1994 Defender 90 on 2040-cars

I am the original, and only owner of this 1994 Defender 90.

I purchased it in Minneapolis,( August 1994) where I had a home, and immediately drove it to my home in Naples, Florida, where it has been garaged for its existence.  Other than the trip from Minneapolis (1900 miles on the interstate), and a couple of trips to Key West (440 miles round trip), the car has been under cover, and out of the sun for 99.9% of the time, while in my procession.

It has 15561 miles on the odometer as of 5/30/14…. I still drive it to the coffee shop on occasion

These are soft miles because the truck has never been off the road, but merely used, to drive around town, and to haul nursery plants, or stuff from the Home Depot. Perhaps best described as a novelty vehicle for me.

In preparation for sale, I gave thought to replacing the original floor mats, and cargo liner, however found that only the liner, was still available, through Land Rover…….So,  I purchased it, and it arrived about a week ago….It is included, and displayed in one of the photos

I have the window sticker, bill of sale, and the original full canvas top, and two windows…plus service records….In addition, I have the original  radio,(included) which still works, however was replaced by a newer one, that was better for receiving sirius radio (see bracket in photo)….I have the document with the code, to activate, if you choose to reinstall the original radio.

The spare tire has never been off the rear door mount, and you can still see the tire mould excesses on the tread.

Perhaps the craziest acccessory, is a tonneau cover (see photo). It was on the truck when I purchased it, and immediately put in my garage…i forgot I had it, however it looks brand new……..It has three pockets…Two over the seat tops, and one over the spare tire. All the snaps are on the vehicle….Can't imagine using it, however for the purists, it is included.

In reviewing the window sticker , the base price was $27,900 plus $900.00 for the Five-Spoke Aluminum Alloy Wheels….+ $95.00 for Inland transportation…Total $29,395….Port of entry Oxnard, California

I also have the marketing brochure…Highlights?……182 H.P.3.9 Litre Aluminum V-8……..BF Goodrich Radial Mud Terrain T/A Tires…7"x16" Wheels…..Estimated Curb weight 3560 Lbs….and a 15.6 gallon gas tank

Why am I selling it?….Well at 71, I am starting to tidy up the assets in my estate, and the last thing I want to do is turn it over to some bone headed  heir, who would either abuse it, or not recognize it's value.

I have been watching the auctions of Defenders for the past two months on E-Bay

Needless to say I want to play a role in it's placement, and yes, I do watch "Chasing Classic Cars"

Oh….I will of course work with you on shipment (your responsibility)…However will be available to shepard the truck onto the transport company of your choice.  My neighbors, ship exotic cars up north all the time for their summer use…. An enclosed transport would be the advised approach

I can be reached, via voice, or text, on my cell phone 239 272 7035.

My name is Ed

Jaguar Land Rover says key models in short supply, some have six-month wait lists

Fri, 08 Aug 2014

Care for a bit more proof that the Jaguar Land Rover portfolio of vehicles is the best it's ever been? Well, the Indian-owned pair of brands saw a record year in 2013, while 2014 has seen a 14-percent increase in sales. The crazy thing is, though, is that figure could be even higher, provided the company had the production capacity.
JLR is running a six-month waiting list on two of its most popular models, the Range Rover Sport (above) and Range Rover. According to Mark White, the company's chief technologist for body engineering, the blame can be placed on the paint shop at the company's Solihull factory, in the UK.
"We will probably max out the paint shop before we max out the body shop. Putting the second body shop in has given us the flexibility to ebb and flow the different models that go through there and meet the capacity demands we've got," White told Automotive News. "However, you always hit a bottleneck somewhere. And the paint shop is probably going to be the next biggest obstacle."

