1987 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Station Wagon 7-seats Very Original Condition on 2040-cars
Spring, Texas, United States
Here we have a very original 1987 Land Rover Defender 90 V8 Station Wagon. This is a right-hand drive model recently imported from the UK. eBay does not recognize the UK VIN and lists the vehicle as a 1980 model, however, it is a 1987 and I have the UK registration document to verify this. It is a genuine Defender 90 station wagon with seating for seven. It has the
3.5L V8 which is quite rare for this UK model (most have the 2.5L 4-cylinder diesel
or petrol.) It starts, runs, drives and stops perfectly and has good power and
torque from the V8. Odometer has 111,000 recorded miles. Just prior to export the vehicle passed the UK Ministry of
Transport (MOT) test, which is required every year in the UK. This test is much
more stringent than the inspections we have here in the US and the Land Rover
passed no problem. The MOT test also advises on issues that may arise with the
vehicle in the near future, however the Land Rover passed clear with no
advisories and is therefore a safe and sound vehicle and certified to drive on
UK roads. I will provide the MOT certificate to the new buyer. I have all the import paperwork from US Customs and the vehicle
is ready to be titled and registered in the US. Check with your state on
requirements for titling and registering and I will ensure you have the
required paperwork. I can title the vehicle in Texas if required. Exterior The paint and exterior decals all appear to be original. The
vehicle is very clean and paint is shiny. Land Rover panels are aluminum and
over the years can tend to oxidize. Where this occurs it causes the paint to
bubble up and this has happened in a few places on the bodywork. This is purely
cosmetic and as you can see from the pictures the vehicle still looks good but
close up the oxidation is noticeable. Interior The interior is again very original, clean and tidy for 27
years old. It has the original Land Rover fitted rubber floor mats. Nothing bad
to say about the interior apart from the headliner panel is sagging slightly in
the rear. Mechanical Then engine and 5-speed transmission perform very well. It
starts runs and idles well. It shifts through the gears well with no funny
noises. Clutch is strong and smooth. Brakes are also strong and smooth. Vehicle
runs very well with no issues. The chassis has had some weld repairs over the
years and has had a new rear cross-member fitted recently. Vehicle is located in Spring, TX, just north of Houston.
Viewing welcome. I will help with shipping where I can or work with your
designated shipper. I require a $500 deposit within 24hrs of eBay sale and full
payment with 7 days by bank transfer. Collection within 14 days. |

Jaguar Land Rover to cut workforce by 2,000 in push toward electric future
Thu, Feb 18 2021Jaguar Land Rover said on Wednesday it would cut 2,000 jobs from its global salaried workforce, just days after announcing its luxury Jaguar brand will be entirely electric by 2025 and e-models of its entire lineup will be launched by 2030. "The full review of the Jaguar Land Rover organization is already under way," the company said in an emailed statement. "We anticipate a net reduction of around 2,000 people from our global salaried workforce in the next financial year," it said. However, it added that the organizational review did not impact hourly paid, manufacturing employees. JLR, owned by India's Tata Motors, said earlier that its Land Rover brand will launch six fully electric models over the next five years, with the first in 2024. Known for its iconic, high-performance E-Type model in the 1960s and 1970s, Jaguar faces the same challenges as many other carmakers as it transitions to electric vehicles while trying to retain the feeling and power of a luxury combustion engine model. Last month, Tata Motors said it was concerned by semiconductor shortages and Brexit-related supply disruptions as its luxury car sales recover, although the Indian automaker added these had not yet hit production. Tata Motors posted three straight quarters of losses as the COVID-19 crisis dented sales, exacerbating uncertainties over Britain's exit from the European Union, weak demand and rising costs, but had bounced back to clock a profit in its third quarter to the end of December. The 2,000 reduction in JLR's non-factory jobs was reported earlier on Wednesday by Sky News.
Automotive Grade Linux will be the backbone of your connected car
Fri, Jan 6 2017Creating a backend for a secure, reliable, and expandable infotainment system is costly and time consuming. The Linux Foundation, a non-profit organization, has set out to promote and advance the Linux operating system in commercial products. Automotive Grade Linux, or AGL, is a group within the Foundation that seeks to apply a Linux backend to a number of automotive applications in a variety of vehicles from various suppliers and manufacturers. AGL's goal is to create a common, unifying framework that allows developers and manufacturers to easily implement applications across platforms. Currently, the focus is on infotainment systems, but AGL has plans for instrument clusters, heads-up displays, and eventually active safety software. At CES, a display from Panasonic showed a completely digital and customizable dashboard that allows information and apps to be moved from the gauge cluster to the infotainment screen and back, all through the use of gesture and touch controls. Although the organization has been around for five years, it's really only been in the past three that the group has been working hand in hand with automakers and suppliers. The first two OEMs to participate, Toyota and Jaguar Land Rover, have since been joined by Mazda, Suzuki, Ford, and, as of this week, Daimler. The latter is important as until now most of AGL's partner's have been based in Japan or the US. Other partners include suppliers Denso, Renesas, Continental, Qualcomm, and Intel. AGL want's to supply roughly 80 percent of the backend, allowing partners to then finish and refine the Linux system for each individual application. Think of how the Android operating system is refined and customized for individual smartphones from Samsung, LG, and Motorola. While the final product looks different, developers can have an application that will work across all AGL systems. Because it is open source, anyone can use and develop for AGL. You can even go onto the group's website and download a copy right now. There is also a software development kit available that helps facilitate app creation on the platform. Vehicle development cycles take roughly five years, so there currently are no cars that run an AGL backbone available for consumers. AGL Executive Director Dan Cauchy says products should be hitting the market later this year, with even more coming in 2018. Right now, the industry is relatively fragmented when it comes to infotainment and related systems.
Jaguar teases four-door EV grand tourer; electric Range Rover orders open this year
Wed, Apr 19 2023Jaguar just revealed a few vital details about a new EV it says will be revealed by the end of 2023, and Land Rover shared a little update about its upcoming electric Range Rover, too. Starting with the Jag, JLR — the new, official name for Jaguar Land Rover — announced that its next electric vehicle will be a four-door GT car. The image above is the teaser the company provided. Power output will be greater than any previous Jaguar, with the current record holder being the XE SV Project 8 at just over 590 horsepower. Range is claimed to be about 430 miles on a full charge (Jaguar doesn't specify the test cycle type), but that number could be different (and likely lower) here in the United States once EPA testing takes place. Jaguar says the grand tourer will debut its new in-house EV platform that is officially named JEA, which is unrelated to the electric XJ that was scrapped a couple years ago. And lastly, Jaguar says the vehicle will start at GBP100,000 in Great Britain. Pricing for the United States wasnÂ’t estimated, but a direct conversion at todayÂ’s rates puts it at about $124,000. Considering the price point, power level and range, this Jaguar is shaping up to be a potential Porsche Taycan competitor. The single teaser image at the top of this post suggests the same, as the photo shows a car with a fast-sloping roofline and wide, bulging fenders. ItÂ’s an exciting teaser, as it pretty much confirms that Jaguar will be coming in hot with a spicy-looking electric four-door. The last detail about this Jag confirmed today is its production site, as Jaguar says it will build the vehicle at its Solihull plant in the West Midlands, England. As for the Range Rover news, weÂ’ve known an electric Range Rover was on its way, now we know that the vehicle will launch in 2025. JLR says it will begin accepting orders for the electric Range Rover later this year, but didnÂ’t set an official date. The electric Range Rover will be built at JLRÂ’s Halewood plant in Merseyside, England. Those are all the details we know about today, but expect more teasers and information leading up to the reveal of these new EVs later in 2023. Related video: This content is hosted by a third party.
