1986 Land Rover 90 Defender 2.5L Petrol Station Wagon

For sale is my 1986 Land Rover Defender with 87770 miles on the clock. It has 6 seats, FM Radio / CD Player, Cubby Box, Heated Rear Window, Power Assisted Steering, 4 Wheel Drive through 5 Speed Gearbox (Hi and Lo ratios), Tow Bar with Electrics and has a rare Snatch Land Rover Bull Bar fitted.

This car has had a lot of time and money invested in it to make it a reliable and practical every day drive. It has a very solid chassis and has not had any welding on the bulkhead or foot wells. There is superficial corrosion in places due to the usual reaction between aluminium and steel. The under side has recently been steam cleaned and waxoyled. The body is in its original Land Rover Marine Blue and although there are some touch up patches it has not been re-sprayed to maintain its originality.

The car is registered in the UK with VIN No. SALLDVAD7AA260405 and Engine No. 17H04089.

Although not heavily modified it has had the following improvements made:-

1/ Wheels & Suspension
8x15 eight spoke wheels with General Grabber AT tyres.
New OEM brake pads and shoes. OEM front shocks and galvanised turrets.

2/ Engine & Transmission
All engine, gearbox, transfer box and diffs oil and filters changed.
New radiator and Kenlowe fan fitted.
New starter motor fitted.
OEM front and rear prop shafts fitted.
Has been fitted with gas flowed cylinder head, SU carb, inlet and exhaust manifolds, all from Auto Component Re-Manufacturing to give additional 30bhp.

3/ Exterior
Has been fitted with rear quarter bumpers, rear step, rock sliders, bull bar and wing top chequer plate.
It has new spare wheel cover.

4/ Interior
Exmoor Trim canvas seat covers and centre cubby box which provides useful storage.
15 in Moto Lita steering wheel to provide more room.
Land Rover endorsed seat raisers and bulkhead removal bar supplied by MUD UK. These make for a more comfortable driving position. I'm 6ft 4in and can fit in comfortably.
Noise Killer sound deadening under the hood, in foot wells and in rear load area.
MOD spec and Land Rover endorsed heavy duty rubber matting system supplied by Exmoor Trim, has been fitted in the front.

The above work has all been carried out within the last 1000 miles with receipts for all the items fitted.
The indicated mileage is backed up by past MOT documentation and servicing invoices.
Documentation supplied also includes Owner's Handbook, Workshop Manual, Servicing Manual and Radio Manual.
There are two sets of keys consisting of, Ignition, Front Doors, Rear Door, Petrol Cap, Pedal Lock and Hood Lock.

All in all this is a solid, reliable and original Land Rover, with sound body work, tidy interior and healthy engine, which is happy to cruise at 60mph all day.
It is a joy to drive something of this age and I am reluctant to sell but with petrol prices in the UK at about $10 per gal, it is too expensive for me to run. I was considering replacing the petrol engine with a 200tdi to improve fuel efficiency but decided that the car is too good to modify in this way and hope that someone in the US will appreciate its pedigree.

SHIPPING

Due to the specific import requirements for the US, the buyer (who would be the owner) would need to arrange and pay for the shipping from UK to US and all customs duties and fees. I have obtained quotes from Anglo Pacific ref 961679, for shipping from their local UK depot to New York or LA, which are available if required. The contact at Anglo Pacific is Mr Doug Dyer who would be able to advise you on the service they provide and what information is required from you. He can be contacted by phone on 011442088388028 or by email, dougdyer@anglopacific.co.uk. I would make arrangements to deliver the car to the shippers local UK depot with necessary export paperwork.

PAYMENT

Although the auction bids will be made in $ I would prefer payment to me to be in GB?.
Within 48hr of completion of the auction the buyer to pay me GB?1200 ($1900) by Pay Pal.
The balance to be paid within 14 days of end of auction or prior to me handing the car over to the shipping agent if earlier, by bank transfer.

Thank you and good luck with the bidding.

Jaguar Land Rover invests $1.5B to build factory in Slovakia

Fri, Dec 11 2015

Jaguar Land Rover will invest 1 billion pounds ($1.5 billion at current rates) to build a new factory in Nitra, Slovakia. Construction will commence in 2016, and the site will have an initial capacity of 150,000 vehicles a year when the first of them roll out in late 2018. JLR expects to employ 2,800 people there. JLR won't yet say what vehicle it will build in Slovakia, other than it will be an all-new aluminum model. The 2018 timing for the plant's start of production seems to coincide with the launch of the radically different next-gen Land Rover Defender, though. Earlier reports suggested that JLR also considered locations in North America, particularly Georgia, and Europe for the new factory. However, the company signaled the Slovakia choice earlier this year when it signed a letter of intent with the government there in August. The automaker then did a final feasibility study before committing to the site. The new factory continues JLR's recent manufacturing expansion. The company opened an engine plant in the UK last year and a factory in China. There will also be one soon in Brazil, and it will reportedly bid to buy the Silverstone Circuit as a new headquarters. JAGUAR LAND ROVER CONFIRMS NEW FACTORY IN SLOVAKIA • New world-class premium manufacturing facility confirmed in Nitra • The next stage of the Company's plans for sustainable global growth • Today's announcement also supports long-term investment in the UK Bratislava, Slovakia – Jaguar Land Rover has confirmed that it will be the first British carmaker to open a manufacturing facility in Slovakia. The announcement follows an agreement between the company and the Government of the Slovak Republic to build a new plant in the city of Nitra, western Slovakia. The new world-class GBP1 billion premium manufacturing facility will eventually employ around 2,800 people. Today's announcement follows Jaguar Land Rover's recent confirmation to double its investment in its engine plant in the UK to almost GBP1 billion – the largest injection into a new British manufacturing plant in decades creating several hundred new jobs. Dr Ralf Speth, Chief Executive Officer, Jaguar Land Rover commented, "Jaguar Land Rover is delighted today to welcome Slovakia into our family. The new factory will complement our existing facilities in the UK, China, India and Brazil and marks the next step in the company's strategy to become a truly global business.
