Rare Genuine Factory County Station Wagon 7 Seater

Hi and thanks for looking at our listing for this Landrover Defender 90. Unlike many sellers this Landrover is in the USA and comes with all relevant EPA and DOT clearance all ready for the new owner to title. The Landrover is originally from the United Kingdom and it still has 10 months of the UK MOT remaining. For those unfamiliar with the MOT it is a 12 monthly requirement in the UK for all vehicles where they check things such as brakes, lights, steering, chassis, and all round general safety. I have this certificate to hand and will be given to the new keeper which guaranteed you a safe, roadworthy Landrover.

The Vehicle

The Landrover itself is a rare factory County Station Wagon. This means it has the "County" pack which is basically a cloth interior, alloy wheels, alpine windows in the roof and a sunroof etc. Being the Station Wagon means that it has the rare 4 fold down individual seats which would have been factory fitted. You see many Defenders that have had the side windows cut in and bench seats installed and these are inferior compared to these genuine ones as these have all the trim around the windows and roof lining which the others generally do not. The engine is the original 4 cylinder 2.5 diesel which is renowned as being one of the most reliable engines to have in one of these. They will do nearly 35-40 MPG and will achieve speeds up to 80 mph so more than enough for driving on the Freeway.

The Body

The exterior is finished in a white/cream color which is the original color and has not been altered in any way. The paintwork is in good shape and has a good finish to it. The bodies on these Defenders are Aluminium panels and I am pleased to say it is in excellent order for its age. The combination of steel on the inside and aluminium on the outside causes oxidation spots and there a couple of light ones in a couple of places but nothing major at all. But for a 28 year old Landrover, it really is excellent and more importantly, straight and solid. The bulkhead is in superb shape and there are no obvious signs of any repairs etc. The footwells are also in good solid condition.

The Interior

The inside of the vehicle is clean, tidy and original. The 3 front seats are finished in original trim and they are in decent condition with just a couple of minor marks. The 4 rear fold down seats all operate as they ought to and again just have a couple of light marks from 28 years of use. The dashboards and door cards are original, complete and in decent condition. The carpets and roof lining is also nice and clean and its been well cared for by the previous owners down the years.

Mechanicals

The 2.5 litre 4 cylinder diesel engine is one of the best and most relaible engine Land rover ever built. They are made to last forever, are easy to maintain and never let you down. It has been well serviced and cared for and there are some receipts for work done so its ready to go for the next 100k miles. Look after these simple engines and they will give years of trouble free economical motoring. The Landrover has a 5 speed manual transmission. Both the gearbox and transfer box work excellent. There are no nasty noises rattles whatsoever. The gear selection is all nice and smooth both up and down the box. The Defender is permanent four wheel drive . The high/low gear and differential lock are present and work perfectly. There is a small gearknob near the main gear stick to select the low range gears.

The Chassis

The complete chassis is in perfect condition. It is hard and strong as to expect from this Defender. It has been coated with a special impregnation substance that prevents rust and keeps it strong. This was done every two years by the previous owner. The Chassis number or VIN is clearly visible. The VIN is SALLDVBC7AA251853

Jaguar Land Rover output at two UK plants hit by chip shortage

Thu, Apr 22 2021

LONDON — Output at two of Jaguar Land Rover's (JLR) British car factories will be temporarily halted from Monday, due to COVID-19 supply chain disruption, including a lack of semi-conductors, the firm said on Thursday. "We have adjusted production schedules for certain vehicles which means that our Castle Bromwich and Halewood manufacturing plants will be operating a limited period of non-production from Monday 26th April," the Tata Motors-owned company said. The COVID-19 pandemic has driven up demand for semiconductor chips for use in electronics like computers, as people worked from home, and suppliers are struggling to adjust, hitting output at many automakers. Trade flows have also been affected. On Wednesday, carmaker Stellantis said it would replace digital speedometers with more old-fashioned analogue ones in one of its Peugeot models, as the fallout continues. Renault's finance chief said on Thursday that car production fell by tens of thousands of vehicles in the first quarter as a result of the shortage. Output at JLR's third British car factory in Solihull, central England, will continue, the company said. "We are working closely with affected suppliers to resolve the issues and minimize the impact on customer orders wherever possible."

GM, Audi, Jaguar halt Russian sales amidst ruble's collapse

Fri, Dec 19 2014

The value of Russia's ruble currency has sunk like a stone tossed in the Volga for much of the year, losing over 40 percent of its worth since June. The change is having bizarre effects on the auto industry there and leaving some automakers scrambling to adjust. According to Bloomberg, Russians are buying up luxury goods including automobiles at the moment to have a physical investment in case the ruble sinks further. However, with the money worth so little, the companies aren't making much from these transactions. Things are so dire that several automakers are temporarily ending deliveries until the situation stabilizes. According to Bloomberg, General Motors stopped sales on December 16 with no set date to start again. Audi did the same thing but with the intention to resume once it has adjusted model pricing. Jaguar Land Rover terminated business until December 19 to see how things changed. Toyota is increasing its pricing, as well, but keeping business open at the same time. Some automakers have subtly been reacting to the slumping Russian auto market all year. The moves have included Volkswagen cutting production by 30,000 units from its factory in Kaluga. Ford also got rid of 950 workers from two plants due to low demand. Some analysts have even speculated that the contracting industry and possibility of lower import duties into the country could cause companies to end their manufacturing in Russia completely.

Jaguar Heritage to auction off part of its classic-car collection

Mon, Feb 19 2018

A few years back it was reported that Jaguar Land Rover had purchased the James Hull classic car collection in its entirety. The collection is beyond significant, as it was at the time of sale the biggest single collection of British cars in the world and the largest private car collection in the UK. Consisting of 543 cars, it ranged from the mundane to the obscure, including some extremely rare prototypes. There were 130 Jaguars, for example, from the C-type to the D-type to the XKSS. When the cars were put up for sale in 2014, the asking price was a not-insubstantial $170 million. JLR didn't reveal how much it spent to buy the cars, but now it seems the carmaker is about to recoup some of those costs. At least 50 cars from the collection will be sold by auction house Brightwells, as part of the Affordable Classics at Bicester sale on March 21; some reports have said JLR would be eventually offloading as many as 100 cars. Looking at the listing, there are some definite gems in there. Not all cars are British, as there are Citroens, Mercedes-Benzes, a Fiat and a Goggomobil. Jaguars and Land Rovers are notably absent from Brightwells' listing, which we take as a clue that the sale will consist of cars not crucial to JLR's wellbeing and heritage. That said, for a lover of British cars there's a possibility to grab something truly interesting: For example, the Reliant Scimitar Ferguson 4x4 Prototype must be worth preserving. A 4WD pioneer also known for Massey-Ferguson tractors, Ferguson fitted its system in Jensens as well as a prototype 4WD Mustang in the 1960s. The fiberglass-bodied Reliant sports car is an interesting sidenote in Ferguson's history. Then there's a Vauxhall Chevette 2300 HS, which is a veritable rally-bred RWD hot hatch in comparison to the American market Chevrolet Chevette, its distant relative. On the hot hatch front, there are also Metro and Maestro turbos, which offer plenty of poke in a light, boxy body. Or if you view the internet's popular "Worst Cars Ever Made" lists as shopping lists, you could build your own collection of slightly dodgy cars: Start with the unfortunate-looking Vanden Plas Allegro, continue to the malaise-tastic Morris Ital Camper, and finish it off with a late-model Lada Riva wagon from the mid-1990s. Some cars are in tip-top shape, and some are best seen as restoration projects, like the very pretty Borgward Isabella coupe from 1960.
