1984 Land Rover 90 Defender Style Running 200 Tdi on 2040-cars
Brooklyn, New York, United States
1984 Land Rover 90 painted quiet badly in a Nato green style paint. Has diamond plate fitted to wing tops and hood, with fitting for spare wheel to mount on hood if preferred. Vehicle has relatively newish soft top and hoop set installed, front 3 seats installed and 2 rear jump seats in place, but not well fitted-need to be correctly installed. Front seats have later Exmoor trim covers in place, not all matching. I will provide with a new set of LR sea covers (water resistant slip cover type in grey) vehicle has some rust in the usual paces, namely both door bottoms, some in foot well and light rust at the top of the bulkhead. The latter is mostly just surface rust and has been repaired at some stage. The doors and foot wells can be easily plated / repaired. Body has dents and repairs in line with the type of vehicle this is and the use it has had. The chassis has had some patching done over the years, is relatively solid and was inspected prior to leaving the UK a year or so ago. There is an aftermarket suspension kit and poly bushes installed on the vehicle. Some additional parts are included, I can quote them, but a few bits n bobs and a New electric fan to replace the belt driven unit. needs only temp sensor switch or manual switch to be complete to install. Diesel motor does smoke a little on start up as most do, settles after warming up. 5 speed manual, power steering and a radio...that's the luxury side of things covered. Truck sits on relatively newer General grabbers (spare is brad new) and discovery steel rims, which look pretty cool. Truck is not yet titled in the US, all import paperwork would be provided to facilitate the registration which is pretty straightforward to process. Vehicle can be viewed in Brooklyn NY prior to bidding. Collection from same location, ideally on a transporter or trailer. Any questions, please contact me prior to bidding. I do reserve the right to cancel any zero negative or bidders with feedback of less than 10 unless contact is made prior to bidding. **Listed as 1980 as Vin not recognized by Ebay due to it being an import** |

Jaguar Land Rover remains bullish on diesels
Wed, Sep 30 2015Despite Volkswagen's recent diesel scandal, Jaguar Land Rover is pushing ahead with ambitious plans to roll out the technology across most of its lineup in the coming years. Jaguar and Land Rover will add diesel engine variants to every model in their lineups, except for the Jaguar F-Type sports car. Land Rover launched the Range Rover and Range Rover Sport with available 3.0-liter turbocharged V6 diesels, and together they have sold more than 330 units so far in September, their first month on sale in the United States. JLA officials say they've seen no fallout from VW's emissions problem and are adamant their diesels meet EPA standards. "That has been our strategy, and it is not changing," Joe Eberhardt, Jaguar Land Rover North America CEO, told the Automotive Press Association on Wednesday in Detroit. "You have to deal with the situations as they arrive. We are confident of diesel." Jaguar will get another diesel next year from its Ingenium engine family, which will initially be sold in the XE sedan and the F-Pace crossover. It's a turbo 2.0-liter four-cylinder unit and makes 180 horsepower and 317 pound-feet of torque. A JLR spokesman said the Ingenium has not yet gone through the EPA certification process, and the diesel-powered models will arrive in the fall. Jaguar also plans to add diesel engines to the flagship XJ and XF sedans. Land Rovers, including the Discovery and Evoque, will also get diesel options, and the company estimates the technology will offer 20- to 30-percent improvements in fuel economy, depending on the vehicle. Eberhardt said it is "too soon to tell" if the diesel market will be weighed down by Volkswagen's situation. The German automaker admitted to cheating on emissions tests to make its diesel-powered cars appear to run cleaner than they actually do in real-world situations. The ensuing outrage forced longtime VW chief executive Martin Winterkorn to step down and prompted a reorganization of the company, which faces legal and regulatory action around the world. Still, Eberhardt maintains JLR is "very confident" in its diesels, which are part of its strategy to grow sales around the world. Land Rover has experienced rapid growth under the ownership of Indian conglomerate, Tata Motors, while Jaguar is set to revitalize its lineup with new entries like the XE and F-Pace to reach a broader market segment.
Top Gear pits Hennessey VelociRaptor vs. Range Rover Sport SVR
Fri, Jun 5 2015As a television series, Top Gear is in limbo with an intent to return, but no hosts yet. However, it's magazine and website continue to bring us clips like this one. While the video might lack the show's charismatic hosts, this is an opportunity to see a drag race between a Land Rover Range Rover Sport SVR with 550 horsepower and a Hennessey VelociRaptor with 623 hp. The duel between these two supercharged V8s definitely sounds great. Both rugged models start at the line growling angrily at each other like dogs ready for a fight. You have to watch the clip to see whether the more powerful VelociRaptor feeds on the SVR, though. UK car output falls 14% in March, may get worse with no-deal Brexit
Tue, Apr 30 2019LONDON — British car output fell for the 10th month in a row in March, hit by a slowdown in key foreign markets, and the sector stands to suffer a lot more if the country leaves the European Union without a deal, an industry body said on Tuesday. Output tumbled by an annual 14.4 percent to 126,195 cars in March, the Society of Motor Manufacturers and Traders said. Exports, which account for nearly four out of every five cars made in Britain, were down by 13.4 percent. The SMMT said analysis it had commissioned predicted output would fall this year to 1.36 million units from 1.52 million in 2018, assuming London can secure a transition deal with the EU. If Britain has to rely instead on World Trade Organization rules for its trade with the bloc, which include import tariffs, output is forecast to fall by around 30 percent to 1.07 million units in 2021, returning to mid-1980s levels, the SMMT said. The forecasts were produced for SMMT by AutoAnalysis, a consultancy. Prime Minister Theresa May has secured a delay to the Brexit deadline until Oct. 31, giving her more time to try to break an impasse in parliament over the terms of Britain's departure from the EU. Foreign minister Jeremy Hunt traveled to Japan earlier this month to try to persuade the Japanese government and Toyota, which has a big presence in Britain, that London was determined to avoid a no-deal Brexit. "Just a few years ago, industry was on track to produce 2 million cars by 2020 — a target now impossible with Britain's reputation as stable and attractive business environment undermined," SMMT chief executive Mike Hawes said. "All parties must find a compromise urgently so we can set about repairing the damage and diverting energy and investment to the technological challenges that will define the future of the global industry."