Editors' Picks March 2021 | Ford Mustang Mach-E, Polestar 2, Land Rover Defender and more

Thu, Apr 8 2021

The month of March was unofficial minivan month here at Autoblog. We drove all of them but the Kia Carnival, but don’t worry, you wonÂ’t have to wait much longer to read that review. Among all the family-toting machines, we drove some more exciting vehicles including the Land Rover Defender and a pair of up-and-coming EVs. It was a month of excellent cars, meaning that this monthÂ’s litter of EditorsÂ’ Picks is stacked. In case you missed FebruaryÂ’s picks, hereÂ’s a quick refresher on whatÂ’s going on here. We rate all the new cars we drive with a 1-10 score. Cars that are exemplary or stand out in their respective segments get EditorsÂ’ Pick status. Those are the ones weÂ’d recommend to our friends, family and anybody whoÂ’s curious and asks the question. The list that youÂ’ll find below consists of every car we rated in March that earned the honor of being an EditorsÂ’ Pick. 2021 Ford Bronco Sport 2021 Ford Bronco Sport First Edition View 32 Photos Quick take: Ford's baby Bronco is an authentic foil to the big Bronco 2-Door and 4-Door. It brings rugged styling, better-than-average off-road capability and thoughtful utility features to a generic segment of cars. Score: 8 What it competes with: Jeep Compass, Jeep Cherokee, Mazda CX-30, Subaru Crosstrek, Kia Seltos, Chevrolet Trailblazer Pros: Stellar design, excellent off-road, clever interior details throughout Cons: Pricier than most, average transmission, underwhelming interior quality and ambiance in lowest trims From the editors: Road Test Editor Zac Palmer — “I genuinely enjoy driving this cute crossover. It feels like a mini truck on the road, and Ford admirably translated the design from its big Bronco over to this Escape-based crossover. News Editor Joel Stocksdale — "The Bronco Sport isn't perfect, the transmission could use some work, and it's a little bumpy, but it's a characterful little thing with loads of style, great visibility and space, and impressive capabilities on and off road in the powerful Badlands form." In-depth analysis: 2021 Ford Bronco Sport Review | Bronco for the masses   2021 Land Rover Defender 2021 Land Rover Defender 110 View 64 Photos Quick take: The Land Rover Defender provides everything you'd hope for in a modern Land Rover: superlative off-road capability, surprisingly plush on-road demeanor, abundant interior space and abundant character. The base four-cylinder is likely all you'll need and lower trim levels provide more than enough equipment.

Consumer Reports no longer recommends Honda Civic

Mon, Oct 24 2016

Consumer Reports annual Car Reliability Survey is out, and yes, there are some big surprises. First and foremost? The venerable publication no longer recommends the Honda Civic. In fact, aside from the walking-dead CR-Z and limited-release Clarity fuel-cell car, the Civic is the only Honda to miss out on CR's prestigious nod. At the opposite end there's a surprise as well – Toyota and Lexus remain the most reliable brands on the market, but Buick cracked the top three. That's up from seventh last year, and the first time for an American brand to stand on the Consumer Reports podium. Mazda's entire lineup earned Recommended checks as well. Consumer Reports dinged the Civic for its "infuriating" touch-screen radio, lack of driver lumbar adjustability, the limited selection of cars on dealer lots fitted with Honda's popular Sensing system, and the company's decision to offer LaneWatch instead of a full-tilt blind-spot monitoring system. Its score? A lowly 58. The Civic isn't the only surprise drop from CR's Recommended ranks. The Audi A3, Ford F-150, Subaru WRX/STI, and Volkswagen Jetta, GTI, and Passat all lost the Consumer Reports' checkmark. On the flipside, a number of popular vehicles graduated to the Recommended ranks, including the BMW X5, Chevrolet Camaro, Corvette, and Cruze, Hyundai Santa Fe, Porsche Macan, and Tesla Model S. Perhaps the biggest surprise is the hilariously recall-prone Ford Escape getting a Recommended check – considering the popularity of Ford's small crossover, this is likely a coup for the brand, as it puts the Escape on a level playing field with the Recommended Toyota RAV4, Honda CR-V, and Nissan Rogue. While Ford is probably happy to see CR promote the Escape, the list wasn't as kind for every brand. For example, of the entire Fiat Chrysler Automobiles catalog, the ancient Chrysler 300 was the only car to score a check – there wasn't a single Dodge, Fiat, Jeep, Maserati, or Ram on the list. That hurts. FCA isn't alone at the low end, either. GMC, Jaguar Land Rover, Mini, and Mitsubishi don't have a vehicle on CR's list between them, while brands like Mercedes-Benz, Volvo, Nissan, Lincoln, Infiniti, and Cadillac only have a few models each. You can check out Consumer Reports entire reliability roundup, even without a subscription, here.
