2001 Lamborghini Diablo 6.0.  This car was manufactured in Sant'Agata Italy in 2000.  It was flown to the United States for the August 2000 Running of the Bulls put on by Lamborghini Orange County to Monterey California (Italiano Concourso).  Mario Andretti was the guest driver in the number one spot of 100 Lamborghini's.  He drove this car for part of the way, and signed this brand new car.  I know because I drove this run.  At the time I was driving Dennis Rodman's old 1997 Diablo Roadster, which Mario Andretti also signed at the time.  I have been making the running of the bulls almost every year since then, but this particular car never ran in it again.  This car remained in California, and I again made contact with it in 2005 when I purchased it following a spin out resulting in the left rear wheel being impacted.  It was professionally repaired at that time in Florida by a vietnam veteran who owned his own body shop.  Car was repaired perfectly and there is no indication of any damage by any inspection, or by performance for the past 8 years and 30,000 kilometers. At the same time it was fitted with a Borla stainless exhaust which sounds awesome, and looks great (straight pipes); together with a new clutch.  Some of the photos here were taken in Las Vegas a few months ago, but I now have the car back in Louisiana.  This car is as nice an example of a 6.0 as I have seen.  When combined with the unique history, it makes this car quite a collectible indeed.  This is the last of the Diablo's, and extremely rare.  Good luck bidding.  Please feel free to conduct a pre-bid inspection, but after winning bid car is yours.  As is where is, runs and drives super; and looks great inside and out.  We can have it listed on truckstop.com for delivery in the United States. Buyer pays for shipping.

Lamborghini reveals Aventador Nazionale in Beijing

Sun, 20 Apr 2014

Special editions have proven themselves a great way for high-end automakers to get a little bit more for their wares, but they appear to be gradually being taken over by personalization programs that allow customers to order their exotic new wheels just as they want them. After all, what's the point in ordering a special color scheme someone else has chosen when you can choose it yourself, with special wheels and interior upholstery to match?
Lamborghini has just such a program. It's called Ad Personam, and like the customization catalogs offered by other automakers, it allows its clients to specify any range of stylistic parameters to suit their own taste. To showcase the program, Lamborghini brought a customized Aventador to the Beijing Motor Show. Called the Nazionale edition, it's got a white paintjob with tricolore racing stripes up the hood, anthracite wheels, and a blue leather interior.
It's similar to the Gallardo Tricolore that rolled out of Sant'Agata three years ago - the kind of treatment we'd otherwise call a special edition, but despite carrying a different name, it just goes to show the possibilities Lamborghini offers it customers. For the right price, of course.

Lamborghini Accademia at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca

Thu, 13 Nov 2014

I found it to be a rare, genuinely rewarding educational experience.
Lamborghini is putting more effort into its North American motorsports efforts and promotion, so we recently attended its first-ever Intensivo driving school at Mazda Raceway Laguna Seca, spending a day behind the wheel of both its Huracán and Aventador supercars. Offered under the Squadra Corse banner, Experienza is designed to provide a taste of Lamborghini's cars on a circuit, Intensivo is designed to maximize track-time learning, and Accademia and Advancada - only in Europe for now - are focused on the driver and driver technique. Beyond those, Squadra Corse can also provide Super Trofeo instruction to get you fit for the Blancpain one-make series and GT3 racing, too.

LAPD now on patrol with its own Lamborghini Gallardo

Mon, 17 Mar 2014

Last year, the Dubai Police made news by purchasing a string of supercars to act as patrol vehicles around the city. Apparently, a generous family in Los Angeles thought that the LAPD needed to keep up with the Joneses, because they recently donated use of their Lamborghini Gallardo. Unfortunately, you won't be seeing the Italian coupe in any high-speed chases, as it's being used exclusively for display at charity events.
The Lamborghini has arrived courtesy of Nathalie and Travis Marg, proprietors of telecommunications contractor Light Source 1 Inc. They approached the force with the idea to use the supercar because "they admire what the LAPD does for the community," said LAPD Sergeant Frank Preciado to Autoblog. Galpin Auto Sports was tapped for the custom wrap to make it look like a police car, and according to Sgt. Preciado, the police force can use the car indefinitely. Importantly, the LAPD says no tax dollars have been expended on this vehicle.
The LAPD Gallardo will be on display to the public at Los Angeles County Air Show on March 21-22, and Sgt. Preciado said the police have already received many inquiries to display the car at other events. The police have even set up dedicated Twitter and Instagram accounts to promote its newest addition. Too bad it won't be catching speeders anytime soon.
