Is this the new Lamborghini Huracan?
Thu, 19 Dec 2013All aboard the Leak Train! While we know that all the official images and details are coming soon, the Lamborghini Huracan (if that is its real name...) is showing up all over the internet (Automobile Magazine Hong Kong's Facebook page, for instance) in a dashing yellow paint scheme. While we're not presently able to confirm or deny the accuracy of these seven leaked images, when compared to the spy shots we've already seen, we can say they look convincingly real.
If they're legit, what we're looking at is the replacement for the Lamborghini Gallardo, which first went into production way back in 2003 and has gone on to sell an astonishing 14,022 units, a record for the Italian brand. Put another way, the Huracan has very large shoes to fill. Judging by its badge, which reads LP610-4, it will be doing so with 610 horsepower and all-wheel drive.
Take a look at the seven images above, and stay tuned for the full official floodgates to open in very short order.
Five different Huracans? Lamborghini's thinking about it
Sat, Dec 19 2015Lamborghini will make sure there's a Huracan for every potential (supercar) customer by offering at least five versions over the model's lifetime, including one with even more performance. Company boss Stephan Winkelmann might be on the way out at Lambo, but he opened up to Autocar about the future. Winkelmann confirms that Lamborghini has a more hardcore Huracan under development. "For sure there will be a car that is going in the direction of lighter and faster," he said. Spy shots from earlier this year possibly show the model testing with tweaks to the rear end and camouflage that suggests relocated exhaust pipes. The company also could offer a droptop version of the incredible LP580-2 (pictured above), which we recently drove. The current boss didn't detail other specific versions of the Huracan, but suggested that more variants might be possible. "It could be more than five derivatives over the life cycle. We have a lot of ideas that are already planned, but the more we think, the more things are coming up," he said. Adding more versions of the already popular Huracan could help Lamborghini boost volume further before the release of the Urus around 2018. The company had a sales record in 2014 and was on track for an even better result this year. Related Video:
Lamborghini Super Trofeo one-make racing series coming to America
Wed, 20 Mar 2013Starting in June, racing fans in North America will have another way to get their fix. Lamborghini is bringing its Super Trofeo series to the US and Canada in a "long-term" deal that kicks off in a six-race season this year and should bring some extra excitement to the newly formed United SportCar Racing series in coming years.
The inaugural Lamborghini Super Trofeo North America race will be held at Mid-Ohio on June 15 and 16 with most of the rounds running alongside Grand-Am, International Motor Sport Association and American Le Mans Series races; the season finale will be held at the Indy Car event at Fontana, California on October 18 and 19. More importantly, the winners of each round will compete in a world final at a race in Italy against winner from the Super Trofeo races in Europe and Asia.
All competitors will be piloting specially prepared Gallardo LP 570-4 racecars featuring 570-horsepower V10 engines and paired with all-wheel drive. Scroll down for the Lamborghini press release, which gives the full six-race schedule.
