Teen who stole Guy Fieri's Lamborghini gets life in prison [w/video]

Mon, 27 Jan 2014

If you're currently on a crime spree, we'd recommend against stealing the Lamborghini of a popular, bleached-blonde chef, lest you end up getting sentenced to life in prison. That's not to say 19-year-old Max Wade's life sentence was simply due to pilfering Guy Fieri's Lambo - an attempted murder charge for a drive-by shooting, among other crimes, also played a role - but we doubt it did much for his case.
You'll recall we last reported on Fieri's missing Gallardo Spyder in April of 2012, when it was reported that the Marin County Sheriff's Department and Mill Valley Police Department recovered the car from a storage container, that also housed the motorcycle Wade, then 17, used in the drive-by. Wade originally stole the V10-powered droptop from a San Francisco dealership in 2011, reportedly by rappelling onto the dealership's roof.
Wade was charged as an adult for his crimes, despite being a minor when they were committed, and could be eligible for parole at an unspecified date. That said, he's also facing a separate sentence of over 21 years, according to Boston.com. Scroll down for the news report from KPIX-5, the Bay Area's CBS affiliate.

Lamborghini Urus will have a 650-horsepower twin-turbo V8

Mon, May 15 2017

For years, we've known the Lamborghini Urus is coming. Concepts and spy shots give us a pretty good idea of what the replacement for the Rambo Lambo will look like. We also know that the Urus will be powered by a twin-turbo V8, with a plug-in hybrid variant coming sometime later in on. Thanks to Automotive News Europe, we now know that the new V8 will turn out an impressive 650 horsepower, more than Volkswagen Group brethren from Porsche and Bentley. In a recent interview, Lamborghini CEO Stefano Domenicali revealed the final horsepower rating. Torque is still unknown, but given the fact that this is a SUV with a turbocharged engine, look for a minimum of 600 lb-ft. The final output for the plug-in version is still up in the air. A full reveal is still a ways off, but production was set to start sometime last month. This should be the Italian automaker's volume seller, with base price possibly around $200,000, but that's not saying much when we're talking just a few thousand units a year. Lamborghini had its best year ever in 2016, so expect both more sales and longer waitlists when the Urus finally arrives. Related Video: This content is hosted by a third party. Lamborghini Huracan LP 610-4 Spyder opens up in Frankfurt

Tue, Sep 15 2015

The Lamborghini Huracan is still a fairly fresh member to the supercar scene, but at the Frankfurt Motor Show, Lamborghini is giving its wealthy clientele an open-air variant of the V10 with the newly unveiled LP 610-4 Spyder. The introduction finally gives the brand a natural successor to the discontinued Gallardo Spyder. Mechanically, buyers are still getting a Huracan with its 5.2-liter V10 pumping out 602 horsepower (the 610 in the name is in metric ponies) and 413 pound-feet. A seven-speed dual-clutch gearbox routes power to all four wheels. Performance is quite brisk, with the sprint to 62 miles per hour coming in 3.4 seconds and to a top speed of 201 miles per hour. One thing the hardtop obviously can't match is the power-retracting roof that can open up in just 17 seconds at speeds up to 31 mph. Lambo's designers didn't just take a saw to the top and go sip an espresso, either. The roofline is thoroughly resculpted behind the seats both for improved aesthetics and to direct airflow around the occupants. When the roof is down, it's easier to spot the new nacelles that run down the rear of the supercar. Ducts in those bits help reduce turbulence, and they look great too. Another cool touch is that the rear glass is power operated and can be opened to let the V10's roar into the cabin. The first Huracan LP 610-4 Spyders arrive in spring 2016. Lamborghini is setting prices in Europe at 186,450 euros before taxes ($210,111 at current rates). The actual US figure could be somewhat different, though. Related Video:
