and straight on the highway and has plenty of power. It shifts good too
although if you try to go from 1st to 2nd gear too fast you’ll get a slight
gear meshing sound. Its fine if you don’t try to shift like you’re in a race
car. I use Redline MTL transmission fluid in the transmission. The interior is
real nice although there are a few cracks in the 20 year old plastic parts here
and there which have been repaired. The air conditioning works great. It has 2
new a/c vents and the brake and clutch pedal pads are new. Has a CD
player/radio, tuffy lock box and new waterproof marine grade speakers. The
fully enclosed top is very usable although it is 20 years old and doesn’t seal
around the doors all that great and has a few tiny spots that a starting to
tear a bit. The soft top attaches to the tub via the improved belt rail system
like on a 95 or 97 instead of the snaps that came on a 94. The rear lights and
side marker lights have been upgraded to the 95/97 style as well. It has brand
new front brake pads. It also has a brand new 4 pin tail light converter hooked
up for trailer lights although I’ve never actually towed with it. It's not a perfect D90, but it is really really nice. Feel free to ask
more questions if there’s anything I haven't addressed here. I encourage and
welcome you to come inspect the truck in person if you are able to. I'll be
happy to coordinate my schedule to meet any vehicle transport servicer that you
arrange to pick up the vehicle if needed. |

New Land Rover Defender aces Euro crash tests
Wed, Dec 9 2020While the 2020 Land Rover Defender has not yet been crash-test by U.S. safety agencies such as NHTSA or IIHS, we do now have results for Europe's NCAP crash tests and accident-avoidance tests, where the Defender earned the top rating of five stars. The Defender model used for NCAP testing was the 110 variant with right-hand drive. The NCAP regimen includes several different crash tests: an offset front crash test into a moveable barrier with both the vehicle and the barrier traveling at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a front crash test into a full-width fixed barrier at 50 km/hr (31 mph), a side-impact crash test with a barrier traveling at 60 km/hr (37 mph) hitting the driver's door, and a side-impact test where the car strikes a pole at 32 km/hr (20 mph). The Defender's scores for the adult occupant and for a child occupant were both 85%. Additionally, the agency looks at the severity of injuries of the vehicle striking a pedestrian, taking data for a pedestrian's head hitting the hood, and their upper and lower leg being hit by the front of the vehicle. There is also testing of the vehicle's automatic emergency braking system's ability to avoiding hitting a pedestrian and a cyclist under various scenarios. The efficacy of active-safety systems for avoiding collisions with other vehicles is also tested. The Defender's score for protecting pedestrians and cyclists was 71%. The driver assists scored 79%. Results for several European-market cars were released together with those for the Defender, the most noteworthy of which was for the Honda E. The electric city car fared less well than the big Land Rover, garnering a score of four stars overall. In the same battery of test, the Honda E scored 76% for adult occupant protection, 82% for a child occupant, 62% for protecting pedestrians and cyclists, and 65% for its driver assists. Here's today's round of auto plant closures in response to coronavirus
Fri, Mar 20 2020More automakers have shuttered factories, as businesses everywhere work to slow the spread of the Covid-19 coronavirus — and as the pandemic slows sales and disrupts parts supply chains. On Friday, the following closures were announced: • Volvo will close its factories in Sweden and the United States from March 26 to April 14. Volvo's U.S. facility, in Charleston, South Carolina, makes the S60 sedan. Its assembly plant in Torslanda, Sweden, turns out the XC90, SC60, and V90. Other Swedish facilities make engines and component parts. A Volvo factory in Ghent, Belgium, that builds the XC40 and V60 closed earlier this week and is expected to remain offline until April 6. Volvo's four factories in China have been reopened after a shutdown earlier this year. • Jaguar Land Rover announced that it will suspend production at its assembly plants in the UK over the coming week. The shutdown is expected to last until April 20. Elsewhere, production continues at the company's factories in India and Brazil, and JLR's joint-venture plant in China reopened at the end of February. • Bentley is closing its factory in Crewe, England, for four weeks, effective today. • Bugatti has put its atelier in Molsheim, France, on hiatus. No date was given for when assembly of its supercars might resume. • Mercedes-Benz on Monday will shut down its SUV factory in Alabama and its van assembly plant in South Carolina. Both will remain closed for a minimum of two weeks. Tesla yesterday revealed that it will suspend operations at its Fremont, California, vehicle assembly plant next week, on order from local officials there. Yesterday's factory closure announcements also included the U.S. assembly plants for Toyota (until April 6), Volkswagen (through March 29), Subaru (through March 29), and Hyundai (no time period specified). They join GM, Ford, Chrysler, Honda, Nissan, and Harley-Davidson, which earlier this week announced the suspension of production at their facilities. Best luxury SUVs of 2022 and 2023
Mon, Sep 12 2022Once upon a time, the idea of a luxury SUV meant a Range Rover, and even that was pretty agricultural by modern standards. Then Jeep Grand Cherokees and Ford Explorers started offering fancy, range-topping versions followed soon by Lexus, BMW and Mercedes dipping their toes in the water. And then the floodgates opened. Today, there is a staggering number of luxury SUVs available in every shape, size and price point. There are electric luxury SUVs like the Tesla Model X and Jaguar I-Pace, as well as gas-swilling, high-performance SUVs like the BMW X5 M and Cadillac Escalade V. Sports car makers Porsche, Aston Martin and Lamborghini have even dived in. But of this great many, which are the best luxury SUVs? We sat down, scoured our reviews, took some votes, had some discussions and came up with the luxury SUVs we view as the best. They are listed alphabetically within the six segments listed below. Best Subcompact Luxury SUV  |  Best Compact Luxury SUV  |  Best Midsize Luxury SUV (Two-Row) Best Midsize Luxury SUV (Three-Row)  |  Best Flagship Luxury SUV (Two-Row)  |  Best Flagship Luxury SUV (Three-Row) Best subcompact luxury SUVs Mercedes-Benz GLB-Class Why it stands out: Outstanding space and versatility; legit luxury interior; amusing GLB 35 versionCould be better: Overwhelming and confusing tech interface Most subcompact luxury SUVs are a dubious value, with cramped interiors of marginal quality and unrefined driving dynamics. You'd be much better off paying less money for a loaded, non-luxury compact SUV. The Mercedes GLB is different, though. Its boxy design provides space few other subcompact SUV can match (luxury or otherwise), while its cabin design and feature content are in keeping with pricier Mercedes models. The quality's not exactly up to GLC standards, nor is driving refinement, but the difference is appropriate for how much you're saving and still perfectly acceptable. There's nothing dubious about buying a GLB.   Volvo XC40 Why it stands out: More features for the money; spacious and versatile interior; distinctive design; electric versionCould be better: Fuel-efficient base engine only available with FWD Most subcompact luxury models feel a bit like cheap knockoffs of their bigger, pricier brand mates. The XC40, by contrast, is a break from the Volvo norm in a good way.
